  1. Let's not forget, Bat-Girl is a severe hotty.
  2. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) I personally like this idea the best. As long as its a first step to winning the World Series.
  3. We are not in the play-offs yet. However, missing them at this point would require one of the all-time choke jobs.
  4. If we're talking pure soundtracks, I think that Wet, Hot American Summer has one of the best collections of original and non-original songs for a movie that I can think of.
  5. So the thesis is that if the Sox want to be successful in a given year, they need to make a trade with the Brewers prior to the season.
  6. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 01:03 AM) Not all of the choices have been songs written specifically for the particular movies, and yes, I do realize that. I just really like how the music and the images were put together in 2001. Fair enough. I wasn't sure if this was supposed to be themes that were made specifically for the movies or not.
  7. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 08:34 AM) While she might be a knowledgeable fan (I don't doubt that in the least), she could have come up with something a bit more creative than "b**** sox," couldn't she? Because "Twinkies" and "Flubs" is a lot better... we're pretty dumb about stuff we do here, too.
  8. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 01:32 AM) ND SUCKS! /I had to We'll be back
  9. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 07:43 AM) Stoney also predicts the Sun may rise in the East tomorrow I value Stoney's opinion. He's really smart in terms of baseball. If thinks the Sox are going to make a trade, then they're probably going to trade. Did he mention who/what the Sox will trade for?
  10. We'd have to have an amazing second half. If we play at a 49-22 pace for the season, the team would end up winning 111-112 games. That's steal really amazing.
  11. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 07:06 AM) I don't know as much as you when it comes to the inside info but, I have an understanding that kenny can't just move Frank that easy. No matter what media outlet or casual sox fan would tend to believe. Even if upper-management wanted to move Frank, it isn't an easy task since there really isn't a suitor out there for Frank. The team definitely has to be AL and the best match would be the Angels (payroll, need a DH).
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 07:13 AM) How about Andy Pettite? Does he have a no trade? I know he's coming off surgery, but it was the same surgery Billy Wagner had, and he regained his old form quickly. Pettite is 4-7 but his numbers look good other than that. He is playoff tested and supposed to be a terrific human being, and is signed through next season. I know one thing, if the Sox don't get another starter another team will, and that could make a difference around playoff time. Its time for JR and his partners and KW to totally go for it. Considering his recent injury history, I'm not sure how Pettite is an upgrade over Duque.
  13. Isn't Dusty Baker just the cooler version of Jerry Manual?
  14. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 11:12 PM) Also, "Young Guns Pt. II" with the Jon Bon Jovi theme. Harley Davidson and the Marlborough Man also features the Bon Jovi song, "Dead or Alive," which I believe was written specifcally for that movie. To whoever said 2001, you realize that was a classical concerto first, right?
  15. The one where Frank hits a walk-off HR to win the World Series. A guy can dream, can't he?
  16. I said it in the other thread. Trammel got it because of the hometown bid and because Francona coached him for a while. Macha got it because Macha made Francona his Bench Coach when Francona was on down on his luck. Nice to see a guy remember the guys that put him where he is today.
  17. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) What the hell are you talking about, are you aware the relationship Frank and JR have? Thomas has done a great job to this offense since coming back. Who are you going to replace him with? Both options will be declined and they will create a new contract. Frank is a White Sox for life. By the way 600 posts! Agreed. I bet Frank plays for the CHW for around $6.5 million next year. That's pretty fair value. He gets $3.5 million if his contract is bought out. I don't think there's a team out there that can use a DH-only type player for $3 million.
  18. We have a wealth of talent on this team right now. Schmidt would add to that, of course. If the Giants are giving him away... why not? I think he was hurt to start the year, but seems to be recovering as of late. Reinsdorf supposedly is willing to add payroll. Is the 2006 option a player or team option?
  19. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) Way back when we were trying to have some visitors post here, I shared a few emails with bat-girl. Privately she is very nice, knowledgeable about baseball, and funny. If she was a Sox fan, we would love to have her post here. I agree. Just because somebody roots for another team, it doesn't mean they're an idiot. I'm pretty lucky in that regard. I go to ND and the people here are from all over the US. I probably know at least one fan from every pro-level sports team out there (except maybe the Clippers). It really forced me to build up a bigger knowledge of pro sports as a whole. If you look at the whole league, you can really appreciate the game on a new level. I think I've gotten a lot better at appraising the make-up of a team before a season starts and guessing how well they'll finish up. One of the things I'm the proudest of was prior to the 2004 MLB season. A bunch of guys were Phillies fans and there were a few Cubs fans in there, too. Basically they were calling a Phillies/Cubs NLCS before the season started. I practically got laughed out of the room when I suggested that St. Louis and Houston might have something to say about it. Guess who had the last laugh over that one?
  20. I can't blame his choices: Trammel is a gimme since the game is at Detroit. Additionally, Francona coached Trammel at some point. Macha gave him a chance as a Bench Coach spot after he did pretty poorly managing the Phillies. Basically, Macha gets it out of gratitude. It's nice to see a guy that remembers the people who helped him out on the way up. Not having Ozzie in there isn't a big deal, since he'll probably get AL Manager of the Year (and will get MLB MOTY if the media favorite Frank Robinson falters) if the Sox keep it up.
  21. I'll second Suicide is Painless. The classics: Chariots of Fire Ghostbusters Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves Top Gun And I'll throw in the theme from GI Joe the Movie, just to be different.
  22. "White Sox Meltdown Imminent"
