9/8 GT: Sox @ Detroit - 6:05pm CDT - CSN+
Marty34 replied to knightni's topic in 2010 Season in Review
Team is mentally exhausted. Only natural considering the way the Twins are playing. -
QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 06:56 PM) I suppose that's true but I think if Ozzie hadn't brought us the WS title he would've been gone by now. I honestly think the organization puts up with his attitude simply because that sticks in their head. Blind loyalty as it has been said before. That's just what I think, though. The Strat-O-Matic crowd is at it again.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 6, 2010 -> 04:40 PM) There is no reason to even read past that since no one with half a brain would want to pick Kotsay over Thome no matter what reasons you throw out there. Kotsay and Santos over Thome.

Seems like no one that posts here has ever been in a locker room. Managing a team is a lot different than managing a damn strat-o-matic game.

QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) Yeah, because we were lucky enough to play like absolute s*** and beat a team that did the same, Ozzie is a great manager for no actual reason and guys like me are stupid for wanting the guy fired when he clearly has no idea what he's doing? Yeah, that's "reality," huh? "Average" fans? You mean the kind that don't understand anything about baseball? Are you TRYING to make yourself look bad? With people like you, nothing that every goes wrong is Ozzie's fault, but everything that goes right is attributed to him even if he has nothing to do with it. Also, we're 16 games over barely in contention in an abysmal division. Hey, I love the fact we came back in the 9th, but the truth is we are HORRID with RISP and our manager is clueless in his in-game managing, it's just that simple. "Non-reality?" Giving the manager credit for everything but refusing to admit his incompetence on the most obvious of f***-ups? THAT'S "non-reality." To quote a specific film, "Nothing you just said comes close to forming a rational thought. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul." My God, greg... what can I even say about you? Almost ALL your posts are sig worthy. You have an irrational hatred for Ozzie . . .

How can Ozzie be doing a bad job when they're playing .559 ball in a season where Freddy Garcia has 4 more wins than Ace, Jake Peavy. Come on folks.
-
Cubs fans blame managers, Sox fans know better.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 03:21 PM) Matt Thonrton's left handed too. Thornton's bad at holding runners on. Very bad. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 03:21 PM) There was 2 outs...who cares! But thanks, you basically admitted that Francona schooled Ozzie. Who cares? You'd rather have the tying run in scoring position with two out as opposed to on first?
-
Buehrle was kept in there to keep Patterson from stealing second.
-
Put Manny on deck!
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 12:36 PM) So, I'm to believe that Manny was pissed about sitting on the bench in LA, but requests it in Chicago after 4 games marty? Yes. Being "benched" in LA is a whole lot different than a day off with the Sox.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 10:39 AM) Or....Kotsay is a .400 hitter off Beckett and Manny has never faced him.... Doubt it, Ozzie's not a stats guy.
-
QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 10:26 AM) Ozzie better not think he is going to give Manny the day off every time we play a day game after a night game. I'll give him a pass today because of the DH, but otherwise Manny should play everyday. Do you really think it's Ozzie's idea to rest Manny? Manny is a high maintenance player and in an attempt to get the best out of him these are things you have to do. Everyone knew that when they got him. It's like going to a Sox game and complaining about the $7 beers.
-
Ozzie managed the hell out this DH today too.
-
Hamilton and Andrus won't play tomorrow. We'll need to sweep series.
-
I don't know how the hell he's doing it, I just hope he keeps it up.
-
QUOTE (spiderman @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 09:01 PM) I agree he can still hit, but I prefer him in the #5 spot. If he starts raking, then move him on up. Rios has really hurt them in the three spot of late. Besides, you don't pay somebody $4M a month to bat 5 or 6.
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 09:00 PM) What are the random numbers and one letter for? Positions. B=Batter or DH.
-
QUOTE (spiderman @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 08:49 PM) He's not the Manny Ramirez of a few years ago. He's just back from the DL, and he hasn't had a great season. By no means am I against this move, I just don't see him displacing Rios and Konerko in the 3/4 spots. He's the best hitter on the team. He'll bat third.
-
QUOTE (spiderman @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 08:32 PM) 1) Manny will NOT be batting 3rd or 4th for the White Sox. It will be 5th or 6th in the order. Why?
-
Lillibridge.
-
Time to put the pedal to the metal. My preferred lineup tomorrow: 7 Pierre 4 Beckham B Ramirez 3 Konerko 9 Teahen 8 Rios 2 AJ 6 Ramirez 5 Vizquel
-
So Ozzie at worst is a top 10 manager.
-
Are there even 5 managers better than Ozzie? I don't think so.
