QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) Where's Viz? Oh i forgot, he can't get Lh's or Rh's out. He's Great. :rolly Vizcaino's ops versus righties is .693 and marte's is .817?

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) Do I have to understand the reason to use this arguement? Let's put this whole f***ing thing into context then. We have NO f***ING CLUE what goes on in that clubhouse. We are all on the outside looking in. Sorry, fellas. I know some of you think you could be skipper, but, you're not. Do I know the reason? No. BUT, do I see time and time again he goes to Marte over Cotts? Yes. Ozzie knows a LOT more baseball than I. And, I'm just going to take a guess here, a LOT more baseball than you. He goes to him time and time again for a reason. He has ALL the information you are PRIVY to and MORE and he STILL goes to the worse statistical pticher of the two. Why? Ozzie does not look at stats? That is the only logical explanation there is.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) No, I think you guys are right. Again, Ozzie has nothing on armchair, Soxtalk managerial committee. For ages, it has been believed that left hander pitchers have an inherant advantage versus left handed batters. But, let's live and die by those stats and trot out a guy like Vizcaino over a left handed reliever--and one, that, if on his game, can be one of the best left handed relievers in all of baseball--because Marte "can't get anybody out." Believe me, I'm far from leading the Damaso Marte fan club, but I don't understand why the argument isn't one of Vizcaino versus McCarthy instead of Marte versus McCarthy. There is not as big of advantage as there is made out to be. Some lefties are great, some are awful, and some our just medicore against left handed batters. Some righties are great, some our awful, and some are just mediocore against right handed batters. All in all it ends up pretty much equaling out. If marte is on? That is the biggest f***ing if in the world at this point and i am most likely his biggest fan on soxtalk. Marte will most likely go to another team next season and put up solid numbers once more... but for whatever reason ( his injury still bothering him?) he has blown. Personally i want him back and start next season fresh with a clean slate.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 03:09 PM) Ok, I'm just going to cite a few outings later in the season in which Marte "re"-earned my respect. After having the fallout with Ozzie, Kenny and co. and his alleged firing, Marte enters two ballgames in Minnesotta and turns out two very impressive and CRUCIAL outings in the later innings. Ozzie told him if you want a place on this team and you really think you belong, you have to get it back. He threw him right in the fire and Damaso produced. He's a left handed pitcher, and a pretty talented one at that. If he has "it" he can produce in the clutch and get some big outs. If he doesn't, he starts walking people and puts runners on. He has to be on the roster. I'm sorry. Having him off the roster just doesn't make a lick of sense. One left handed reliever in the ALCS...errrr...I dunno. Everyone on the sox can get lefties out better than marte. Just because you throw left handed doesn't mean you always have an advantage.

QUOTE(mkalk @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 04:47 PM) How many times were you dropped on your head as a baby? :banghead He goes in streaks like this... but he is harmless.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 12:32 PM) "99% of baseball fans have no idea what they're watching." -Carl Everett This coming from a guy that thinks a .746 ops is worthy of batting third. :headshake

QUOTE(SoxRock192 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 01:27 PM) For sure Are you high by any chance?

QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 03:13 AM) Marte has been gradually getting worse for 2 years. Personally, I think He Gone! His era means nothing... opponents still only had an ops of .664 off him last year. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 03:14 AM) It looks like all of those appearances he had during the manuel era got to him. He actually had more appearances last season with ozzie than in the two with manuel. He was on pace to have his average if not for the dl stint.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 02:10 AM) I havent shaved in like 5 days. I am not much of a facial hair guy, so I just look funny with this peach fuzz all over my face. Hell, I will just go as far as saying I do not look good at all with facial hair. Do i really have to show them a picture of what you look like period? :puke

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 01:06 AM) See, I just don't understand the double standard here. I absolutely loved Pierzynski a couple weeks ago stepping on Boone as he crossed third, but was it classy? absolutely not. I guess when its someone you like, you're not going to mind him doing it. He tried to get out of the way... no intention on stepping on his back. Manny ramirez's intention after every homerun is being a grade A jackass.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 12:32 AM) I know for a fact Politte has an option that will be picked up and im pretty sure we control the rights for AJP next season 2. This will be pierzynski's third year of arbitration...
-
QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 12:24 AM) I am not sure who is a FA from out pitching staff this year, I know all of our SP's are locked up for at least one more year. With that said, can't they just put El Duque in a box and put him away until playoff time next season? Crede and Garland are arb. eligible and I think AJP can be a free agent. Politte may be a FA too. Pierzynski is arbitration eligible and will most likely sign a three year deal... politte has an option for 2006.

Trump is at the game... god his hair is awful.

QUOTE(BFirebird @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 07:51 PM) It might actually come down to who the Sox play. Anaheim, Los Angeles Orange County Angels Anderson, Finley and Erstad only tough lefties...but Politte might be able to get them out better than Marte. Yankmees Giambiotch, Tino, Posada(Switch) and Matsui is a little taller order as far as lefties go. I really do not want to see Marte at all on the roster but leaving him off might not be an option. Ozzie has a tough call to make. Everyone on the sox get lefties out better than marte. It is actually a rather easy decision to make if you think about it.

Angels. We will go on to beat the angels in six.

Randy johnson gets two quick outs in the first. Going into the bottom of the first it is 3-0 angels.

Tony the great giving us an extra out in game two that gives iguchi a chance to put us ahead with his homer. Graffy gets my vote.

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 06:59 PM) Garland Game 1 starter!!! QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 07:01 PM) Two of the channels already reported Guillen said Garland!! Which is complete bulls***. Contreras will be on what, 17 days rest? You have to go with your best and our best is clearly contreras at this point. No excuses if contreras does not start the first game. I know they want to get garland some in game pitching... but game one of the series is not the right time to do so IMO.

Boston gammons face right now is priceless.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 06:52 PM) Truth. Although Cal Eldred was solid when healthy. He'd have fit nicely on this staff. He would have had the highest era out of five of the six starters we had pitch for us this year.
