  1. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 06:09 AM) Was that an honest guess? LOL, nope. But I am interested in hearing why they are doing a d3 game.
  2. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 02:16 AM) Anyone wanna guess where Gameday is this week? Wild guess here, but I'm going to go with Williamstown, MA. Gut feeling.
  3. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 03:11 AM) Not us. You think so? UofI shouldn't have any trouble with ASU. Then they have Duke. Duke may be a better team then than Illinois this year, but the Illini match up very well with them. The Blue Devils will be based around a bevy of wings and they'll rely HEAVILY on the 3. Which is good news for the Illini, as those shots will likely struggle to fall against their D(especially if those stiff Maui rims aren't a myth). I think there's a good chance at a UofI/Marquette final, though that will depend upon how quickly Duke's frontcourt can mature. As for LSU/OSU, there shouldn't be any worries. Neither will be any goo though LSU does still have Tasmin Mitchell.
  4. QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 02:09 AM) Ha. I saw Derrick Rose play multiple times live in high school. He is a good shooter. He doesn't have to score and can be a great floor general but if he wants to turn it on, he will. When exhibition is done and the real games start, he'll turn it on. This isn't an exhibition by the way.
  5. It's day 1 of the season, Richmond wins, and now Memphis is losing to one of the worst team in the country, 26-21.
  6. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 03:58 AM) What does that mean? Maybe Sampson is sleazy, but it's hard to deny he can coach college basketball. Maybe "great" was the wrong word -- I wouldn't want him coaching a team I liked but he clearly is good at winning games. And maybe I'm overrating IU's talent, but Gordon, Crawford, White, and Ellis are all talented enough to play in the League IMO. Gordon has a legit shot at winning a national title this year at IU. Given that he would not have had that at Illinois, I don't think it's a stretch to say he made a good choice for his career. It meant it was a pathetic attempt at stealth trolling.
  7. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 03:25 AM) I agree -- I think they'll easily win the Big Ten and they're my pick to win the NCAA tournament as well. They have at least 4 legit NBA players on the roster and an excellent coach. Eric Gordon chose well. Oh god.
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 4, 2007 -> 06:39 AM) I know you're the same way as me B>W but I'm so excited for monday. I can't explain to you how much I missed college basketball. Yeah, me too. The number one thing I would change about sports is for the CBB opener to get TV coverage(Not including ESPNU), even if it is just Memphis vs. Tenn-Martin.
  9. I liked how the the tradition Weis started(Sitting in front of the Navy band while they play) played this year.
  10. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Nov 3, 2007 -> 03:04 PM) How weird is it to watch Gameday in the dark in Eugene?? Missed Gameday, but what do you mean?
  11. Holtz gave Navy his pep talk this week. He'll do anything to get a win for Notre Dame.
  12. From the Toledo Mud Hens http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3090231
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 05:38 PM) Any truth to Pruitt being out due to disciplinary issues? Pretty sure it was just a coach's decision. Brock I heard had the flu, but who knows.
  14. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 05:19 PM) illinois won it's exhibition opener last night over quincy 82-61. it was 48-16 at halftime, and shaun pruitt, chester frazier, and calvin brock did not play. leading scorer and rebounder was freshman mike davis with 13 and nine. he was followed by freshman bill cole with 11 and eight. there will be some difficult redshirt decisions with these guys and tisdale upcoming. I would say Cole. They got what, 16 players on the roster? Someone needs to redshirt. With Davis, there's a chance he won't be there all 4 years with his athleticism so I don't think it's him. 2010-11 is going to be their next very good year, and they could use an upperclassman PF. Carwell probably deserves the redshirt, but then you lose a 2010 precious schollie so I think he's out.
  15. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 05:53 AM) nope, not the same thing.......... stretch it how you want, but Sampson's actions were not NCAA rules violations. All other coaches are allowed to do what he did. He violated personal sanctions placed on him. There is a difference. If you don't get it ask the lawyers who did the investigation and the school why they had to do two separate reports to turn over to the NCAA. It's because they aren't the same. Try and keep up, will ya? That's great and all, but he still broke the rules given to him by the NCAA. Who the hell cares what you call it.
  16. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 05:29 AM) Kelvin Sampson did not commit any NCAA infractions. Rob Senderoff, who resigned today, did. Sampson is tied to between 10-18 "3-way calls" (the # depends on how you count them) that are not NCAA violations, but were impermissable under the sanctions he was under from his deal at Oklahoma. Which would be the rules that the NCAA laid out for him, hense he committed NCAA infractions.
  17. Little Luther Head looks like he is going to be an Illini.
  18. I'm liking Memphis this year. Derrick Rose is perfect for them, and he'll be winning FotY. I'm going out to Vegas to catch the UNC/Louisville showdown. Cannot wait.
