  1. I thought this article was interesting. I'm sure it was hard for Sox management to be in the top 5 payrolls and come up short of the playoffs. I for one agree with the balanced approach of having young and old. Hopefully there won't be a pitching fire sale (I doubt it), but we need get younger and cheaper guys to do something. I wonder where we'll be in 2007. http://www.telegram.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti...583/1009/SPORTS
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 05:50 PM) Ohh that's stupid. Over 5 months isn't enough? I read something somewhere about the cold weather not allowing them to work because the bonding agent they use wouldn't hold in that weather.
  3. Joe Borchard for Corey Patterson? (One bust for another)
  4. QUOTE(LDF @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) it is no secret that joe has back problems right now. do you think other owners would want damage goods? I'm just throwing it out there. But, he still performed well in the playoffs despite problems and teams always take risks (as we are taking with Thome). I'm wondering whether the Sox stance is so strong against Boras that Crede won't be signed after this year (I think this is his last contract year), then we might as well get something for him.
  5. Do you think that the possible signing of Meuller could mean that Crede could be traded? After all he is represented by Boras and his stock is at a peak (and has possible back problems to boot). This may be a good time to try to get something for him although AJ will be sad.
  6. Does anyone think PK cares about his stats in the long run? Because if he does, he would put up better numbers staying here. Could that factor in to his decision?
  7. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) Went to Vegas in March during March Madness weekend. I was betting like a madman during those games. Then I went to the sports book to look at the baseball odds. Was this/close to dropping $100 on the Sox. Then I thought to myself, "C'mon these are the Sox" :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead I was going to do the same thing (with less money) but my non-Sox friend said he would take the bet, I never gave him the money but he agreed early in the season to take me out to dinner if they won. To add insult to his injury he is an Astros fan. Also a month after the season started I placed $25 for the AL at 9-1 (cashed in $225) and $25 for the WS at 16-1 (makes $400). I'm feelin pretty good right now.
  8. If Duque is injured can he be replaced on the roster by B-mac?
  9. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) Nope. Fundamentals, the Bullpen Bar and the Patio are off limits for the series. Thanks for the info. What will they be used for? Empty or private parties?
  10. Do people know if the Bullpen Sportsbar will be open during the Series? I heard people with regular tickets don't have access as they would during the regular season. Is this true? Thanks!

  12. QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Oct 19, 2005 -> 08:37 AM) i received this from deb in reply to my email.... You should’ve received the following email last night from your new sales representative: Thank you for your interest in our on-line 2006 season tickets/World Series offer. As you might imagine we have received an overwhelming response and the demand for World Series tickets far exceeds what we have available. We are in the process of calling everyone whose order we can fill in order to confirm seat location and other details. Based on the number of orders we have already received, we will not be able to fill all orders. If you have not spoken with someone in our sales department by Friday at noon, it is highly unlikely that we will be able to fulfill your request. Once it is clear that we are not able to fulfill your request, we will refund the online fee to your credit card. As a reminder, by submitting your deposit online you acknowledged that World Series tickets are limited, and your offer to purchase 2006 season tickets and 2005 World Series tickets may not be accepted by the Chicago White Sox, in its discretion. Your order is not accepted until you have been contacted by an account executive, selected a seat location, your credit card has been charged and the charge of your credit card has been authorized by the applicable network. We appreciate your patience and your enthusiasm for the White Sox, and we hope you’ll continue to support us as we work to bring a World Series Championship to Chicago. Please note that most of those that came to U.S. Cellular Field were picking up already-placed orders, or solely putting in a request (as you did online), Those requests were and are still be filled first-come, first-served. Their requests did not guarantee World Series tickets – just as the online requests did not as well. We are making every effort to contact everyone by Friday. Thank you for your patience. I placed my order Monday night but I never got this e-mail so I'm assuming no hope for me.
  13. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) It might be, but that's the date of the return email. It would be interesting to see when he sent it to the White Sox. Anyway, this should all work out in the end. Thousands of dissappointed people are going to make sure they don't have to rely on ticketmaster or overworked and underpaid account reps, and buy ticket plans for next year, thus increasing the season ticketbase significantly. Too bad they didn't build the homerun porch, it could probably pay for itself fairly quickly. I'm not blaming account reps nor am I looking to pick fights. My only point is that if the offer were kept alive throughout so that one could have the option of purchasing for the next "possible" series they would have sold more season tickets. That is all.
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 12:27 PM) Demand exceeded supply and the ability to service the customers, they would and still will happily take your money....it just wasn't properly planned out. Worse things have happened..the Sox are actually in the World Series people!!!! I'm still happy they made it and will celebrate nonetheless, i just think they also missed out on an opportunity to do themselves and their fans a favor that's all.
