QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 02:46 PM) Past statistics are not relevant to the future. Possibly the most asinine thing i have ever heard.

QUOTE(thomsonmi @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 02:41 PM) Not exactly. Harvey Haddix pitched a perfect game yet lost in extra innings. The other pitcher didn't throw a no-no, just a shutout. http://www.sportingnews.com/baseball/25moments/19.html Insane.

QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) Ok, so you keep basing ur arguments on hunches and assumptions against facts. Real smart. Oh, and I'm the only person here who uses a little name call once in a while? LMAO! I think in this context it wasn't exactly "out of line." I have used facts many times in this thread. It is a fact that garland was nothing more than a average pitcher up until this year. It is a fact that garland's ''stuff'' has been weak up until this year. He would have some gems now and then and his ''stuff'' showed up that day but it was not consistent. Disagree if you like but you would be wrong. It is a fact that his control was not good before this year. It is a fact that many players have huge years before their contract year, rake in the money, and then regress. Rules are rules. Any sort of insults are not tolerated. I really could care less about being insulted but if i can't insult others without consequences why should others be able to? QUOTE(Jake @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 02:09 PM) Garland has always had some of the best stuff on the staff. His command was rarely stellar, but his main problem was someone would hit off him and then he'd start nit-picking, trying to hit a corner instead of pounding the zone. The biggest difference IMO this year is that AJ has him throwing inside, something he rarely did in the past. I think this is no fluke, because most of what has changed was between the ears. His ''stuff' showed up on rare occasions.

If we had hunter everyone would love him ( alright 99.7%).

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 02:27 PM) He's been doing that a lot lately, me no likey. I was thinking it wouldn't have hurt to move dye up to fifth and rowand sixth. Not much of a difference in the order but dye has been smoking the ball the last three weeks or so. Rowand needs to get his head straight.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 02:24 PM) You are a good poster and very reasonable, I have a hard time believing you like to piss people off on purpose. Well i like to piss off the stupid posters that make everything about the cubs when this is a sox message board. The order it should be ( who we are worried about)... in my opinion anyway. Sox. Twins. Cubs.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) qwerty btw I was reading the other thread, are you both a Sox and Cubs fan? Very rare for someone so into baseball to be a fan of both teams. No, i like pissing people off. Amusing thread.

QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 01:17 PM) el conde and el duque are just not getting it done anymore; they've fallen back to Earth after amazing starts. For all we know, Garland will do the same before too long; I'm certainly hoping he won't, but let's assume worst-case scenario. We need 3-4 aces to both lock up the division and go deep into the playoffs. Buerhle and Garcia are passable in that role; Garland might be, but let's not count on him just We need Schmidt, badly. No team has four aces. None.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) Ichiro's rookie year in 2001: August: .429 Batting Average September: .337 Batting Average Haha, you tried to bulls*** me. It's besides the point anyway, every man is a different mang. Whitesoxmanger is a weird one for sure.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 01:39 PM) Thirdly, Garland's strong pitching performance comes, coincidentally, from a catcher who is forcing him to pitch inside. And as for players having a career year and then going back to their mediocre form -- look no further than say, Exhibit A: Adrian Beltre. If Garland can put this sort of pitching together for at least 2 years then he can avoid a lot of criticism. It is the same as the beginning of the year when Crede was hitting the s*** out of the ball and then went back to his normal Crediocre form. It has happened on this team this year -- players can fall back to their traditional previous form. No they can't and that's a fact!1!1!

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 01:25 PM) Well, he is doing this at the ripe old age of 25 after all. I can see why you'd think that this couldn't be a sign of things to come from an aging pitcher like Garland. His stuff has always looked medicore at best up until this year. His sinker had very little bite on it at all. This year his command and movement on pitches has been 180 from years past. I am afraid that he is gonna have a career year and get paid a kings ransom ( last year of arb and they will lock him up if he has a good career) and he will go back to his mediocore self. It happens all the time around baseball... i don't see why it can't happen to us.
-
QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 01:09 PM) LOL, thanks, now once again I can say the same thing I said to you last time. You can't go on theories and assumptions. You go by FACTS, dumbass. And right now, The Sox>Cubs, bottom line. As I said, dillusional. Period. Yes, fact is he was an average starter in the major leagues as his 101 ops+ will prove. There is no reason for me to believe he will keep up what he is doing. You go right ahead... but be prepared for the worst. It is also a fact that garland is not an ace or a number one starter... arguement can be made that he is pitching like one now, that is about it. Believe what you wish. Keep up the insults though if you want a vacation.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 12:51 PM) Either someone has hacked into Qwerty's account or this is an Andy Kaufman-esque bit. You truly think garland is an ace? His era will creep over four by the end of the year unless he has one of those magical seasons and then rapes us for 8+ million a season and reverts to his old self.
-
QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 12:49 PM) qwerty, so far u've shown me ur another dillusional Cubs fan who knows nothing about baseball. ROFL. Dillusional? Thinking garland is an ace or a number one starter and the season isn't even half way through. This guy you are pimping right now you most likely wanted gone after last year.

QUOTE(Big Hurt Way Back @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) I'll worry about them when the time comes in August when we finally play the twinsisters again. So you don't look at the scores all the time to check up on twins games? Talk about not being a sox fan.
-
QUOTE(Big Hurt Way Back @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 12:37 PM) You guys really could care less if our "ace" loses against the Cubs to decide the series. I don't wanna lose any series at home let alone the the f***ing Cubs. Wow I expected alot more from some of you. Garland is not an ace. He really isn't. He isn't even a number one... he is pitching like one right now but don't be too pissed when his era gets over four.

What the hell is Ozzie doing with his lineup?
qwerty replied to Hideaway Lights's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Thomas was hitting .302 on june 12th of last year then he got hurt on june 15th against florida. While he was playing through his injury he lost roughly .30 points on his batting average. I don't think it is out of the question that is he was healthy he would have hit right around three hundred with fourty plues homers. You know what thomas would have done if fully healthy last year? Only have the best ops in the american league. Your avatar... :puke -
QUOTE(Big Hurt Way Back @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 12:13 PM) Whatever you always have smart ass comments like that. Most white sox fans hate the cubs and want to see us demolish them!!! Cubs rock stfu.

How was leguizamo in it if i may ask? I really like him because he is was of those actors that can play any role and succeed while doing so. His roles kinda remind me of roles johnny depp plays in.
