  1. I'd like to see this experiment tried. Just keep away the catch-alls.
  2. That'd actually be pretty amazing. HHH did offer they had position open for someone to join. But yeah highly highly unlikely.
  3. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 03:27 PM) For sure but Upton costs a top 30 draft pick and Cespedes does not. Cespedes will get a lot more regardless I would bet.
  4. I think Rice will win easy. Loyola will edge HF in the state champion...er quarters. Marist will win again. Naperville Central will cruise. Loyola takes out Rice in a closer rematch. Marist gets destroyed to end their run. Loyola officially wins state.
  5. If Boras wasn't his agent, perhaps he would have been.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 12:20 PM) Funny thing about privilege in wealthy black families, is its kind of equal to being in the 30k wealth level of white americans (pg 97) http://www.patricksharkey.net/images/pdf/S...ey_AJS_2014.pdf I don't see a page 97. I see stuff about black families and 100k and neighborhoods they lived in. That's not applicable if that's where you're going. The Butlers are richer than even most 1%ers.
  7. Dosent that mean their ownership of CSN reverts to Reinsdorf alongside the Blackhawks? Good news for us
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 11:16 AM) I'm not sure Butler needs to acknowledge his white privilege because he's rich, which is what he asked of the President. If he wants leaders to acknowledge publicly announce their privilege, then Butler, as a leader himself coming from generational wealth, should do the same.
  9. You're all rookies for being chased by mole rats. Jk haven't played 4 yet
  10. You can be critical overall of his defense but he certainly does not have a below average arm.
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 07:57 AM) Maybe I'm missing some underlying story here but... what difference does it make that Butler's family is rich? He demanded the president acknowledge his privilege. Do you think you don't have privilege by having that kind of money? He should acknowledge it himself then.
  12. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 07:14 AM) The more I think about it, I'm all for giving Thompson a look in CF, sliding Eaton over to LF, & moving Melky to DH. We'd still need to add a strong two-way player for RF and dump LaRoche, but that would greatly improve our outfield defense vs. last year. Just have a bad feeling Avi is still in the plans for RF. I think Eaton could handle RF. His arm is extremely good for being a slappy lead-off man (I know he's not that, but still. Better arm than you imagine looking at him).
  13. Since it came out this am that Butler's family is unfathomably rich, do you think he'll write a handwritten letter acknowledging his privilege?
  14. Seriously. Barring beating OSU this weekend he should not even be in the conversation.
  15. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 09:27 AM) Could Nobuhiro Matsuda be an option at 3B? He's already 32 but has put up nice numbers in Japan. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/11/nobu...eda-timing.html Here's one of his homers: Very interesting. You'd have to think a 32 year old who hasn't played outside Japan would come very cheap. Would love to explore that. Also he does not require a posting fee. So even cheaper.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 01:03 PM) I'm not sure how to gauge the majority of the missouri fan base. I think any time you try and jump into a complicated situation that has been developing for months after the fact by reading a single news article and then start claiming the football team is the real racists and that all of this stuff is no big deal is ignorant. I think the latching on of colege students to the idea that getting the authority figures to create some sort of deus ex machina rule that solves "community" issues is immature and naive. On the other hand, this isn't the Yale stuff. This has been going on for months. Saying "oh its not about that" is a weird thing to say when you didn't even know about it until saturday. Your fanbase seems vehemently against the strike from about every source I've scoured online. Obviously not a great gauge, that's why I was politely asking you for your opinion. I'm not basing anything off reading "one article" online. I've talked to both alum and students alike about it. People who think there's a problem and those who don't. What seems to be universal is the questioning of the motivations and merthods of Johnathan Butler.
  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 01:27 PM) As someone who has been here the entire time, not even close. There has been a steady stream of racism since Ferguson. There have been notable events. Grads had health benefits and tuition waivers cut. Planned Parenthood's university sponsorship was removed due to political pressure. Protests were had, rallies were had, letters and petitions sent. Wolfe didn't respond ever. That was the problem. I feel like you just agreed with me? They didn't get the necessary attention until a racism element was brought into it.
  18. Well what do you think? Seems like the majority of the mizzou fan base has turned on the team.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 11:51 AM) Once again a terrible time to have a coaching vacancy. Illinois could have hit a homerun last season and hired Tom Herman. Nah the candidate pool is deep and good. Better than it was a year ago. It's a good time for a vacancy.
  20. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 11:39 AM) Maybe, but Illinois is at the bottom of the pecking order for coaches, so timing matters less. That'd make it matters more, not less. That said I'm just glad Thomas is gone.
  21. Sounds like some idiot didn't like his health benefits getting cut and tried staging a walkout. No one cared at all so he had to find another way for attention and claimed racism to do it.
