  1. Because other teams want a closer also, and someone like Colome has earned the right to close somewhere.
  2. Bruce meant 30 total, so 15 left
  3. Because Kenny thought they needed more fire
  4. Saw someone post that on twitter
  5. Is this in regards to what Bruce reported today? I saw where he said the budget is 30 million. Only issue is that is including Lynn and Eaton, so they would only have 15 million to spend if correct.
  6. Too many health issues
  7. Of course, you know I agree with that. Heck, I’m advocating trading Grandal and 15 million dollars to Phillies (or Mets) for a good prospect and signing McCann.
  8. They can’t afford Brantley or Pederson compared to Eaton, as that extra 5-7 million is hopefully being allotted towards closer.
  9. Twins will make some moves also in the next few months. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re the ones that target Darvish, and Musgrove makes sense to them as well. Also some talk about them going after a SS.
  10. To be honest, no. Was surprised when that rumor came out. But then I let the “Tony created a closer” argument change my mind. Now after thinking about it more, I could see them not wanting 13 million tied up on a closer two years from now.
  11. Why, no one has signed for less than people thought they would yet? There’s just no rush for these teams right now. Some article today quoted an NL GM as saying they had basically no discussions during the Winter Meetings.
  12. A lot of teams still don’t have their operating budgets. Contracts absolutely could rise over the next few months if attendance estimations rise the next few months.
  13. In a related story, chewing tobacco is now legal in Little League
  14. If the Mets are looking at various options and teams like the Phillies are in flux, Hendriks has no reason to rush his decision. There’s a reason no free agents of substance have picked a team yet. We got spoiled by two moves in 12 hours. I feel like the insider accounts for everyone a little too optimistic it would happen soon.
  15. I don’t want him if this means Julie Dicaro becomes a Sox fan
  16. Sounds like a Supreme Court issue with Chief Justice Jose Abreu
  17. They will definitely still make a move for a starting pitcher and reliever.
  18. The only possible hope for Hendriks is if the source was referring to Bauer or Springer in terms of big splash money and not closer money.
  19. Listen for yourself, starts around 17 minute mark in Hour 3: https://www.radio.com/670thescore/podcasts/bernstein-show-65/bernstein-matt-miller-interview-white-soxs-moves-nba-trivia-hour-3-352052981
  20. Btw, I think Rosenthal is an option for closer that’s not discussed enough. He never pitched for Tony in StL, but I’m sure they have a lot of similar acquaintances.
  21. Also since I know you mention this a lot, he said the Cubs are totally screwed. Their entire business model is focused on gate revenue and the surrounding businesses.
  22. Agreed, and I would be surprised if they’re not at least pursuing Hendriks, as so many different reporters have said they want him.
  23. He mentioned teams aren’t sure what percentage of fans still won’t want to come to games due to the risk of the virus even after the vaccine. He then mentioned Sox front office doesn’t trust the fan base to stick with them if they struggle.
  24. They’ll wait until more is known about future attendance estimations based on vaccines, he made it seem.
  25. Bernstein today had a long segment where he brought up a conversation he had with a Sox source. He said all the moves they made/make will only be for one year, and not to expect any multi-year big moves. Seemed to imply they are considering waiting until the deadline for a closer. Also said he was told the team would never sign someone to a mega-deal, as they don’t believe it’s worth it (Heyward was the example). They do have money still to spend, but they’re too nervous about the pandemic to tie it up for more than 2021.
