QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 02:59 AM) Yeah, the Celtics have the 2003-2004 season wrapped up. I mean, why would the Heat want to load up their roster with rookies like that! The Celtics are the reigning Eastern conference champions, if you did not notice. But read my post again anyways. Never even said the Cs were the favorites. Just I think it's stupid to simply concede anything to anyone at this point. I think most will agree.

PG- Rajon Rondo SG- Ray Allen SF- Paul Pierce PF- Kevin Garnett C- Jermaine O'Neal/Shaq With a starting line-up like that I'm not even ready to concede the east to the Heat.

10 runs in 37 innings against the Orioles. Good job.

Complete disaster on that note. Going into the biggest series of the year, we expected to win at least 3 out of 4 against a god awful Orioles team. We responded by losing 3 of 4. Inexcusable. Terrible job by our offense and then our defense and Ozzie today as well. We picked a hell of a time to play like this. It better not carry over.

That's what we get for giving up outs. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 12:53 AM) It works better in that type of offense, but overall, it works well for the average offense, too. Yep, and that whole argument goes for naught anyways as we had two great hitters coming up, Rios slump or not. -

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 12:48 AM) Because he moved the runner to 3rd base like he is supposed to with 0 outs. We play for one run, we won't get any. Rios is expected to be our best hitter or 2nd best hitter. There's no way he should be intensionally sacrificing (if he did indeed do just that) and give up an out against a guy we should pile it on against, especially when the inning was led off with a double. -

Why were Hawk and Stone praisin Rios' "sacrifice" there? It's terrible to give up an out there. -
a great post overlooked in the game thread...

FWIW, our own general manager thought we were done and was ready to trade off all pieces earlier in the season. I don't think you can take not expecting a historic run out on our fan base. -
Surely Nick Swisher would be smarter than to allow pictures of such a thing. But seriously, I thought that was Chicago's worst kept secret?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 08:08 PM) That whole "really bad with the bats" didn't play into it? Or that whole Coke thing too.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 03:04 AM) I have looked it up. Yes, average attendance is slightly down...because of big drops in NYM and Houston and cleveland. There are, by my count, 14 teams with attendance up this year, and 16 teams with attendance down. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 02:59 AM) What is our time frame here? Out of all 30 teams, average attendance is down by 300 people per game, and we haven't even hit the chases yet. Big whoop. 13 clubs attendance have actually gone higher. But apparently it's something to do with revenues now from drops in ticket prices.
-
QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 02:01 AM) $10.00 ticket nights will inflat the numbers, about 15-20 team do it. Revenues aren't there. This is gold.

QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 01:55 AM) Only team drawing decent crowds are New York and Philadelphia or when Strasburg is on the mound. Attendance is down across the board. Look it up. What is our time frame here? Out of all 30 teams, average attendance is down by 300 people per game, and we haven't even hit the chases yet. Big whoop. 13 clubs attendance have actually gone higher.

QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 01:49 AM) Yet I had it before any media member. I had Berkman before any media member. My source is top notch. LOL, we've literally been after both of those guys for years.

QUOTE (pktmotion @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 01:41 AM) I don't understand why we gave the start to Torres today. We've seen him a couple of times last year and pretty much know what kind of pitcher he is. Why not give a start to Marquez or even Harrell again, someone new, so we can gauge their makeup against big league hitting. Whatever at least we won the 1st game and like someone above me said didn't have to use any key bullpen guys tonight. Excited to see Jackson tomorrow. Harrell couldn't start because he was sent down less than ten days ago.

QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 01:23 AM) Can somebody tell Pena the object is to keep the opposition at bay to give your team some kind of chance? I don't think I've seen a reliever who puts more games out of reach than Tony Pena. But fans rave about him and his near 5 ERA which is atrocious for reliever. Who the hell raves about Tony Pena? The only thing he's good at is eating innings.
