Gotcha, I thought you were referencing his huge power increase. IIRC, Roberts had an amazing base stealing technique in terms of getting a running lead.

I said this numerous times watching him at Oregon St, but he's not super fast. He's way more effective due to his instincts. He was something like 39/47 stealing bases in his Beavers career. I'm sure he'll get more effective as he learns the personnel he's facing.

Brian Roberts got busted for using PEDS. He's a bad comparison.

Way closer to 5-8 than the 15-20 some have projected on here. I've seen highlights of him making real good contact for W-S and not being able to get it over outfielder's head.

The turnaround with his command over last month plus has been nothing short of incredible.

I totally agree he's probably completely gassed. I've said a few times I expect the Sox to try and clean up his swing a bit this offseason.

In today's fangraphs chat, Longenhagen talked about how Madrigal's swing is a bit different now than it was to start the college year. Not enough top hand, too much chopping.

One thing to keep in mind is that he's had something like 6 or 7 runs added on to his total this year because of horribly blown strike 3 calls not being made. The start in Texas is the perfect representation of that. If I didn't know any of the stats, I would say he's looked like a 3 to 3.25 ERA pitcher this year.
