QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 26, 2013 -> 11:30 AM) Based on the renewal rates, it is pretty obvious, unless you have an agenda. How do you figure from the numbers you quoted? Agenda . . .
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 10:02 PM) 100's of points increase, 90+% season ticket renewal rate, 99+% renewal for the most expensive seats. How is that vague? Sounds good, but tells us very little because we don't know how many new season tickets they sold last year. Have the new sales outpaced the non-renewals?
-
QUOTE (YASNY @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 06:33 PM) What difference does it make? Don't ask me. All I said was I'll believe it (increased Sox ticket sales) when I see it. That's enough to start a firestorm.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 05:53 PM) The ones you ignored in the initial post to pick on the language in an attempt to make a point that Boyer lied. Boyer didn't lie, he gave the vaguest of numbers.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 05:14 PM) Boyer gave the callers the numbers. You have no idea what you are talking about. What are those numbers?

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 04:06 PM) I love this is the Matt Lindstrom thread and yet Marty has found a way to derail yet another thread by spewing the same unrelated garbage again and again. Wasn't me who derailed it.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 03:59 PM) Right, so Kenny failed by not trading for a lefty-platoon player for Viciedo sometime over the last three games of the season. Fair enough.
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 02:55 PM) Take out all his good games, and I bet his OPS is s***. Cherry pick all you want. BTW, it's probably the .730 as referenced earlier. That's still better than most of the team put up. What was it against RH'ers?
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 02:56 PM) You're the numbers guy. You said he was spinning. What does it mean? He did say the most expensive seats in the house were re-newed at 99%, and considering they went up in price, that is positive, with an overall renewal rate over 90%. Last year it was about 50%. Ok, now we're getting somewhere. This is positive if it can be proven last year's renewal rate was 50%

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 02:52 PM) And Pierre, the guy Marty wanted to get to platoon with him had a .595 OPS in August. Guilty, Dick Allen.
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 02:47 PM) Viciedo - September - .896 OPS, best on the team, excluding Dan Johnson's 31 plate appearances Take the last 3 games against Cleveland out, what's his OPS?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 02:27 PM) When we're talking about replacing him with Juan Pierre....kinda. No.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 02:00 PM) I think Ventura would be one who knows about fighting through struggles as a young player I don't want a manager who puts development ahead of winning a division in August and September.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 02:25 PM) What are the actual numbers? I will guess and say you have no idea, but you do know Boyer isn't being straight. I just don't see why he would have to spin anything considering the audience. I don't know what he meant by being hundreds of points ahead of last year. How many tickets does that translate to?
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 02:06 PM) There's no animosity. I just don't understand your never ending quest for the negative. I've bashed the Sox plenty. I am not one to say everything they do is perfect, but every little thing White Sox related, you have some negative comment. Why would Boyer BS a blogger conference call? I just don't understand why my being negative bothers you.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 02:04 PM) So Boyer is lying? He's spinning.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 02:02 PM) I'm not sure what you are saying here. Are you calling me a liar? Not at all. Saying Boyer's job is to put the best Sox spin on things.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 02:00 PM) I don't swing that way. Come on Dick Allen. A friendly handshake to end the animosity.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 01:57 PM) That's hot. For once, I agree with you B. That's funny!
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 01:47 PM) We're all doomed.............. Dick Allen I'd really like to meet you at a game this year so we can bury your hatchet.
-
Don't know what Boyer means by "hundred of points ahead" of last year, but when it comes to ticket sales unless they issue a press release stating season ticket sales are up X amount of percent I'll believe it when I see it.
-
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 12:57 PM) Exactly. It's one thing to evaluate in retrospect, but these decisions weren't made in retrospect, Marty. The Sox had this thing in the bag -- all they had to do was exactly what they had been doing thew entire season. By the time everyone knew it was over, it was already over. At the very least, throwing AB after AB away in July, August, and September by not platooning Viciedo doesn't give me a ton of faith in Ventura.
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 10:31 AM) And yet, the Sox were in first place with two weeks to go, and he was hardly the only one who struggled in those final two weeks. I can't even point to WAR or anything in this situation - if, like, 2 guys step up and play better, the Sox, at the very least, likely have a play-in game against Detroit. Instead, Detroit got hot, the Sox got cold, and they lost the division. I'll repeat LF production against RH'ed pitching was the easiest problem they could have fixed and they did nothing about it. I don't know if that's on the GM or manager, but I found it disappointing.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 10:02 AM) Hes a young guy who needs to figure things out at the plate, he is not going to get a chance to do that on the bench. Platooning him would really hamper his development in the long run. If he is going to be a cornerstone for this offense, as appears to be the plan, he needs to get at bats and learn to make adjustments. There were a lot of players that slid in the second half of the season, no reason to damage the future of your franchise to try to cover up for that. Development takes a distant back seat to winning games in August & September when the team is in a pennant race.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 09:13 AM) on what? Relievers and Travis Hafner? 2014
