Yeah, it was a nice win. I fully expected Putkonen to crap himself like the rest of the starters have done as of late. Now they get to try and beat Rice twice in a row. Good luck there.

Terry Hoeppner passed away this morning
God I hate cancer. RIP. I found out a few weeks ago that my father has advanced prostate cancer and knowing there's not much you can do is just the worst.

This guy REALLY doesn't get it...

Brandon Allen up to .277 after his 5-6 performance, maybe he's finally living up to his potential.- White Sox vs. Pirates, 6/16/07 (W)
Heads are those K/BB numbers for Floyd backwards? Nevermind, think I misread it.- Scout.com merging with MySpace
Yeah, the message boards are still going, have a couple of new moderators as TL has dissapeared :-).- Scout.com merging with MySpace
It's actually only going to be a merging in the same way that Scout merged with Fox, there will just be an ad on the pages for Myspace on Scout and vice versa. Nothing like I thought it would be thankfully. But Scout is having serious problems and might be going under.- Poll: Most Important Offseason Acquisition
Acquire or sign Eric Byrnes, Luis Castillo, and Scott Linebrink and we are off to a great start. CF is a tougher question.- Just an idea(Sox and Padres)
I would guess that Escobar is untouchable at the moment. I could see a Mark and MacDougal for Saltamacchia and one of (Brent Lillibridge, Elvis Andrus, or Diory Hernandez) working. As for Garcia, I would put him on a similar timeline as Gio, maybe mid 2008-2009.- Just an idea(Sox and Padres)
Minus MacDougal and that's actually a trade I have thought about as well for Mark. That and to St. Louis for Colby Rasmus and Jaime Garcia. But Salty and Escobar or to a lesser extent Lillibridge would solve two positions of need for the future.- Just an idea(Sox and Padres)
Yeah, people can't seem to get over the fact that Crawford has no reason to be traded or be available. As for Cameron, he was more of a throw in in the deal, but I didn't really think about his value in Petco park and I stand corrected. I just know SD has an abundance of bullpen arms and is looking for a power hitter. I'm still not even sure what to make of Jermaine's value or even of possible destinations for him.- Just an idea(Sox and Padres)
Agree, was looking at the stats in a hurry and was wrong anyways.- Just an idea(Sox and Padres)
Other then Cameron playing in 59 of SD's 60 games? Cruz can still throw, I know that, and looking at his stats, he has 3 steals and 2 triples as well so far. Cruz had 9 triples and 25 SB's just last year, did he really lose that much speed in a year? Anyways, it was just a hypothetical trade to get other Sox fan's opinions. I know Mark's value is very high, I wanted to see what you guys think Jermaine's value is at this point.- Just an idea(Sox and Padres)
Has Cruz really lost that much? I haven't watched him in a few years, but he used to be a very solid defender with a lot of range. The Padres are also interested in Adam Dunn, would be interesting to have a retarded contest to see who has less range in LF, Dye or Dunn.- Just an idea(Sox and Padres)
Deal adds a power hitting OF for the Padres, and a decent pitching prospect for two FA's. Jose Cruz would take over in CF with Dye in left or right field with Giles in the other. Padres are looking for a power hitting LF and Dye would fit. Not to mention the Padres have several other guys having great seasons in the pen as well and guys like Andrew Brown and even our beloved Royce Ring ready to step into a bullpen spot.- Just an idea(Sox and Padres)
Exactly. There are a lot of soon to be OF's that will be on the market, whether it's Andruw Jones, Torri Hunter, Aaron Rowand, Bobby Abreu, Moises Alou, Shawn Green, Brad Wilkerson, and even Barry Bonds. lol Heads.- Just an idea(Sox and Padres)
Greene is all of 7 months younger than Juan. With a career OBP of .312, he would be a slight upgrade over Juan I suppose. There's not a trade that is going to happen that is going to propel us to 1st, much less a playoff spot. This isn't a lifechanging trade I'm proposing, just one that might help this year but would give us the first chance at re-signing a very good veteran bullpen arm. Mark will net us some great prospects like maybe Colby Rasmus and Jaime Garcia from St. Louis, but Jermaine most likely isn't going to bring back even a Carlos Gomez, or Lastings Milledge from the Mets.- Just an idea(Sox and Padres)
Tough crowd, a reliever with a career ERA of 3.03 and 1.88 this year at 30 years old makes people want to puke. Cameron would add speed, defense in CF, and would be off the books just like Jermaine at the end of the season. You gain one of the better relievers in the game and the first shot at re-signing him. As for Khalil Greene, why? We already have the darker version of him in Juan Uribe.- Just an idea(Sox and Padres)
Awesome, never thought of that. Go for it.- Just an idea(Sox and Padres)
Yeah, wouldn't lose anything but Broadway if Linebrink didn't re-sign. I've never been a fan of Broadway's at all, so I'm biased.- Just an idea(Sox and Padres)
Just thinking. Would you guys be interested in a Jermaine Dye, Lance Broadway to San Diego for Scott Linebrink and Mike Cameron deal? Dye, Linebrink, and Cameron are all FA's next year, and at the very least we could work on extending Linebrink and let Cameron walk after playing CF for us this year. Offense wouldn't gain much, but the bullpen and defense should.- 2007 MLB Amateur Draft Thread
Well, we finally got Alex Rodriguez.- 2007 MLB Amateur Draft Thread
Lack of draft and follows really affecting the draft apparently. BlueJays and Padres already out now. Will be interesting to see if MLB shortens the draft again.- 2007 MLB Amateur Draft Thread
BlueJays already finished drafting before the 36th round? Weird. So if you haven't figured out our draft strategy yet, it's apparently draft tallest pitchers available and smallest infielders available. Piranha's and projectable tall pitchers I suppose.- Aaron Poreda selected
