  1. Cowherd hates on many, many things. He's the Billy Packer of the radiowaves. He's no better than Jim Rome, guys that just say crap to get attention.
  2. Realistically the Big 12 will have quite a few tourney contenders, but really only Kansas as national title contenders all Self jokes aside. I'm just excited that TTU finally has a shot at the Big 12 South title.
  3. Could turn into a good hire, not proven enough for the job, but has been successful in his short times at UTEP and A&M. Definitely better than the Doherty hire UNC had to fall back to, *shivers. UK is definitely a better job than KU. KU is one of the top 5 jobs in college basketball, but Kentucky can pay more than any other program, and has what 7-8 championships, and Ashley Judd.
  4. Everything about Packer is old school, so yes I believe him 100%. Doesn't mean he should still be announcing though, he's horrendous. He is the antithesis of Vitale, and both need to be put out to pasture.
  5. Barnes turned down Kentucky, so now they have to turn to Gillispie. Next year Green loses all his primary teammates, and has a stud freshmen PG coming in to share minutes. He might as well at least test the waters and see if he can play his way into the late 1st or early 2nd.
  6. Can't imagine anyone wanting to play for this scum now after he stranded several players who chose KSU just for him. http://msn.foxsports.com/cbk/story/6648384
  7. Patterson will end up at Florida #1, or Duke #2, nobody else has much of a chance. Kentucky might be a distant 3rd.
  8. Might put Beasley up for the highest bidder. Calipari better clear some cap space ;-).
  9. Tom Crean would be the next logical choice to me. Texas can throw an insane amount of money at Barnes to stay and recruit Texas kids, and Gillespie just doesn't have enough on his resume to deserve a job like Kentucky in my opinion. But who knows.
  10. And look how fast he turned the program around with just Texas talent. He would be crazy to leave for any job that isn't an obvious step up in my opinion. Going from A&M to Kentucky would make a lot of sense, but Arkansas' appeal can't be very high without an obvious recruiting base and an administration that just fired a coach who had back to back 21+ win seasons.
  11. http://recruiting.scout.com/2/631282.html Noel Devine finally signs his LOI.
  12. On the fun rumor mill, I've heard now that Donovan is actually closer to becoming the next Heat coach than he is the next UK coach.
  13. I can't imagine Donovan being dumb enough to have his wife off looking for houses during their final four run. But I guess dumber(stranger) things have happened. I think it will be a big fight between UK and UF for his services this offseason. Couldn't really blame him for either job destination he chooses.
  14. That's what I get for not checking the SLaM board everyday. Happy late birthday Kap you old fart!
  15. Here is an interesting quote from the Gordon recruitment in early March of last year... "How committed is Eric Gordon to the University of Illinois? “Well, I’m 100% committed. But like right now, “they” the people at Indiana, are calling me a lot. They are telling me that Steve Alford is coming next year and I should think about that. But I’m going to Illinois. The Illinois coaches have been good to me" Sampson just turned up the Indiana recruitment 10 notches, legal, ethical, or not.
  16. Checked on the Laker game just to see what Kobe was up to, noticed he had 9 points in the middle of the 1st, but the truly impressive stat is Lamar Odom who had 9 rebounds with 6 minutes to go in the 1st quarter.
  17. I've heard he wasn't exactly a teammate favorite and they weren't all that sad to see him go, even without a legit replacement on the roster.
  18. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=2813245 Why? Back to back 20 win seasons and solid in recruiting, brought in 4 four stars in last years class.
  19. I knew several people that were at the game and talked about how the Georgetown fans in unison would stand up at the timeouts and boo and cuss out the refs all game long, it's not just something I made up in my head. It's something similar to what coach K does to refs all game long and why he gets so many calls. Doesn't hurt that the GT coach whined about it and got a Tech in the first half as well, it eventually worked, but I don't expect an outsider with no interests in the game other than bracket to notice or care about it. But in the end, it's over. Georgetown won and is moving on, and I go to baseball season. As an aside, I never blame the refs for a loss. 95% of UNC's losses this year have been from a lack of brainpower or youth. But this one was just the hardest to take in my life.
  20. Seriously, let it go. Have I ever given you grief when the Illini lost? Or anyone grief when their team lost? Didn't think so.
  21. Just realized that the defensive teams got the better of the faster teams in the elite 8. Memphis, Kansas, UNC, and Oregon all could get out and run, but couldn't defend enough when it counted. I know, brilliant analysis :-).
  22. You know what, you aren't even worth it on second thought.
  23. lol, poor Heads, but he at least has football to look forward to now.
  24. I know, and yes I know I sound like a whiny little baby. Coupled with UNC's mascot Jason Ray about to pass away and the most likely departure for the NBA of Brandan Wright, Ty Lawson, and maybe even Hansbrough, it just sucks as a UNC fan right now. But life goes on.
