  1. QUOTE(3E8 @ May 14, 2005 -> 10:33 PM) Oh and to answer everyone's question, Garcia's fastball dipped below 90 regularly when it became his second or third pitch. This was when he put on the Sox uni. Vizcaino. Politte. Garcia. Koch. Who else recently has lost velocity once joining the sox?
  2. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 14, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) The gun at USCF had Cabrera at 95 most of the night, and Garcia between 91 and 93. Freddy's not pitching in Seattle anymore, his ERA is going to go up, but he'll be alright. He's better than he pitched tonight. When Cotts has control he is tough. Unfortunately he rarely has control, and its not going to come to him pitching every 8th or 9th day. Garcia was just hitting 89-90 all night. Hawk and d.j. even mentioned it. Because they were saying don't get garcia mad because he will pop one at 93. Wo0t.
  3. QUOTE(JimH @ May 14, 2005 -> 10:15 PM) If that is indeed the case then the White Sox need another/different lefty reliever. Nothing against Cotts but let's get someone in here who has a good track record of getting lefthanded hitters out and can throw strikes. Easier said than done of course ... but I have a feeling this is the first change or upgrade that KW is looking at. Problem is you have 25 other teams looking to do the same thing. .269 verse lefties and .247 verse righties. Neither is very dominating but for the lefty specialist ( should be vizcaino have said that for months) it is disgusting. What i would do if we could get a lefty that can get left handers out. Since ozzie cannot see that is what vizcaino does best.
  4. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ May 14, 2005 -> 10:08 PM) Well, Oz loves his lefty-lefty matchups, I guess. Cotts is the long guy, we just haven't needed a long guy much this season, and he is seldom used (obviously). Lefties hit cotts better than righties but ozzie wouldn't know that.
  5. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ May 14, 2005 -> 10:01 PM) Do you expect a bullpen full of Radkes? Yeah, he's wild. If we were discussing the rock of the bullpen, I'd worry, but we're talking about the little used long guy. This is manageable. Cotts is supposedly the long reliever yet he comes in with a jam when the game was tied? What am i not understanding? Edit: Oops orioles were up one.
  6. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 14, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) According to the scouting report on Freddy Pitching Garcia looked like an ace early in his career but was disappointing for Seattle in 2002 and '03. He turned himself around in early '04, using one of the majors' best collection of quality pitches-a 92-93 MPH fastball, a good two-seamer, a quality changeup and both a curveball and slider-to frustrate hitters. He can struggle against lineups stacked with lefthanded batters, but was almost as tough on them as righthanded batters last year. Few pitchers are as durable as Garcia. Where is the velocity? He was throwing 95 and could pop it at 96 last year. He goes to the white sox it vanishes. That is why i want nothing to do with wagner.
  7. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ May 14, 2005 -> 09:37 PM) So this is Cotts' 3rd yr, okay. 11 ip makes a season? This is the designated overreaction zone, I know that. As long as everyone doesn't really believe things are so bad -- w/ Garcia, Cotts, whatever. I think there is reason to be concerned. The radar gun was off tonight but was it off five miles every fastball garcia threw? I sure as hell saw cabrera hitting 97-98 plenty of times tonight and all garcia could muster up was 90? His velocity is clearly not there and he is not gonna be nearly as good without it.
  8. QUOTE(whitesoxjr27 @ May 14, 2005 -> 09:12 PM) i will take three out of four anytime. Would help if we won that third one.
  9. The triple a fodder walks a fellow member of the triple a fodder club.
  10. Walker and cotts both suck ( and i really use to like cotts but i can't see a reason for me to back him anymore). We need replacements for both of them.
  11. This is why i don't know why people want wagner. If we trade for him his triple digit fast ball will be in the low 90's. Much like garcia ( don't care how screwed up the radar gun is tonight) his velocity is clearly not there.
  12. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 14, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) 5-0 Rangers! Since when was Kyle Lohse moved to the bullpen...? Don't know. But i do know he was suppose to make his next start on the 18th so i don't know what is going on.
  13. Garcia throwing these 89 and 90 mile fast balls is really pissing me off.
  14. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 14, 2005 -> 02:23 PM) He has less wins but a better ERA than Buehrle. This is true but buehrle has a better whip by .46 ( which is a lot), better baa by .36 and goes deeper into games. Not to mention the ops against isn't even close.
  15. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 14, 2005 -> 02:37 AM) I'm not going on a stat hunt, but are you figuring AB's or PA's? Not plate appearances.
  16. Oriole's fans want mazzilli's head after starting lopez in the seventh. They are a pessimistic bunch like us. They have a thread named ''too much negativity on the board''.
  17. Game over. Sox win 5-3 and the twins are tied up 6-6 in the top of the ninth.
  18. Carl coming out to pinch hit for willie. Baes loaded two outs, 4-3 sox.
  19. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 13, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) Bases loaded for Paulie. Here we go. Was there ever any doubt? 4-3 white sox on a konerko single.
