  1. QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2009 -> 01:10 PM) At least we get to see the renovated home of the Royals. I can't wait to hear hawk.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 3, 2009 -> 08:32 PM) I don't know who Texas is going to trot to the mound in the 9th, but Danks would have had to pitch a shutout to get a win tonight. That was sadly all too simple to call. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 3, 2009 -> 01:50 PM) Quite possibly 4 non-big league quality hitters in that lineup with Alexei doing his best impression of one thus far this season making it 5. Thome being out of the lineup is just sad, we don't deserve to win this one. Good luck Danksy, might have to pitch a shutout.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 3, 2009 -> 08:18 PM) Richard would be worse. Contreras has an ERA of only 3.00 if you use the first 3 innings of each start. So there still is something there. This is stretching. Pitchers are historically the most effective the first time around the order.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ May 3, 2009 -> 06:59 PM) How many years did Ryan pitch in a 4 man rotation, I wonder? Six.
  5. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ May 3, 2009 -> 07:16 PM) Hence the f***. I don't know what to do, but Nix needs to be in this lineup more. Let him play out this hot streak. This is what you would classify as a hot streak? What is a cold streak?
  6. Betemit, so bad defensively, no matter where you put him.
  7. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 3, 2009 -> 07:03 PM) Another solid AB from Nix. Good to see. I hope everyone does not get too excited too fast, like usual... and i don't mean you.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ May 3, 2009 -> 06:59 PM) Who's this pitcher batting? Even pitchers get lucky sometimes.
  9. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 3, 2009 -> 06:33 PM) I'm so sick of hearing about him. Dude, start acting a little classier already.
  10. QUOTE (Ron @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 04:03 PM) Pods actually talked about #22 on Waddle & Silvy. He said he is superstitious and wants his old # back, so he wants to talk with Josh about it. But he said he doesn't want to make a big deal of it if Josh doesn't want to give it up. He already made too big of a deal about it, so there goes that.
  11. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 11:06 PM) How about a CY Young for one of them? Both are great possiblities when you consider the stuff each one possesses, hell, lincecum already has one to his name. Point is though no one has a clue at this point in the season, simply way too early. If grienke did what he just did to start at some point in the middle of the season it would be a blip on the radar compared to the attention it got, it is a shame, but that's how it is.
  12. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 10:46 PM) Any arguement about Lincecum and Greinke being the best pitchers in their respective league's? Yes, probally because i do not base things off of three weeks, or one season even. Both have ways to go until they can be given that tag, in my opnion
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 10:50 PM) there are people who fully believe that Thome isn't a Hall of Famer. I find that to be completely absurd. Those people snort vodka though.
  14. QUOTE (3E8 @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 11:47 AM) Bring up Allen 51% of his hits last season went for an extra base hits which is phenomenal. But there is still a downside to him at this point Allen had a 6 to 1 k/bb rate in 2006 in his first go around with kannapolis. 126 strikeout to 22 walks. Allen had a 3 to 1 k/bb rate in 2007 in his second go around with kannapolis. 124 strikeouts to 39 walks. Allen had a 2 to 1 k/bb rate in 2008 between winston and birmingham last season. 124 strikeouts to 60 walks. While he is clearly on a upward trend with his walk rate he is yet to improve k'ing. One of three things need to happen in the minors before his is considered big time, he needs to raise his walk rate, lower the k rate, or even a slight combination of both. He needs most of this season if not all of this season in double a before we have an idea of what we have on our hands. It is almost assured he would exposed very bad if he were to come up at any point this season. A very nice positive for him though, he seems to be a better defender than most anyone realized. http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2009/4/4/...-base-prospects
  15. QUOTE (SouthSidePride05 @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 06:06 PM) I noticed before yesterday, we were averaging 28,000 fans. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/attendance That's actually way up from last year at this time. Then we had a double header yesterday, and apparently MLB did not calculate the attendance for the 1st game. The 1st game yesterday did not have an attendance figure and therefore was counted as 0 (2nd game had 25,000). Since the first game had an attendance of 0, our average attendance took a major dip, and it's now at 25,206 (today's game won't be added til tomorrow), and dropped from #16 to #18. I think this is a mistake by MLB, and they should have counted the paid attendance for the 1st game. Did anyone else notice this? Is there a way we can contact MLB and notify them of this? That is how it works.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 03:59 PM) Here's the main problem I have with Anderson. He's just baseball-dumb. He has no concept of cutting down his swing on a fastball and just making contact or hitting a sacrifice fly. All he has to do is hit a ground ball or fly ball to the right side of the field. Brian just takes that big, looping swing on a 93 MPH fastball that he could take 100 times and he wouldn't make contact with once. No excuse not to score 2 runs in that situations with 2nd and 3rd, no outs. I wanted to mention it earlier but i forgot. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and no outs there is roughly 0.700 chance of those two runs coming around to score. I guess it is inexcusable when every other team in baseball does not score those two runs 0.300 of the time also.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 04:25 PM) BA after 0-2 count in career 13 for 94=.138 At 0-2 count 4/46=0.087 So you base are trying to base your arguement on by far the toughest count to hit in. Awesome.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 04:17 PM) Career in 200+ ab's with runners on base. 224 BA, 671 OPS. Actually... 304 plate appearances, 270 at-bats - .230 average, .294 on base, .374 slugging, .668 ops prior to today. You could at least get that much right.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 04:16 PM) By the way, someone may have asked this earlier but wasn't there talk yesterday of Getz being ready to go today? Yes, but ozzie wants him to be ''fully'' rested for the weekend.
