Who willl win the Boras/Jay-Z agent war?
Buehrle>Wood replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
Maybe he wont reach Boras' level but itt people are really selling Jay-Z short. -
Spirit is an absolutely miserable airlines. But they shouldn't charge you if it's them who run out of room. At least they didn't to me.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Nov 7, 2013 -> 05:50 PM) I'm too risk averse for this...simply because of the lay. To keep numbers low and simple: Buy 100 shares of Twitter at 47 = 4705$ including trade commission (let's be generous and say the trade commission was only 5$) Sell 100 shares of Twitter at 50 = 5005$ including the same trade commission. That's a quick profit of 300$ Now, subtract 30+% on short term cap gains, so let's call it a profit of 210$. So, you essentially laid 4705$ to win a bet of 210$. I simply cannot do this type of trading. Edit: Of course, I understand that it's not like Vegas where it's a zero sum game, either win the 210$ or lose everything, but it does have a potential loss into the thousands. I expect Twitter to draw back much like Facebook did after it's buzz wears thin, and unlike Facebook, Twitter is quite far from posting any sort of profit. I trade professionally so my commission fees are thankfully a lot better than that. Stuff like Twitter today is a dream thanks to how volatile it is. There was a lot of free money to be had.

I hope Ball State loses out. -
QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Nov 7, 2013 -> 03:15 AM) "Given the wide discrepancy in pricing, we are notifying customers who ordered these items that their orders have been canceled and that they'll be refunded in full. In addition, we will send these customers a $10 e-gift card that can be used toward future purchases at Walmart stores and Walmart.com" Yeah this is what I got in the email, although no item has been actually cancelled yet from the looks of things.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 7, 2013 -> 01:37 AM) Oh boy. We just went 96 yards in 3 plays. 14-0 with 4 minutes left in the first quarter. This could get ugly soon.... I got them -20.5. I hope so. -
Guarantee the opening price will be a lot higher than that. That price is different from the ipo offering fwiw.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 6, 2013 -> 07:35 PM) Thanks for the heads up I didn't want to ruin the deals for myself now. But really I was at work and not logging in from there

Walmarts online store had massive price mistakes this morning. They had 1600 tvs going for 200, 30 dollar treadmills, 8 dollar computer monitors etc. Tons of crazy prices all over the place due to an error on their part. They will likely end up cancelling a lot of the orders unfortunately, but lots of people were able to take advantage due to the in store pick method. I got a 200 dollar video card for 40 dollars and 400 speakers for 30. Now I'm just hoping they ship.

Report says Dolphins leadership told Incognito to toughen up Martin. This case about to get really ugly if so.

QUOTE (dayan024 @ Nov 5, 2013 -> 11:55 PM) David Kaplan @thekapman 2h Great show today on @SportsTalkCHI as @cgrand14 joins the panel. Is he interested in the White Sox? Plus, a whole lot of #Bears talk!! I'm watching. Nothing groundmoving in terms of information. I will say he is perhaps the most wellspoken MLBer I have seen. Gives a great interview. Can see why so many people like him. -

I think he ends up at Duke, but hey, hopefully it's KU and decides right now. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 5, 2013 -> 06:33 PM) I know nothing about Lyle. I only follow Chicago kids. And an offer is enough to connect anyone to a school. Plus his multiple visits. Or is an offer not "concrete" enough? It was in reference to Kansas being massive favorites for him according to just about everyone. Well, they are no long huge favorites, and apparently not the favorite at all anymore so it is moot. Also, On Scout Premium, they said KU not feeling good about Cliff. Really had to push him to come to get one last word in. Hopefully good news for Illinois. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 5, 2013 -> 06:02 PM) But I was told KU had no connection to Cliff!! Charles Mathews is a stud. He and Brunson are my favorite juniors in Illinois. I never said that Brian. I said I don't believe there's anything concrete and that most speculation is "because it's KU". I stand by that. Try again. Let's here more about your "inside" info. Is Lyle going to join him this weekend?! -

Well if true I was half right. The Kansas stuff always seemed lime smoke to me from the national guys. Though I thought it was Memphis as the competition and not Depaul -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 3, 2013 -> 02:03 PM) His recruiting dipped because his job status was shaky. It is really hard for a football coach to overcome a couple of seasons of being on a hot seat. Your recruiting really suffers, and unlike basketball, freshman usually don't make as much of an impact, and it takes more than one or two to really get you off that hot seat. Everything snowballs. No one is going to coach that roster into the Rose Bowl. And he isn't responsible for that roster. But the question should be, can Beckman recruit and coach a roster that makes it to the Rose Bowl. Without really following him that much, I get all my Beckman complaints from my father and brother, I think just his job status problems alone are going to forever hinder his recruiting in Champaign. If I were a realtor down there, I would think about dropping my card in his mailbox. Guys take over football programs and struggle for a few years before turning it around pretty often, but rarely are people calling for their heads in year one or two. Whether it is fair or not Beckman's ship has sailed at Illinois. Yep. The writing is on the wall no matter your feelings on Beckman. Once you have a lameduck coach, it's best to move on as soon as possible. Illinois fans should understand this best. -
Hopefully Rose can hit a game winner so we can again forget how awful he is.

This Bulls team in certain stretches this year have been amazingly bad, particularly on O.

QUOTE (gatnom @ Nov 3, 2013 -> 12:53 AM) You're kind of exaggerating the recruiting (at least with respect to last year). Ultimately, I think Beckman can run a mediocre program. Despite the fact that he is significantly better at running a program than Zook, I don't think he can exceed that because I don't think he's good enough at identifying coaches to overcome his scheme deficiencies. The recruiting is going to get even worse because he is a lame duck coach. It is time to act now. And he certainly is not better at running a program than Zook, or he hasn't come remotely close to showing it. Not that Zook was some mastermind, but he was soooooo much better than Beckman has ever been. I lost the numbers, but the scoring margin for Zook vs Beckman (even in Zook's first and last years) is a blowout in favor of Zook. We aren't even remotely competitive under Timmy. Zook also got us to a Rose Bowl while Beckman has lost 12 straight Big 10 games. You cannot possibly say Beckman is "significantly better at running a program than Zook". There's 0 evidence of that. QUOTE (gatnom @ Nov 3, 2013 -> 12:53 AM) Is there a coach out there better than Beckman? Probably. But, would he be willing to take this job? I know I wouldn't risk my career on Illinois, at least not right now while it's so far buried. This is not the question you should be asking. Really, it should be, "could we possibly do any worse than Tim Beckman?" And since we can't win a single Big Ten game, and can't even be remotely competitive in most of those games, the answer is definitely no, you cannot. At the extreme worst case scenario, we hire the second coming of Tim Beckman, which is the same as keeping him. He's the worst we can do.
