He showed off nice touch on a mid-range runner there, that's going to be a weapon. If he hasn't developed an outside shot I could see teams packing the paint against Memphis. I know I don't want Ty Lawson trying to guard him.

Ok, first 20 minutes of seeing Derrick Rose, and I honestly feel like there's not a better player in college basketball. Can't be. He's absolutely amazing. Great size, great passing, great defense and hustle, no showboating. If he can shoot at all then look out college basketball. This years crop of frosh guards is absolutely amazing with Rose, Mayo, and Gordon leading the way.

Adrian punishes people when he runs, but he also takes a lot of punishment with his running style. Will be interesting to see how healthy of a pro career he has. God knows he has physical tools that no other RB has ever seen. He just needs to run lower and run out of bounds occasionally instead of looking for someone to punish. People are talking about Darren McFadden being an even better pro prospect than Adrian, we will have to see about that.

Overrated, How does a player get that label?
Basically when a player doesn't come through a few times when you thought they should :-). That or have the name David Eckstein.

Smtih Center High School in Kansas
I believe I read that they had 6 turnovers in the 1st quarter alone. They really must have just sat on the ball later in the game, as they "only" ended up with like 86.

Actually Marvin has moved up to option #2 this year behind Joe Johnson.

2007-08 NBA Thread
Marvin is ready to breakout this year at 21 years old. He was at 13 ppg and 5 rpg last year, and should up those to closer to 17-18 ppg and 7 rpg. He was great in preseason, game has matured.

You and I both, Texas Tech has got the market cornered on unathletic big men that like to shoot from 12-15 feet and have no interest in rebounding or defense.

I know Rivals mentions UNC but I don't think UNC was recruiting him. UNC has their PG in Larry Drew for 08, and was going after Shumpert as a 2 guard. But Taylor has offers from you guys, Cincy, GT, Kansas, Missouri, Saint Johns, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia. Very good pick-up. He might end up being a better pick-up for Marquette than Shumpert, as he is a high major talent that will be around for several years. He's very athletic and can get out and run and handle the ball, but is working on his shot, which will probably keep him around unlike Shumpert.

Video Game Catch-All Thread
Yep, I play both. When I have time I play a few years on college football and export the draft classes, then eventually draft them into Madden. Of course I have only had time to draft about 2 of my classes in the 2-3 months I have owned the games.

Tough recruiting news. Robert Quinn, #8 Scout 4 star DE was in surgery earlier for a brain tumor to be removed and his football playing career is over before it really ever started.

Get Georgia Tech in Atlanta this year, so I would bet that's another George loss coming.

USC looks good talent wise, but they have a few "characters" on the team and Mayo has already hurt one of his teammates. I see them self-destructing. This is going to be another freshmen class where everyone is drooling over Mayo, Love, Rose, Gordon, Singler, Beasley, Bayless, Nick Calathes etc.

I can see you still need some time with your therapist to get all of the Duke fan out of you. :-P. I can't see UCLA ahead of UNC, and I'm totally unbiased. UCLA can match up pretty well with Collison, Shipp, Mbah a Moute, and Love. But even after Lawson, Ellington, Ginyard, and Hansbrough UNC just outclasses them with experienced depth. Really depends what style the game would come down to. If UCLA could slow it down, they could win, but if UNC can push it then it's over. Still, you wouldn't find a more fun matchup to watch than Love/Hansbrough and Collison/Lawson. I would bet a decent amount of money that Love and Hansbrough would get into a fight. I honestly think you could go 1a. UNC, 1b. Memphis, 1c. UCLA. All 3 have their reasoning and tournament success to back it up. UNC actually has the least amount of tourney success in the past 2 years of the group, and they were beat by final four George Mason and final four Georgetown. I'm really getting tired of George. As for Duke, there's no reasoning for putting them ahead of NC State. State has a ridiculous amount of talent in the frontcourt, Gavin Grant and Courtney Fells as double digit scorers on the wins, and newcomer Farnold Degand(sorry Heads) set to take over at PG.

Also, there's not much in life that I like less than prevent defenses. Cost teams loss after loss, and yet it's still employed. I would rather be aggressive and possibly give up a quick strike, at least you give your team a chance to respond. Saw it with the Steelers on Sunday night as well, and it had my blood boiling.
