QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 15, 2012 -> 02:49 PM) Did you watch Rios play CF at all last season? Seriously? Did you get tired of picking on Viciedo so the new target is DeAza? Why not Morel or Nestor Molina? Shouldn't Dave Dombrowski get fired if the Tigers don't win the AL Central this season? Rios is a better CF'er than De Aza and I like Dave Dombrowski.

Rios is a better CF'er than De Aza, switch them.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 15, 2012 -> 01:06 PM) If he was a better CF, he'd play more shallow. If he played more shallow, he'd have had that much farther to go back to get to that screaming line drive Fielder hit last night, and probably still not gotten it, just not looked as bad while doing it. Therefore, he should play more shallow so we can criticize his range rather than his positioning. It's clear that you are ok with him in CF. I am not.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 15, 2012 -> 12:56 PM) So if he played shallow...he'd have gotten to that ball over his head? If you are uncomfortable playing center, you play deeper.
-
He plays so deep many times his first step or two is in that's how he got burned last night.

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ May 14, 2012 -> 11:21 PM) ...you're saying that a CF with a 123 OPS+ batting leadoff full-time should be a platoon corner OF? Why? Please give evidence. He can't play CF and he can't hit lefties. Let him put up that OPS at a corner OF spot.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 14, 2012 -> 06:31 PM) Stroman was projected as a dominant reliever until this year where he's made a stellar transition to a starter. Some don't like his height, but his stuff is electric. He has a good fastball, a wipeout slider, and a decent changeup. Also throws a cutter every now and then. He's pitched himself into the top 10 to 15 of this draft class. I'm a fan and think he can remain a starter. If not, you have a high leverage reliever on your hands who won't need much of any time in the minors. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2012/4/13/2...-marcus-stroman I hear what you're saying, but Stroman's height would be an issue for me. I don't think he sticks as a SP.

Smyly looks very good. How could you pass him over for Jakob Petricka (picked 4 picks earlier)?
-
De Aza nearly had another one (that stayed in the air a good while) fall in front of him.
-
Danks doesn't have the stuff to put anyone away when he gets 2 strikes on them.
-
I swear Fielder was thinking 2 on that single up the middle as De Aza was playing on the track.
-
Alexei Ramirez is brutal at the dish.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 14, 2012 -> 07:18 PM) How many pitches does John Danks have? 1? Yep and it's called "ball"

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 14, 2012 -> 06:46 PM) I do. I may think less of KW than you do, but you let your agenda cloud your judgement. You can't have a total success story on the White Sox. You can't blast De Aza's offense, so you have to blast his defense, and all the advanced saber stats have him above average at the moment. I know there is a sample size issue, but De Aza after really struggling, has played a decent CF the past few weeks. Tank is very shaky as could be expected in LF. De Aza is a LF'er playing CF. He covers the gaps at the expense of letting balls drop in front of him. He's a stopgap who's best position would be a 400 AB corner OF.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 14, 2012 -> 06:26 PM) Its laughable you think Viciedo is fine defensively and De Aza is not. You need to watch a game now and again, Dick.

Sale back to the rotation per KW, MRI comes back clean

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 14, 2012 -> 03:40 PM) That's like their one f*** up since Friedman took over. I read something at a Tampa blog a year or so ago that the only two other players they considered other than Beckham were Alvarez and Posey. Alvarez wouldn't have made much sense with Longoria at 3B and just about ready to hit the bigs, though I guess they could've shifted him (Alvarez) over to 1B eventually. Could you imagine them with Posey? Dayum. I read that the Angels thought the Nationals were going to take going to take Trout before he got to them, instead they took Storen. Imagine Harper and Trout in the same outfield. -
Vicido has been fine defensively in LF. The problem is De Aza is not a CF'er. The only Sox CF'er who I can remember playing as deep as De Aza was Griffey, Jr. and he was 39 at the time.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 14, 2012 -> 05:00 PM) Why? The extra Wild Card should have increased demand for players by giving more teams legit hope of a playoff spot, and that's the biggest change this year. There should be even fewer teams in a sellers position. The extra Wild Card will actually decrease demand because instead of playing a best of 5 series, they play a 1-game playoff. I don't see any team in the Wild Card race mortgaging their future for a 1-game playoff.

I doubt the trade deadline will be very lucrative for teams selling.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 13, 2012 -> 10:01 AM) And you don't get the contradiction in that at all? This team should win now, so Kenny has to be fired. No more deflections, no more agenda. That doesn't make any sense at all, no matter how many different ways you come up with to try to frame the team into the worst possible setting. No contradiction at all. This team is at the end of its window to win, if it does not there is nothing on the farm to rebuild with and no logical reason for keeping Williams. -

QUOTE (Reddy @ May 13, 2012 -> 09:48 AM) it's not a personal insult because you LIKE Joe Cowley. To think otherwise would prove you've been trolling all along. It's meant to demean. Don't mind, big boy I can handle it, but I find it sad that SS2K would say that I resort to personal insults after he demeaned me. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 13, 2012 -> 09:33 AM) No. The one who should be embarrassed is you. The whole everything should mean Kenny gets fired, even when it doesn't make any sense at all, thing, is just demeaning to the people who post here. The sad part is, I don't think you even see the contradictions in your narrative. Then again, maybe you do, which is why you refuse to answer to anything when you get challenged. Instead you just drop down to personal insults. Referring to me as "Joe" is not a personal insult? That's an absolute insult given the way people on Soxtalk feel about Cowley after he beat you down for being wrong about the Gonzalez rumours. My position is there's nothing to rebuild with if this year's team tanks therefore Kenny has to go. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 13, 2012 -> 09:22 AM) I honestly didn't think you would be able to defend and articulate your position, so you would resort to a cute quip instead. And you were willing to embarrass yourself for the purpose. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 13, 2012 -> 09:12 AM) And at the end of the day, Marty's position is self-contradictory (image that Joe...) He is trying to argue that the Sox have a win now team, and a team that should win the division, yet the GM is an idiot who needs to be fired now. If he has the best team in the division, why does he need to be fired? That means he is doing his job. It would be much smarter to argue that this team sucks, and it is all Kenny's fault, which is why he should be fired. The whole idea that if argue the contradictions of Marty, you have an agenda is just stupid. After all, who is the person who shows up on a regular basis firing off just genius thread titles as... "Time to Move Rios" "Wrapping Up April-Tough Start for Rebuild Crowd" "Closing Time -Hector Isn't Cutting It - Who Will?" "Viciedo Not Worth The Wait" "Farmer is Awful" "KW: Stay Out of White Sox Minor League Business" Tell me again, who has the agenda, Marty? Pathetic attempt at deflection there Joe. You are embarrassing yourself.
