They did it again, scored 4 runs on 5 hits, Royals had 3 runs on 8 hits. Thats 5 wins in the last 9 games in which the Twins have been outhit (at home) and won the game. I swear to you this is absolutely insane and something you will never see again.

Sox need to adjust the rotation for next week
joeynach replied to macsandz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I agree too, need to give them something new to look at/worry about. Plus I thought we dont pitch Danks and Buehrle back to back because they are similar pitchers. -
QUOTE (CQMVP @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 10:42 PM) Not only would Thome have been an upgrade for the Sox at DH, we would have kept him AWAY from the Twins, which I think is the bigger picture that most people here are missing. If Thome isn't on the Twins, the Sox are probably in first place right now. Not bringing back Thome could turn out to be the deciding factor in us not winning the central. Especially if the Twins squeek it out by a game or two. I'd say it's a big deal, but whatever. If Thome isn't on the Twins and Morneau gets hurt yeah I agree, but if Moreneau doesnt get hurt Thome hardly gets playing time. Kubel is their primary DH, and deserving so, and Thome's contributions are minimal because of his reduced playing time, as was their plan from the get go when signing him.

QUOTE (CQMVP @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 10:46 PM) We can hope? Well baseball lifer's and professionals talk about it like its an inherent trait in the game of baseball!!!

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 04:38 PM) We seem to be the exact opposite in run production lately. Getting 3 or 4 runs for every 10 plus hits. Thank Ozzieball for that and all the outs we keep giving up each game. No one was talking about ozzieball and the whitesox run production, but thanks for your meaningless side comments. Did you forget the whitesox are 2nd in the AL in batting with RISP at .281. Looks like you did.

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 09:52 PM) It seems I was the only one that appreciated this. They aren't lucky. They've done this too long to be lucky. It isn't the dome. They have really solid teams. You could say we are lucky to have won 7 in a row coming from behind in a lot of them while giving up so many outs. The twins are a great offense with good pitching starting and bullpen. Teams like that tend to do well in the regular season. Yeah they have a great bullpen and offense everyone knows this, and looking at the macro level you would say that is going to win you 90+ games, or keep you in the race all year. But that is not the reason u get wins in TB from the rafter, a blown call by the 3B ump against texas, and certiantly is not the reason they at the micro level they have won 5 of their last 7 games by being out hit by their opponents at home. I am looking at the micro level, a few odd games over their 162 game schedule, you cant compare that the Macro issues, its apples and oranges.

QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 08:48 PM) Meh. Remember a hit can have some human judgment to hit, meaning some of those might have been borderline error or hit calls. Maybe though there is something to this. Remember in 2008 when the Twins hit a pretty lucky .305 with RISP? By comparison, AL average for that year was .273 (the next closest to the Twins was Baltimore at .287) Things like that tend to correct themselves, as we saw in game 163. Maybe another "correction" is possible. That is what I am thinking, there is some sort of baseball correction due. People in this game always see things tend to correct themselves over a 162 game schedule, cough San Diego Padres cough!! The point being after the dome rafter win, the texas rangers contact with the runner win, and 5 of their last 7 wins coming at home in games that they were out-hit....SOMETHING HAS GOTTA GIVE!!!! Especially with the sox win 7 road games in a row and not making up any ground during that period. Its one of those baseball oddities that sees an inevitable correction....RIGHT??

Over the past couple weeks I noticed something strange about the way the Twins were winning. They seemed to be winning a lot of game in which they were out hit by their opponents. So I did a little research. Since the ASB, the Twins have won 7 games in which they have been out hit and won another two more in which they have tied their opponents for hits. Of those 7 wins, 6 are at home. Of those 7 wins, 4 are in the last week, OUCH!!!! This seems strange to me, how is this happening and why only at home. Is this unheard of, is this a record? I would love to see some more research about winning games when being out-hit. Why can the Twins do this at home, but not on the road. Is it their big ballpark? How can they do this so consistently in the last two months? Is their lineup the most clutch lineup ever (only at home), where they can score 6 runs on 6 hits consistently? There has to be a method to this madness because In my opinion this is rather freakish.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 04:05 PM) Everybody knows the white sox should have signed Thome. We don't need to bring it up in every thread. Ya know no one mention's this so here it is. I was watching MLB Network the other night and the host was talking about Thome, his numbers, and his OPS of over 1.0. The thing that stood out was that he said he spoke to Thome a couple days ago and said that Thome has really embraced the fact that he he is essentially a part time player and didn't think he could put up the same season if he was a full time DH again. Now he has played a lot since the ASB when Morneu went down, but gave a lot of credit to his part time status keeping him fresh and his nagging injuries from bothering him. He said that has contributed a lot to this ability to hit the ball hard and consistently this year. So unless the plan was to make Thome part of the rotating, not everyday DH, I dont believe we would be seeing the same monster. That point needs to be made, the man is 40 for christ's sake.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 04:09 PM) I'll be there behind the big screen. Garcia going for the Sox Garcia pitching, that means what 10 hits in 4 innings for the Tigers. Just hope 10 hits means 3 runs and not 6.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 06:26 PM) He's not playing tomorrow, he tweaked his back yesterday and tried to play through it today. Seems like day-to-day. Maybe we can see Teahen play 1st tomorrow batting 6th? Who am I kidding? Kotsay doubled today, he will be in there batting cleanup tomorrow. B) Well I hope its really just a 1 or 2 game thing. Hes a bit up there in age so I worry a bit.

I just heard on MLB Network that Konerko was lifted in the 9th inning today because he was having some back issues. I didn't see or listen to today's game so does anyone else have any information on this. Something like how severe his injury is or if he is expected to miss any more significant playing time. Man we need Paulie's bat, would totally suck if he went down for any period of time.

I remember reading somewhere that it was because JR wanted to maintain the main entrance/address/home plate being right at the corner of 35th and Shields for some historical or nostalgic purpose.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 02:01 PM) Career 1st half - .290/.341/.466/.807 Career 2nd half - .272/.318/.422/.739 While still an indication of wearing down thats still nite and day compared to Dye's 1st and 2nd half splits from last year.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 02:22 PM) He has said that yes, that he is going to just have to play through it. But then a few weeks ago he started hitting the ball hard again for a few games, only to fall back into this pattern of hitting weak choppers to the left side. Hit that ball to the opposite field hard today though, so maybe he is starting to feel better about it. Hope So!!

Ugh, I love what Rios has done this season for the most part, its been a great, and rather expected turn around from last year. However, right now our #3 hitter is killing us just when we need him the most. Hes been great all year, but his recent slump is so bad in terms of timing. He is 16 for his last 69 AB's, thats a .231 hitter, 8 RBI, 10K, and hit into 5 DP. I hope he comes out of it soon, he still looks at little lost at the plate. I have defiantly noticed a lot of swinging at pitches out of the zone or in the dirt. Has anyone noticed anything different? Is it his swing, is he getting tired, has the league adjusted?

So I wrote something about the White Sox

QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 01:11 PM) Congrats on getting this on FanGraphs Matt! http://www.fangraphs.com/community/index.p...-williams-mess/ Um I think Matt is the writer on Fangraphs, or fangraphs is using his blog article on their website. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 1, 2010 -> 03:14 PM) Now that is nickname! Hell yea thats a great freaking nickname.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 03:10 PM) We'll see how you feel if we have to trade Danks due to money issues or cannot re-sign Konerko. The trade would have never have been approved by JR if he felt that was the case.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:31 AM) MLBtraderumors brings up a good point about the Sox possibly trying to get Jackson just to flip him to the Nats for Dunn. It was either Olney or Rosenthal who said today that nobody may like a certain player more than the Nationals love Jackson. If so then are back to 2003 rotation 4 guys who can pitch a gigantic hole in that 5 spot that can get a win.

QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 10:55 PM) This is win. Definitely, hes such a butcher at 3B. Let him be a super Utility, sometimes DH guy for the rest of his tenure with the white sox.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 07:16 PM) Am I the only one who would rather have HD and no audio, then this garbage picture and audio? f*** WCIU Yeah WTF just happened. I was watching and all of a sudden it goes from HD to this crappy non-HD signal that is so not sharp I almost want to listen to the radio. This is joke. WCIU getting sox games is a waste; no pre game, no post game, no expanded regional audience. Why do we give them games again?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 04:43 PM) You're not finding a replacement unless you trade him. Not one that wouldn't have the same problems, at least. Carlos Torres can throw strikes....he just has lousy stuff.
