J-Hood and Buffone would work well together from 2-6, I think.

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:08 PM) If Garland wins 18-20 games, he deserves the opportunity to start in the playoffs. Nobody deserves anything if it potentially costs us a play-off game. I'd rather have Hernandez start a game than Garland.

If we make an extended post-season run, we're going to need El Duque for at least one start there.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 09:17 AM) He also is not sold on Uribe, he talked about it for a few minutes. Is anybody on this board sold on Uribe?
-
Think about it this way, if you take out the Series the Sox and Twins have played (Sox are up 4-1), then the Twins are only 1 game behind us.
-
I predict the Twins lose and we sit at 4.5 after today.
-
I'm guessing he wanted to stay in the game. Glad to see that he tried to communicate that through the proper channels.

I think he lost track of the count.

The Phils really needed bullpen help, but they'll miss Polanco, I think. I don't know what Detroit needs with Polanco. It doesn't give them any prospects for the future, which is what you should be looking for when you're in 4th place after Memorial Day. Oh, and having David Bell play everyday is a very, very bad thing. As rotoworld said, this is a pretty dumb trade for both teams.
-
If you told me this team would go to the playoffs if it went 0-3 vs. the Cubs in the next series, I'd take that deal.
-
By the way, does J-Hood from the Score read this site? I brought this throw-away thing up just now.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) Timo was the first to pinch hit in this series. This over Frank and Everett. If that doesnt prove the fluffer/nude pics/lover theory nothing will. Baines "Ozzie we need a pinch hitter. Should I get Frank or Carl up. " Ozzie "Timo, I think Timo has a bit of magic in him tonight. Plus those pants look absolutely fabulous on him." Baines" You want Timo to hit instead of Frank Thomas or Carl, I thought we wanted to get them AB's in this series" Ozzie" DONT YOU TELL ME WHO TO PUT IN THE LINEUP, I AM THE GODDAMN MANAGER, I MAKE THE f***ING LINEUP, Now Timo sweety, get your stick thing and go run a round a bit." That should look more like this: Baines "... " Ozzie "Timo, I think Timo has a bit of magic in him tonight. Plus those pants look absolutely fabulous on him." Baines" ..." Ozzie" DONT YOU TELL ME WHO TO PUT IN THE LINEUP, I AM THE GODDAMN MANAGER, I MAKE THE f***ING LINEUP, Now Timo sweety, get your stick thing and go run a round a bit."

Any chance Iguchi goes to the DL? Who takes the #2 spot while Iguichi is out, Willie or Uribe?

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 08:18 AM) Who? Ozzie or Neal? Both. It's also important to realize that different guys are going to carry you through-out the long baseball season. Cotts is hot now, maybe he and Politte will carry us via the set-up role for June and part of July, but fall off a bit. By that time, maybe Shingo and Marte will have "righted" themselves...

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) Eric "Get your razor and" Chavez your face?

But can we transform this thread into a 250 post Eric Chavez debate?

I award you no points...

Not necessarily with the line-ups, but an example of good short-term/poor long-term bullpen management can be seen with the 2004 Yankees. The team went 101-61 and won their division by 3 games. They "won the wildcard" by finishing 10 games better than the As. Through the stretch run, Joe Torres had a limited bullpen in that only Quantril, Gordon, and Rivera, which he relied heavily on. While managing to win 101 games, by the end of the regular season, Quantril was basically dead and couldn't pitch effectively, giving the Yankees basically a 2-man pen (if you recall, they had to put Loiaza out there in extra innings). In their historic 3-0 to 4-3 loss of the ALCS, the Yankees lost in the late innings (Rivera gave up the game-tying runs in games 4 and 5), followed by strong outings by Schilling and Lowe. We can either attribute games 4 and 5 as two of the most amazing clutch performances by the Red Sox over one of the most dominant post-season closers in MLB history, or we can attribute this to a tired bullpen. I think we can learn a lesson from over-using a bullpen during the regular season from the 2004 Yankees.

David Schuster on the Score said they might take Broadway from TCU. Anybody know anything about him?
-
Could it have to do with the S-word?

If the option isn't picked up, Skiles will probably end up in Detroit. Skiles and Larry Brown have the same agent.
