Dodgers had a shot here, if they won this game it would have been an insanely demoralizing loss as they go to game 2 vs. Kershaw. You have to imagine that they thought they would lose game 1 anyway, having Kershaw ready for game 2 to hopefully nix the momentum heading into LA. Still, tough to lose a game this way, the momentum is 100% with CHI.

I love some of the ideas in this thread. I really hope they explore and pounce on any good trade options. The team desperately needs a reshape and while it won't happen with the front office, it can happen with the players. I'd give away everyone that nets back a return to set us up in about 2-3 yearsish.

The Cubs have an amazing team and a great organization. They will need to find ways to overcome problems in the next few years with $$$$. I wonder what their max budget actually is, permitting there winning, they are a wealthy franchise (unlike our Sox). I think it's fair to say that their pitchers are due for a (large) regression. Lackey is old, hendricks is (imo) a question mark as to how he will perform next year, Arrieta is showing signs of being human, and while Lester is great, he is 32. Hopefully their able to overcome these issues as their hitting is absolutely stellar if it comes thru.

These changes seem excessive. Maddon pinch hitting a 100 RBI hitter and then the Giants take out Romo (supposed closer) for another RP. That's 4, count them, 4 pitchers used in the 9th inning here for Giants and 0 outs.
