I want to get tickets to Friday's game. Would anyone want to purchase some together? I found some online for as low as $70. I would be willing to pay up to $125 or so. PM me if interested. Hope to see everyone there!

The White Sox were 35 or 40 to 1 to win the World Series at the beginning of the year. I put down a little bit of money after the first month of the season and got in at 16 to 1. Hope it works out! Also the odds don't always have to do with the real chances of a team to win. The odds are strategically designed to take into account popular bets. The Yankees and Red Sox are popular bets and the odds reflect that.

I agree with everyone as to the reasons why there are not bigger crowds especially because the sox fanbase isn't as well off as that of the cubs but, 1) you have to remember that they were probably asked direct questions about attendance and did not necessarily bring it up on their own and 2) i'm glad they feel strongly about having fans there because it means they give a s***. i think it would be worse if they said oh that's ok we don't care if there are fans here.

If we somehow got Griffey, what would be our best (playoff) lineup? Someone would have to sit during the playoffs which would be unfortunate. I figure you can't bench Pods because of speed, A-Row because of defense, Griffey's bat couldn't start on the bench. That leave's either Everett or Dye of which I think Everett would win by a bit IMO. What do you guys think?

Giving Ozzie the benefit of the doubt, Dustin has had a bad back and maybe it flared up but he was put in as an emergency. We don't have 73 victories as an accident, I say let's stick with em through thick and thin. According to the Trib: "Hermanson would have started the ninth if his back had felt fine. But left-hander Damaso Marte relieved Politte and walked Jason Giambi and Tino Martinez, both left-handed hitters, forcing Guillen to use Hermanson. After the game, Hermanson sported a thick wrap around his lower back while revealing his back started aching last weekend when he saved three games during a four-day span. "It's nothing I want to pitch with, but I'll do everything I can to get through this," Hermanson said." http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...tesox-headlines

What kind of trades can be made after the deadline? How do those work?

http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n.../s134856D18.DTL Brett Boone was traded to Minnesota, Do you think that's an answer to their problems? Will it affect us at all?

I know it's early but I was wondering how the playoff matchups are done. I know we can't play Minnesota so who would we play, the remaining worse record? I'm trying to figure out who to root for so that I can see the Sox in the playoffs out in California. Thanks

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 03:02 AM) I just want to say that Mark Disgrace was absolutely abdominally horriscus tonight during the mlb.tv broadcast. I mean he said that the chisox were tired of being chicagos second team? he then was making fun of Frank and his injury ... then continued to mock shingo by saying that his mr. zero in now mr. long ball... and then ripped the chicago media for trying to make him say things he didn't want to say. I just want to say that Mark Disgrace...YOU SUCK! thank god he was on the CUBS...now we know why you are such a sucker! I mean you really pissed me off! I heard the broadcast and didn't think he was talking down to us at all. He kept kissing Frank's butt if anything and he's doing an interview with him tomorrow. Shingo has been Mr. Long Ball unfortunately, and the Chicago media (aka Mariotti) can be assholes. I think you heard what you wanted to hear because I didn't see it that my but that just my two cents.

I don't necessarily agree with him but maybe it's his way of getting himself (and maybe his team) fired up with the whole "disrespect" thing that many teams like the patriots and pistons have used to motivate themselves. I don't know that this is what's actually going on for the whole team but it seems to be the way he carries (and motivates) himself.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 01:42 AM) No doubt about it. The idiots forced this policy, not the Sox. If morons could handle their beer, this would have never happened. Having been to other parks on the west coast (Seattle, San Francisco, Oakland, Anaheim and Los Angeles), none of them have beer sales in the stands. I wonder how much longer they will still do this in Chicago. Personally, I like not having to wait in lines and missing the game but I understand how it makes it much easier to get plastered.

QUOTE(sircaffey @ May 22, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) What??? Speed is great and this team is built around it, but we need SOME power. To put Pods at DH would be a terrible idea. 1B and DH is where the Sox are able to supply their power. we also need to consider difference in production playing on the field and staying warm versus being the DH. this seems especially important for a rythym and speed guy like Pods.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ May 21, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) Do MLB reduce the annual subscription prices for MLB TV later on in the season? I'm not sure about that, but the monthly subscription costs almost the same. you can do it monthly and see how you like it. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys but this absolutely sucks. I can't believe I'm missing one of the best games of the year.

Hey everyone, I need some help. I'm in Los Angeles and the game doesn't seem to be on FOX, nor is any other game. My MLB.TV won't let me watch due to national restrictions. Is there anything I can do? Thanks
-
I've been so excited to watch every game this year and have enjoyed sharing the feeling with everyone here. I'm in California and MLB.TV has been worth every penny. I also put $10 on the Sox to win the Series at 35:1 I know there's not too much substance to this post but I wanted to share the feeling with people who understand. GO SOX!!!

I don't like the Twinkies either but I think it makes it all the better. I want to beat them when they are at their best ala BoSox Yanks last year. It would make it that much sweeter.

I find it very frustrating that everyone focuses on our losing our power hitters but rarely do people point out why. We looked for value on offense and focused on pitching. Obviously our pitching is better, and a big reason for that is that we invested money that was saved from the power hitters into pitching. As much as small/smart ball is talked about I think the main focus of the offseason was pitching, adding El Duque, Hermanson, and Vizcaino along with the acquisitions of Freddy and Contreras last year.
-
I don't post much, but I thought I could add to this a bit. The biggest change will hopefully be consistency. The thing that has frustrated me in the past is not knowing which team will show up, (5 home runs or no runs). Case in point, the 2003 club had the same players as 2004 but the offense was not too great that year even though pitching stepped up. The way the team is setup now, at least we can keep teams scoring less with our defense and pitching and manufacture the couple of runs that we need to pull of a win. I'd rather win 90-100 games by 1-2 run margin than 80 games by large margins. Obviously we will see if they can execute the game plan.
-
I agree, RJ won't come here unless we strengthen the team in other places which won't be able to happen with his big salary unless they decide to raise the budget (unlikely). I think we should sign the best free agent pitcher. I think a lefty would help balance out the rotation. Odalis Perez maybe, with Garland as a number 5 would be a solid rotation while maintaining a solid lineup. Then add in another reliever. Sounds good to me.

Hey everyone, Let's get another White Sox all star on the team vote for Paulie as many times as you can.
-
He should go back on the roids to hit 100 again

Good Job Guys! All we can do is our part. I'm a Sox fan that now lives in California but my loyalty only becomes stronger in a foreign land. Go White Sox!!!

Go to ESPN.COM to vote the White Sox as baseball's most exciting offense. Let's all support our favorite team!
