Rumors thread
Armando Benitez - R - Marlins The Giants are set to sign Armando Benitez to a three-year, $21 million contract. Maybe $21 million is a little excessive, but this is a better signing than Troy Percival or the other potential closers would have been. Since the Giants have to stay around $80 million, Benitez's addition could make it more likely that A.J. Pierzynski will be traded. 2005 Hall of Fame ballots
Makes no sense, one of the better pitchers to ever play the game. :headshake

Pathetic NFC...
If the bears make the playoffs some how they would lose about 70-2.

Sox/johnson news
He is top five in range factor just about in the middle of the pack for zone rating. He sure seems fine to me. Did i ever say he was great? Because i do not recall.

Your First Place San Diego Chargers!
Since parcells does not seem to be a fan of henson's i can see the cowboys going after brees really hard in the off-season. I know there are already rumors of them wanting him. Anyone else think he will end up there?

Sox/johnson news
Five something era he would have with his 0.85 g/f ratio. :puke

Sox/johnson news
While they want to upgrade hillenbrand is a fine first baseman. I agree that he would only get better offensively here. I can possibly see his obp reach into the .360 range along with 25 homeruns. He is a major upgrade over crede, better in every single major offensive category.

Sox/johnson news
I would not mind shea hillenbrand at all for the reasons you mentioned. But i doubt they deal him because i see him playing first base for them next year. Also they have chad tracy that they are very high on. In 485 at-bats he hit .285 with a .343 obp, left handed also which is always nice.

A "Beltran" like CFer for Garland?
Agreed, but didn't you want him also?

To Answer the question of
Problem is while rowand did well in the lead-off spot last year do not expect him to do as well as last year. I am not saying he is gonna suck but i just doubt he keeps that average. He is more a 5-6 hitter on this team and could possibly hit third for several teams in baseball.

A "Beltran" like CFer for Garland?
I am with you 100% i do not mind taking risks like these players when the payoff is can possibly be so big. I was a backer of jose guillen when he was on the trading block also for the same reason, the big payoff.

Wade Miller?
I just think we could throw diaz out there and over a full year have a 5.50 era for basically nothing compard to contreras. He will always be the same pitcher he is now, dominant for four starts in a row then three starts he will give up 25 combined runs. He not consistent enough for my taste for six million per year. I know his immediate family is here by the way.
-
Why not go after Beltran?
Did everett fall of the face of the planet?
-
Wade Miller?
I sure hope if the sox are sucking it up at the trade deadline that they deal contreras. Better yet if they dealt him this off-season.

Please show me numbers of players that excelled once they left montreal. I am about a sample size of fifty or so games.

Scott Schoeinweis
So then if they own his rights and are able to still trade him how is a free agent at the same time? I most likely no but it is just not clicking right now.
-
Scott Schoeinweis
Free agent then i believe.
-
Scott Schoeinweis
He is a cry baby when he does not start. He is yet to realize he is not a starter, he does not have the arm strength to last a full season i believe. If he starts for us next year we might as well write of whatever chance we had of the playoffs. More than likely he will get more than he deserves which is another reason not to like him.
-
Scott Schoeinweis
Arbitration eligble unfortunately.

fly under the radar and do this
They would except that i think if that rumor was real. I do not see them getting a s*** load more than garland for him but that is just me. I remember seeing that for only a day or two so it wasn't a very big rumor.

The situation at catcher
Johnson's contract sucks and all in all so does he. I hope loaiza does not come back. I like how people say they would not mind if he comes back. That is until he has a six era in june. Then people will be b****ing up a storm.
