i hope Garcia can stay in and throw 2 more solid innings...... although im really down on this offense right now too guys lets all try to remain calm and remember this is the first week of the season, for example look how slow the yanks started off last year with an all star lineup.... nice and easy breathe in breathe out... and worse comes to worse we do what Houstan did... add a hitter at mid-season and he will spark us to the playoffs -

Maybe unloading your 2 best hitters was a bad idea afterall :banghead...... Its weird i kind of expected a slow start w/out Frank and all but so far this offense is so dissapointing, barely getting any hits when getting a hit grounding into double plays, I thought we play small ball where was the bunt :headshake -

Balk is the most retarded thing in baseball..... :banghead they should do it like in basketball for delay of games and give you a warning 1st..... Its dumb that hitters can pull out right b4 a pitch but pitchers cant. -

Rowand says there's no selfish players on the Sox
GoodAsGould replied to Jabroni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
idonno but i really was happy when Clee was up to bat or Magglio.... those guys were awesome.... Now Valentin he is different, while from all accounts he was a great club house guy he really stunk on the field and switching to being only a lefty this late in his career i think is a mistake. But wasnt there a story of Clee saying he hated everyone or something like that besides Magglio... so who knows. -
QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 04:12 AM) Last year? Hell, we haven't been able to bunt since Gene Lamont was running the squad. I love the fact that Ozzie is trying to get this squad to play solid fundamental ball, but I'm not going to gulp down the Ozzie Kool Aid just yet. I want to see it before I buy into it. I've been looking for effective bunting and base-running from this squad for the past decade and haven't seen jack s***. Well thats because Jerry Manuel was our manager b4.... last year Ozzie openly complained about the lack of bunting and s***.... Id assume he would have everyone work on it but your right we still need some more time to see what this club is all about. But hey good start so far right.
-
QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 03:10 AM) I disagree that it's easier to double AND sac bunt to put a guy into position to score (remember, he hasn't scored yet) than to hit a homer or back-to-back doubles. This is especially true for a team like the Sox where NOBODY knows how to bunt. :headshake well id assume that Podsenick and Iguchi can both bunt and that Ozzie has worked on bunting for everyone during spring training.... last year your right... we couldnt bunt but you have to believe Ozzie had everyone working on bunting this off-season. And Dye showed you last game dont always need to bunt a long flyball works fine too.

Santana Struggling Against Mariners
GoodAsGould replied to ottawa_sox's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
im just happy because Santana and Radke is apposed to be possibly the best 1-2 combo in the majors and after them is trash so its nice to see them both struggle at the begining... but that said it seems like every game but ours that at least one of the pitchers has been torched. -
maybe his contact went down some but did his power go up?

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 02:22 AM) The Blue Jays drafted him and gave him a closer role. They are also paying him almost $1 million this year, and he couldn't get anyone out. He is still being paid by the Blue Jays. He doesn't want to hook up with another team because he wants Toronto to have to pay his entire salary. Or is it that no other team is interested in his services? Perhaps all the batting practice pitching positions are taken. Its ok, they don't pay that well anyway. Its decent of him to take the kids to the game, but if he's decked out in Tampa gear, its not only a shot at Toronto management, but also an insult to every player in their dugout. If the Sox released Koch last year, and he showed up in Tampa at a Sox/DRay game decked out in Tampa gear with a foam finger, you wouldn't think its so funny. What it is is pathetic. The guy needs to grow up. Its a lousy example for those kids. ok but the difference is Koch knows we gave him a chance to be on our team... Toronto released after 4 appearances in spring training..... he said b4 i dont care if you say my stuff is s*** but to release me after only 4 appearances is bs.....

Players declaring for draft

QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 10:49 PM) Put him on the bobcats he would average 15 a game if not more. He would either be a starter their or one of the first off the bench. I think your reaching a little bit.... Okafur might avg 15 for them but he is right next to the basket and is a lot better player than Head... -
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 11:42 PM) A homerun is the only play in baseball that ensures at least one run. I don't know how you can say that. But, I really don't care how we win. A win's a win, we can analyze what went wrong, but in the end, that increasing number on the left side column is the most important thing... Yeah a homerun can ensure a run... but you kind of have to hit it first.... and we saw last year when we were down by 1-2 every guy swing for the fences and it didnt exactly work very will did it..... On the other hand its easier to get a single or double and a sac bunt would put that man in position to score.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 01:39 AM) If this is true he's an ass. Billy can b**** all he wants about lack of opportunity, but Toronto is paying him almost $1 million to sit on his ass. The way he's pitched the last 2 seasons and in spring training this year, he should thank his lucky stars and offer to do the Blue Jays' laundry. apparently you didnt actually read the whole thing.... he bought all the tickets for the kids b4 he was released and was pissed because of being released after only 4 relief appearances...... Would it be better if he told all the kids that they wont go to the game because he hates Toronto? And would you root for the team that just released you after just 4 short appearances.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 01:07 AM) Why is Honel still 11th? upside?
-
well it depends on what type of comeback you had in mind..... if we were down by 5-6 than yeah last years team would be a lot better suited to make a comeback but if we are only down by 1-2 i like this team because instead of just swinging for the fences(and striking out) we get runners on and move them into scoring position. its a lot more reliable than a luck HR by Konerko at the end.
-
actually Garlands sinker wasnt looking 2 bad against the brewers he threw a real nice one to Carlos Lee and than his 2nd one was good too but Clee just bashed it. Also keep in mind Westbrook didnt have his first good season till last year where he was about Garlands age now.
-
yeah while offense is fun and all... well lets just say i watched the sox and cubs game and while the cubs scored the runs i thought the sox game was a lot more enjoyable.... and they wont all be 1-0 games :banghead
-
Im fortunate enough to live by the city but if i were you id definitely go for that extra innings package.. costs 140 but man this is the white sox....

Alex Sanchez suspended 10 days for roids
GoodAsGould replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
a 10 day suspension is nothing..... its pretty pathetic on how small it is... If i had my way if you were caught once you would be out for the season if caught twice your days playing baseball are over... and if caught once while your still in the minors leagues your done no tolerance. -
Official Sawx-Yanks 4/3/05 game thread
GoodAsGould replied to Punch and Judy Garland's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
i only watched it because it was the first real game of the season and i needed to see some baseball... and of the two i rooted for the yanks because if there is one team i hate more than the yankees its the red sox. Also did anyone else notice... when David Wells was talking on that like 30 minute show b4 the game he had a white sox hat on -
