Fukudome complains to Japanese press about sitting
Marty34 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Viciedo should not see the field against RH pitching right now. Best lineup against righties would be: Fukudome Beckham Dunn Konerko De Aza Rios AJ Ramirez Lillibridge -
That's the Beckham they drafted.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 8, 2012 -> 05:57 PM) And obviously, it is clearly disproven by a single game. more like by each passing start . . .

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 8, 2012 -> 05:38 PM) If they do, we still have a shot, it's still early, but we absolutely need these guys to get better if we're going to compete this year. That said..if they don't get better, that's why it's a rebuilding year...if Beckham and Morel continue to fail, and Sale stays in the bullpen, then we'll know the places we need to upgrade in the offseason going in to next year. (and nicely, we at least appear to have one solid success in De Aza, who will fill a big need for the next several years cheaply if he just keeps doing what he's doing right now). With the starters in complete dissaray for 2013 you might as well give Beckham, Morel, and Viciedo another chance next year too.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 8, 2012 -> 07:52 AM) Stop it, you know better. A 23 year old with 300 total minor league innings who gets beaten up in his first start at AAA is never going to amount to anything and you can always project everyone's future performance based on what they did today. Quintana will be the ace of aces, Philip Humber is a lost cause. The thing is our GM said he was a top-of-the-rotation prospect the consensus opinion disagreed with that. KW is the one who raised expectations for Molina.

The attendance issue will fix itself once there is a management team in place with a plan for sustained success and fans start to see results. None of this year we are all in, next year we're not stuff.

Gameday Thread-Doubleheader Special: White Sox vs Indians

QUOTE (flavum @ May 7, 2012 -> 08:35 PM) For crappy-drawing teams like the Indians, especially in April and May, you'd think they would do that. Good teams, I get why they do day/night. That said, if this was a straight doubleheader, it would have started at 3 or 4 central, and we'd be in the same place anyway. You're right about the start time, forgot about that. -

What sucks is there was no reason for this game to be a day/night DH. The 2nd game should have started 1/2 hour after the first one ended. -
Is it too early to question Molina as a top of the rotation prospect?

QUOTE (Baron @ May 7, 2012 -> 07:47 PM) I was really excited when we got him.But its looking more and more like he is a reliever. He has been giving up way to many hits and to no surprise he got shelled. Kenny said he can be a top of the rotation starter. We shall see. -

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 7, 2012 -> 05:39 PM) Was he ever a #3 hitter at Toronto? Rios has so much talent but the Blue Jays paid him an awful lot on money and we took on the risk. But, I haven't given up on 2012 with him yet. At the time of them picking Rios up they probably figured they had their 3rd place hitter in Quentin, figuring that Rios could play up to his contract when he moved to CF, and they'd have sustained revenues to afford it. Unfortunately, they were wrong. They haven't been right about much in recent years. -

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 7, 2012 -> 05:07 PM) Maybe not but thqat was their original line up plan L-R-L-R which meant putting Dunn third. I wouldn't have a problem putting Paulie third and Dunn clean up though. Might work even This is where the Rios contract really hurts them. Playing RF, he's being paid like a #3 hitter. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2012 -> 04:47 PM) Instead he should periodically post thinly veiled questions which are asked in the bias of his overall position and pretend that it is valuable discussion. No problem. I'll make those posts in the "catch all" thread.

QUOTE (bighurt574 @ May 7, 2012 -> 04:45 PM) The problem is that most of the parts we have to sell don't have all that much trade value. Isn't that the truth. You wonder how many of this team's core would even get claimed on waivers given their contracts.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2012 -> 04:41 PM) It's not collective, it's very narrowly, deliberately targeted amnesia. It's cool if you want Kenny back, just say it. Don't hide behind that's what's "going to happen."
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 7, 2012 -> 04:25 PM) Are we suffering collective amnesia? Seemed like everyone realized this past offseason that this was a rebuilding year. KW's target is 2013 or 2014. The organization, all they way to Jerry, realize this. The chances of them taking Kenny out of the picture before sometime in 2013 at the earliest are basically zero, barring some weird personal circumstance coming up. I don't see Kenny being the GM of this team in 2013 as being a given at all. I don't understand where people get this from.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 7, 2012 -> 03:42 PM) 27 picks after the Tigers pick White Sox took Addison Reed Solid point.

QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 7, 2012 -> 03:33 PM) 1) Hagadone pitched fine? He entered with the game 8-6 with one on and nobody out...the game ended 8-6. He induced two flyballs, a grounder and a he walked a guy. 2) There was absolutely ZERO chance Hagadone wasn't facing Dunn. It just goes to show what happens when your two hole hitter is so bad. The other team has zero fear in facing them righty or lefty. Best case scenario is Lilli finds a way on-base (walk, RBI hit) and the score is 8-6 or 8-7 with Dunn coming up...and we all know that Dunn has almost no chance against LHP. Acta knows this. I think it was a very good move by Acta. Lilli has been equal opportunity suck this season vs. righties or lefties. Dunn isn't a #3 hitter that's one of the problem's with this team. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2012 -> 02:38 PM) You're the one who said that this pitching staff was built to compete, I'm the one who said it was a rebuilding pitching staff. You tell me? Ok, since you were wrong I will graciously tell you. There is no other option. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2012 -> 02:32 PM) Quintana has had 1 month (April, 2012) where he's pitched above A-ball in his career. Expecting him to jump from A Ball to the big league rotation in 5 weeks seems excessive. Sure it does, but what other choices are there? -
Does Kenny make it through the year?

Four picks after the Sox selected Petricka in the 2010 draft the Tigers took Drew Smyly.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2012 -> 01:34 PM) 1/8 of a season at rookie ball and 1/4 of a season at low A after being drafted, one full season at high A, 1/2 season at AA, 1/2 season at AAA before being moved into starting in the big leagues. Danny Valencia was drafted at the same age and got almost 1.5x as many minor league PA's as Morel before coming up, just as a "prospect philosophy comparison". Valencia can't play either.
