  1. Thats awesome news. And I'm sure the Knights are happy to get some healthy players back. Yeah, finally our roster is full.....it's never too much fun to have a depleted bullpen and no guys on the bench...I really think the Sox gave up too much to land Everett. Majewski was having an outstanding year for us and was by far our most impressive reliever. Any guy who can touch 95-96 consistently and does not get fazed in the late innings is a great person to have. I think Rauch and him will both get a shot with the Expos this season, which is great for both of them. They deserve it. I would have liked to see Borchard get a decent shot with the Sox. He deserves it after the kind of year he's been having, but it looks like he'll have to wait it out again....Our team has lost a lot in the past few weeks....Burke, Reed, Torres, Majewski, Rauch, Pacheco, and Wunsch are either no longer with us or hurt, and Dransfeldt and Borchard have been up and down. Hard to play consistent winning baseball with so many moves....We've gone from 7 games over and in first place to seven games under and seven games back in a month
  2. Guys, just wanted to let you know that Bajenaru was promoted today, along with Borchard being sent back down. Our roster is full at 24 players now. http://www.charlotteknights.com/mediastadium http://www.charlotteknights.com/pressbox/roster.htm
  3. For those with ESPN radio, Joe Borchard is scheduled to appear on The Baseball Show with Karl Ravech and Rob Dibble today at 540ish.
  4. Borchard's not in tonights (5/30) lineup, but is listed as available to pinch hit. I'm guessing that with an off day tomorrow, Borchard should be back in the lineup for Charlotte for the afternoon game on Monday.
  5. Borchard was replaced after coming up limping after he was caught stealing a base. He walked off under his own power, but as a precautionary measure he was lifted for Valenzuela. I'll try and post whether or not he's in tonight's lineup when we find out.
  6. Borchard has played 40 games in the outfield, only 4 of which have been in center. Reed has played 39 games in center, and 5 games in left field. The amazing thing about Borchard's recent hot streak is that he's doing it from both sides of the plate. Borchard is now hitting .316-3-12 hitting right handed and .278-6-21 left handed. In another note, Rauch looked excellent last night in his inning of work. He was consistently hitting 92, and even hit 93 a couple times. This compared to earlier in the month when he was hitting 87-88 with his fastball.
  7. Ulacia set to start today's 2:15 game against Pawtucket. Reed is going to play left field and Borchard in center, something that has only been done a couple times this year. The Pawsox have had someone in their lineup hit two home runs in each of the past three games (Schrager Thurs., Snyder Fri., Hyzdu Sat.) Kohlmeier is supposed to start tomorrow, with Stewart and Grilli to follow.
  8. 5 players and the louisville manager have been ejected thus far. Everything started after Jonathan Aceves was bowled over at home early in the game. Wunsch, Hankins, and one Louisville player were ejected after both benches cleared, and from listening to the game it sounded as if Aceves and Burleson (LOU MGR) got into a fight but did not get tossed. Later on, Wylie hit Jason Larue with a pitch.....it was up and in, but did not sound intentional. The first pitch of the next inning went over Reed's head, and the umpire threw out the pitcher as well as Burleson after both benches cleared. Jose Santiago had some choice words for Louisville and the umpires from the bullpen and was thrown out as well.....
  9. Aceves looked pretty good hitting in today's game, but looked a tad shaky behind the plate. Knights pitchers threw 5 wild pitches and Aceves had one passed ball. The game was delayed for 46 minutes because of rain. This after three separate delays in last nights game (50 minutes for rain, 50-something for fog, then an hour delay for fog again before they called the game). Louisville's manager got tossed handing out the lineup card in today's game. He was still upset about the game being called due to fog last night. havent been able to post too much in the last couple days, but something about working nearly 100 hours in the homestand leaves you a bit groggy. A note on Wright being on the roster: he has 72 hours to report, so when he does, the Knights will need to make another roster change to make room for him. Of course, Im not allowed to speculate (at least here anyways).
  10. Diaz was overpowering at times last night after a slow start. The only runs he allowed were on a four base-throwing error by Burke (Don't see that everyday). Burke fielded a bunt and overthrew first...Borchard was backing up, but the throw was so strong it went all the way into the corner and the batter scored. Bell's grand slam in the first was just fair (i think it was foul, but I wasn't complaining), but other than that, not much offense. Valentin had some good at bats where he worked the count a bit before making outs. Knights have won 4 of 5 and are back to .500! btw, the knights played louisville, not columbus. They are affiliated with the Reds.
  11. Tonight's (4/30) lineup in Charlotte is the same as last night's with Valentin batting third as the DH. Felix Diaz is on the hill looking for his fourth win of the year. Former White Sox prospect Tim Hummel is batting fourth for Louisville.....time to go watch some BP
  12. Thanks for the warm welcome....hopefully I wont bore you with too much Knights talk....btw, not sure if anyone knows this stat, but reed is hitting .478 (11-23) vs. left handers this year....not a bad start
  13. I think the reason Rauch only went five was because he waited through some really long innings early on. Charlotte scored three in the first and two in the second, and Rauch was really laboring after those two innings. He threw pretty well, if you consider 69 pitches and 51 strikes well (I do). Valentin had a really tough assignment facing a left handed knuckleballer in his first game back. The thing was moving all over the place, and two early passed balls led to 4 unearned runs. Reed's stolen base was actually him getting picked off and beating the throw to second, but he had two solid line drive hits, including a double in the first. The kid is very good, and has composed himself really well in all the interviews hes conducted down here so far. He seems (knock on wood) like the real deal.
  14. Yeah I live in Charlotte and will be at every game this year.....Im looking forward to Valentin playing tonight, hes in the lineup in the three spot, pushing reed up to two. The Knights are facing left handed knuckleballer Ray Aguilar from Richmond....should be intesting to watch
  15. First time poster, but I've been lurking and reading for a while now. Just wanted to let you know of a site for the Knights that gives you some other information that the regular website doesnt give you. www.charlotteknights.com/mediastadium The media stadium site has some great action shots, headshots, and all the news releases for Charlotte. This in addition to their regular site (streaming audio, webcasts for home games) makes their site pretty cool. Just thought I'd let anyone who is interested know about it. I saw Kohlmeier throw last night, and he was in complete control the entire game. The only reason he was lifted was to give wunsch a chance to throw, and if he hadnt been he probably could have finished at least the 8th. Charlotte's pitching has been great, but their offense has been offensive. 3 runs or less in 12 of their first 20 games. In the name of Chico Lind thats bad!
