  1. The Royals largest contract ever was to Gil Meche 10 years ago. No, they are not who I think of when it comes to signing top of the line free agents.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 07:04 PM) So essentially the Sox have a 25% chance of getting either Upton or Cespedes, right? 50% chance if my math is correct.
  3. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 06:05 PM) Or both That's where I'm at. I really think it'll be both or neither.
  4. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 12:05 PM) This is actually a pretty good low-risk, high-reward signing. This is much better than the high-risk, low yeild signing of LaRoche. There's no high reward here.
  5. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 07:24 AM) I'd take Cespedes over Upton because I like his bat better and doesn't cost a pick. Pick should have no bearing on anything if you're about to hand out 140 million+
  6. Finally some actual character development for Reigns. Great stuff.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 13, 2015 -> 06:37 PM) Hayes and Merkin tweet every day it seems like that the Sox won't go after someone with QO. And I get that if it's a small time free agent. But if you're willing to spend the insane amount on Upton then draft pick of little concern. If it's Upton vs Cespedes and they choose Cespedes, then I really f***ing hope it's because they like him better, and not because of the draft pick.
  8. Draft picks should be of the least concern if you're dishing out 150 million dollars.
  9. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 03:37 PM) How much do you think Comcast will pay the cubs to be carried on Comcast after the cubs bail on Comcast. Well Reinsdorf will own controlling interest of the network so hopefully 0 dollars.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) Aren't the Cubs planning to do the "Private network" move when their contract is up in 2019? Yeah, which means their stake(well, 67% of it) in CSN gets sold to Reinsdorf who will take about a 55% ownership stake in the network, which is tied directly to the teams and not the actual owner.
  11. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 02:59 PM) The Sox are not going to get a competitive TV deal. Low attendance, lowest viewership of any team on a RSN. They are going to have to do something different to compete for a contract like those that you see other teams getting. They have ownership in their own network and that % is about to spike way up thanks to the Cubs. They don't need a competitive deal.
  12. TV deals becoming ridiculous are the exact reason the Sox would never ever move. They drive everything. This isnt the 70s. Even if people aren't tuning in, the potential will always be there for them to do so, and there's no chance in hell MLB gives that up.
  13. Fortunately MLB would never give up a local TV contract in Chicago. That's where the money is these days anyways.

  15. Twitter rumors of 31.5 aav. I'm at peace with this if that becomes true.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:33 PM) All about the hype for the Cubs prospects. Amazing to me Baez has as much value as they make it seem. Castro didn't have anything remotely near the value the Cubs and their press made it seem, so I guess there's that.
  17. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 12:23 PM) And the only thing we've done is sign 2 catchers and Brett Lawrie. We're doomed. Next year is going to be so bad. We're all gonna die. Cubs winning the World Series would put the sox pretty close to their death bed if they stay bad.
  18. I guess the good news is that their success will still hinge on Arrietas elbow. Still think they should have blown their stack on a top of the line pitcher.
  19. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 11:54 AM) Morosi and real Rosenthal are hinting that's the case anyway Nothing to indicate that on Ken's twitter. Or Morosi's for that matter.
