-
He has 9 at bats the last 12 days.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 22, 2014 -> 07:17 AM) So I take it Noesi will go into the bullpen now and Carroll stays in the rotation for the time being? Carroll is going to the pen

Petrika wishes he had that zone

Tight ass strike zone these last two batters

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 21, 2014 -> 04:36 PM) Package that s*** with everything else for one of Love or Melo or watch your fanbase finally revolt. Oh wait, there's idiots in this city. Nevermind. Draft all the role players and sign all the white guys (not named Love). I agree it's better to package them for a star. But it's unlikely. I was merely asking about draft night.

So how far do you think packaging 16 and 19 can get you? 11? 12?

Chris Sale to start Thu May 22 vs Yankees

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 21, 2014 -> 01:39 PM) I would be kind of surprised to see that honestly. Carroll has to be the #1 name to go right now. Yeah they are both terrible and in an ideal world wouldn't be on the roster. At least maybe Carroll can mop given our starters unique ability to go less than 6 innings. Oh he seems like a good guy too unlike Frankie who beats on us fans. #TeamFarewellFrancisco -

QUOTE (ptatc @ May 21, 2014 -> 10:43 AM) The problem with this is you can say that putnam and petricka are pitching are currently pitching at an elite level. There is no track record for them. Are you going to move them around based on only how they are currently pitching? If they have a couple of bad outings do you move them? Pitchers like routine. They will respond better if they know about what their job is. If you continually switch everything around based on their last or last two outings you will lose the bullpen. I don't really think that's true, especially for these two, who have completely been jerked around this year and ate doing amazing. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 21, 2014 -> 09:45 AM) I don't agree that he's one of the worst. Of the current relievers, the only one I'd 100% of the time take over him is Belisario. Lindstrom, Putnam, Webb, and Petricka are all interchangeable as far as I'm concerned, so going with the guy who has some experience in the closer's role makes a hell of a lot of sense. Well agree to disagree then. Maybe one of the worst is too harsh, but hes not one of the best either. Belisario, Putnam, and Petrika are all pitching at an elite level. Webb has the experience in the minors, nice potential, and has been mostly better than Lindstrom this year anyways. I'd rather see any of those guys close. Or get rid of the role all together but we know that's likely not to happen, even if they won't officially name one now. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 21, 2014 -> 09:38 AM) Your "closer," or the guy that pitches the 9th inning, doesn't have to be your best pitcher. You want your best pitcher available to throw in the 7th, 8th, AND 9th innings. I've mentioned it before, but the Sox organization, like every other organization in baseball, is very aware of leverage in pitching situations, and they want their best pitchers available for the highest leverage spots. The 9th inning, up by 1 or 2, with no outs and no one on base is pretty much a medium leverage spot, all things considered. He also has a GO/AO of 1.75, so it's not like a lot of the hits he gave up were bullets all over the field. They're pretty much all going to be singles. Correct. Which is why I mentioned him being our 5th best reliever. The closer doesn't need to be your best guy but he shouldn't be one of your worst, either. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 21, 2014 -> 09:25 AM) In a rebuilding season, who cares. This year is all about maximizing the worth of assets who won't be around when we are actually good again. Losing one of those assets means there is no chance at getting anything for him. We're 1.5 out of the wild card for now. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 21, 2014 -> 09:28 AM) I don't understand that mindset either. He was 6 out of 9 in saves, but was bad for really only one of those. He blew a save against the Indians where Abreu made an error and Alexei ended up walking the Indians off anyways, and then against Boston, he blew a save where Cleto walked the first 2 guys of the inning, Lindstrom gave up a single and then nothing after that. He's not ideal, but I had no problem there and if it had helped improve trade value, then it's that much better. He has a 1.47 WHIP. He's the 5th best righty reliever on the team. He should not be the closer. -

The good news is that he's out of the closers role. -

It's good news until we are out of the wild card race. -
1. Micah Johnson 2. Tim Anderson 3. Tyler Danish 4. Courtney Hawkins 5. Matt Davidson *Fall off a massive, massive cliff* 6. Trey Michalczewski 7. Carlos Sanchez 8. Rangel Ravelo Um I can't even fill out these last two spots. I guess: 9. Chris Beck 10. Trayce Thompson
