  1. Hey Master Yoda, not to question your wisdom, but isn't that Burnett's ERA and record?
  2. Anybody remember the old Will Ferrel sketch from SNL? He played Harry and I think Jeff Goldbloom was on with him. He had the show "Space: The Infinite Frontier" It went something like:
  3. distribution of wealth such as paying baseball players 10 million dollars a year?
  4. The only judge ruling in your favor is Judge Ito [Polly Shore Voice] Say hello to Judge Ito!
  5. ::cue The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly music::
  6. I forgot what we are even arguing about anymore; I just know I was trying to disagree with Juggs. I think it mostly had to do with his point #7 being false, due to it being discredited by the fact that the 70/5 offer was never even made, straight from Magg's mouth.
  7. I would have voted for "Frank Thomas only having one run-in with the media"
  8. That's true. I remember hearing some commentator talking about how isolated he felt in Colorado because he couldn't really communicate with anybody there.
  9. Thanks chief. And I don't think Koch has lost his confidence. I think if you put him on the mound, he feels he's going to get guys out. His problem is his stuff has deteriorated and his location is pretty bad right now. If he can at least improve his location, he'll be a little better off (maybe a solid middle-relief guy, who knows).
  10. at least we know what we have in Politte. Do we really want a guy that the Royals cut?
  11. I won't steal Yoda's thunder, but here's the report of Pavano: Sounds like we should try to out-Marlin the Marlins on this guy!
  12. "Consecutive games reaching base safely" might be the phrase you're looking for?
  13. He's right, though. Navarro was the ace of our staff at the time. That's how bad it was. Look how far the staff has come since 1999...
  14. Well, I think we all agree that the "most useful" suprise has been Zero, so that is how I voted.
  15. It was good to see him justify keeping Konerko out of the line-up.
  16. that's been a factor in it, but how often have we pitched the 5th starter? I think it's only been 7 times this year. That means we could have a longer streak than 4.
  17. True. He was always made out to be a starter, but never got the chance. Not yet, he's sort of like a young Kip Wells. Yup. I remember he was frustrating to watch, but at least he had done something before. Garland had never really done anything at that point. We'll see about that. We can only hope they have a spot for him as a starter.
  18. The one trade that really killed us is the Ritchie trade. We all knew it was horrible and we gave up so many good young guys for someone who was terrible. At least the David Wells trade on paper was an improvement. The Ritchie trade was just bad.
  19. I actually agree with this point. I was arguing over whether that offer had been made or not. It was suspicious when the rumor came out that he had rejected the 50/5&20/5 because it had sounded like that was exactly the deal he had wanted.
  20. That article might be more reliable. Zito has always been mentioned around the trade deadline and seems the most likely of the big 3 to get traded.
  21. Yoda- that's true, but he's always been highly touted, even more so that Willis and Beckett. You gotta think that maybe there's something to it and that maybe "the light will come on" sometime soon.
