  1. one of the Yankees "insiders" said they have heard the same as this in regards to a press conference in New York
  2. But this is in response to rock's news, not a Heyman or Morosi report.
  3. Don't know about this, but I strongly believe it was always a 2 team race between the Cubs and Dodgers with the Cubs the heavy favorite. All the talk about them being broke was completely fabricated to try and give them leverage in trades. I also believe the Sox have thought they were a factor for Bryce but have been used to raise bids.
  4. I can't imagine a bigger FU to the fans than this
  5. But if Jose Martinez comes here and plays well, is this proof the Sox can develop offensive prospects?
  6. just showing that he's playable out there, and doesn't look as much like a DH playing left field anymore
  7. he also wouldn't be a good fit in the NL West due to all the lefties in that division, IMO
  8. Heck of a hitter, if you can get him for cheap, he'd be a good fit at DH for the next few years. Of course you would have to get rid of Abreu or Yonder. Like we said in another thread, I'd be a lot happier if they got him to go with one of the big 2.
  9. because the Cubs would be paying off a good deal of Heyward's contract. Personally I feel like Giants should just start the rebuild process.
  10. no, but Schwarber's defense improved significantly last year. Playing LF in San Fran isn't nearly as difficult as CF/RF there.
  11. I saw them linked to Pillar a few weeks ago, but I think the numerous openings in the outfield is why a deal between these teams could make some sense. Cubs have excess outfielders, Giants have excess contracts (especially relievers, which the Cubs need).
  12. Schwarber had a 4.3 defensive fWAR last year. The great Adam Engel was 1.1
  13. getting rid of Bailey was a huge win for them
  14. That's why I think it will be a great deal, as Cubs are going to have to get desperate and add a ton to get a team to take on Heyward.
  15. yep, I was going to raise that question. Would make even more sense if they landed Machado.
  16. The funny thing is that the team that trades for Heyward, Schwarber and prospects is likely going to get a great deal. Think of the players the Reds got in return for Homer Bailey.
  17. Bulls at least draw fans But yes, if Sox miss on both, Reinsdorf should be ashamed at what's happened to his two franchises. His loyalty to underperforming executives is inexcusable.
  18. agreed completely, Machado is a much better fit. Problem is the chances don't seem very good they get him.
  19. He's always had a weakness for going after the biggest name free agent.
  20. another person claiming Yankees, but no clue as to his reputation
  21. Also don't think it's a coincidence that the Sox are linked to Encarnacion and Martinez today. If it's all true, how pathetic is it that Hahn ended up helping the Indians possibly keep Kluber and Bauer by taking on Yonder's salary? It's the type of stuff that should get him fired, but we saw in 2016 that he can make horrible decisions and still have job security.
  22. Again, don't think it's as much about luxury tax as it is getting rid of Heyward. I also think Smith or Watson would be in the deal, as it's very odd they haven't added a lefty reliever yet.
  23. wouldn't be all 106 million...Cubs would likely pay half or so and take on Melancon.
  24. yep, usually by now you would have had a "Machado still undecided, no decision has been made" tweet by a national guy.
