QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 1, 2014 -> 02:56 AM) One thing is certain. Shields will not be effective for the next 4 years which is the minimum of what he'll sign for. and why is that?
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 29, 2014 -> 04:26 PM) Big picture, Rick Hahn got a franchise player for the next six years, without giving up any other player or draft pick, and only $68 million. That alone, is worth the A. For perspectives sake, a MUCH older and beat up Miguel Cabrera just signed an extension for over 4 times the amount of promised money ($292 million). Add to that Jose Quintana's contract, which on the open market we are talking about somewhere around a $150 to $200 million pitcher, to a deal that is guaranteed for only $26.5 million for the next five years. Quintana could get more than that PER YEAR on the open market, potentially. His two option years are worth $22 million, total. Those two deals are like getting the 2 for $20 at Applebee's in Lawrence Kansas for $3. If you think those two deals alone don't make an A, I want you find me another player who signed a contract like the two we are looking at from Abreu and Quintana, and tell me how that GM did better. as said before [Meanwhile, inside greg's brain] [Does fact add up with rant?] [No] [Fact ignored] [Repeat original rant in slightly different form]
  3. That was such a great video.....Thank You PK14

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 24, 2014 -> 12:15 AM) You are right. How come the Republican Party has no sharp, handsome, Afr. American presidential candidate in the waiting? Or superstar female? Palin was a laughable joke. The only way the Republicans can beat Hillary is with their own Mr. Obama clone. I'm surprised no incredible super-sharp minority candidate has surfaced. p.s. why are Afr-Americans referred to as minorities when isn't it true there are more black individuals than white now in the United States? Whites are the minority now, right? really? you are on a computer, check your facts.
  6. you sure seem to keep yours going

I thought Gotham was decent last night, a little forced in the beginning to set up the story but overall, pretty solid.

QUOTE (SouthSidePride05 @ Sep 17, 2014 -> 02:00 PM) Where are you guys getting your info? Until I see a link from a credible source, I'm not buying it. I definitely agree this won't be the last we'll see from Frankie. He's obviously a very polarizing figure and can easily boost ratings if he goes on Survivor or Amazing Race. Probably both. I remember most fans hated Rachel when she first appeared on BB, but her giant personality got her on another season of BB and 2 seasons of Amazing Race. I think TV execs know the power of a good villain so that's why she got another season on BB and was on the Amazing Race. Still doesn't change the fact that she's like nails on a chalkboard and is quite delusional when it comes to thinking people actually like her. I don't view Frankie as jerk as much as she was or even previous "hated" players on BB. He only really starts getting annoying when he interacts with Julie.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 11, 2014 -> 03:04 PM) My bad. But this stuff is on the front page of cnn It's not like I find it on obscurenews.com Leave it there. Get out and enjoy your life.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 07:05 PM) This is a forum where people comment and talk about stuff. Are you serious? You can't shoot the messenger. All of this stuff is appalling and sickening and IMO worthy of social commentary. It's just that lately you seem to make a new thread everyday screaming about how bad our country is, and it's quite tiresome. You over re-act to almost everything in the news today and when somebody tries to have an intelligent informing conversation with you, it always falls on your deaf ears.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 01:13 PM) Actually, the button hitting is cool. We shouldn't know what it's going to do, though. yeah I mean hitting it is fine, but telling us what would happen ahead of time makes this week worthless, but I am happy it has been hit and Frankie's plans will be for naught.
  15. MEANS replied to Kyyle23's topic in SLaM
this whole rewind week on BB is just stupid, they shouldn't have let us see if they hit the button or not.
  16. it's actually called  Watch
  17. MEANS replied to Kyyle23's topic in SLaM
this weeks rewind twist coming up seems strange... Derrick is killing this season, might be the best played season ever. Frankie is beyond annoying.... and yes Rock, Christine's husband is gay

  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 3, 2014 -> 07:03 PM) Yeah, I base them being bad teams on the roster and talent level. Didn't the Colts under Manning look bad pretty much every pre-season when they were one of the best teams in the league each regular season? Analysts can make limited reads in the preseason but limited is what they are. So many studies have been shown that there is zero correlation between the preseason and regular season. Every team and coach goes about it different ways. The Colts would pretty much go 0-4 in the preseason for the majority of the time Manning was with them. Pre-season means squat.
  20. Greg, Please just let it go. please... for all of us.
  21. QUOTE (VAfan @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 01:15 AM) The White Sox are in 4th place in the AL West, at 60-72, 14 games back of the Kansas City Royals, with the 5th worst record in the American League, and 8th worst record in all of baseball. They have NO reliable bullpen pitchers going forward. Zach Putnam has had a nice run, but he's managed only 45 innings, and went on the DL seemingly from overuse. There isn't a single additional bullpen piece that can be counted on. As for starters, we have the incomparable Chris Sale locked up for years. Jose Quintana seems like a quality starter, but he ends up with far too many no decisions and losses to know for sure. He doesn't seem like a #2 guy, more like a decent #3 guy or very good #4 guy. John Danks has had a year better than most would expect, but he's still overpaid and therefore not easily moved. and not part of the solution. Hector Noesi and his zero WAR? If it weren't for our total lack of right handed starters, we'd more easily see him as what he is - a fill in starter on a weak team. The Sox may have added pieces this offseason in Abreu, Eaton, and Garcia (late 2013), and tied up their best pitchers with favorable contracts, but I don't think you can say this is a successful season by any means. Making the playoffs has to be the definition of a successful season. Competing for a World Championship has to be the measure of a successful season. Anything short of that and you haven't been successful. Period. huh?

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 23, 2014 -> 01:28 PM) Yep. Nerdist. He does a celebrity bowling show on YouTube that I enjoy. and "At Midnight" on CC loved catching up with some of my favorite Simpsons episodes over the weekend
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2014 -> 10:52 AM) It is a balancing act. What I don't want to see if those losses come at the expense of development. For example, if you are the White Sox, and Avi Garcia hits .100 with no power for September, what do you do? Maybe it gets you a better draft pick, but if it comes at the expense of the team's future, that isn't good. I'd much rather see games won because guys like Sanchez, Flowers, Garcia, etc are playing well, than for the kids to go into the tank and us to get a better draft pick. Usually to lose games, you need to have players play losing baseball. If it is just the pen blowing games, fine. Any more than that, and we do more harm than good for the future of this organization. It isn't as simple as Lose Baby Lose! we had to explain the same thing LAST YEAR to everyone on the board
  25. I think the point is they created the term, where as blacks appropriated the term.
