  1. QUOTE (Tony @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 07:15 PM) Abreu has always looked bad in the cold (which could be a problem in the future, ha) But I agree, it’s hard to quantify but you can see it Giolito, Abreu and Castillo look like they're in slow motion
  2. Some of these guys look incredibly uncomfortable playing in the cold
  3. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 07:02 PM) Which pitch? Fastball and even that has bad command
  4. QUOTE (mac9001 @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 07:01 PM) I don't think Giolito has thrown a single breaking ball for a strike this year. As poor as his fastball command has been today it's surprising he isn't getting totally lit up. Hasn't exactly faced good offenses
  5. Pitching is horrendous so far this season. At this point, Giolito is a one pitch pitcher. The curve is an urban legend
  6. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 06:57 PM) Giolito struggling to find the plate Mechanics terrible. Falling way off to the left
  7. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 06:48 PM) Exactly, and again, what good is speed if the guy is never on base to use it? At that point it's f***ing useless. Not sure how with his current swing he can ever get on top of a pitch. Meanwhile, Giolito has some of the same stuff/command from last game.
  8. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 06:45 PM) No, southsider will tell you that he's not terrible Such a headcase at the plate. Already changed his swing from spring training
  9. Why is Engel dipping so much on his swing. Looks absolutely awful
  10. QUOTE (Tony @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 06:29 PM) Book seems to be out on him not taking the bat off the shoulder. He’s gotta keep pitchers honest He also has to stop guessing with 2 strikes. Can't be taking fastballs over the plate with two strikes and chasing offspeed pitches off the plate
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 06:31 PM) Tricky thing with this can be when he's throwing the cutter that can look a lot like a slow fastball to the naked eye. Nah it's 91-92 on fastball so far. Really think this weather is rougher on him than most.
  12. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 06:24 PM) He is the lead off hitter, it is very typical for a lead off guy to take the first pitch or two. He does need to swing at it every once and awhile to keep them honest though Yep given his struggles against offspeed pitches, that first pitch fastball might be best pitch he sees.
  13. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 06:21 PM) Moncada called out on strikes on a pitch very high in the zone. Has to stop taking first pitch fastball strike as much as he has. 7 straight at bats this series he took first pitch strike.
  14. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 02:48 PM) Why do I feel like the team in the top 5 that thinks Swaggerty is the best bat in the draft is us? Really wouldn't be mad about either him or Bohm at this point. Agree with both comments. Hopefully Swaggerty ends the season hot as that batting average in a less than amazing conference is hard to get excited about
  15. Nice start for Rutherford
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 01:44 AM) Basically. I will say when I saw trey in person at W-S last year he’s one of the guys in the field that stands out physically. Although so did Keon Barnum. A friend told me that at the time, Andy Gonzalez stood out compared to his minor league peers. Things have definitely changed
  17. Dunning liked facing Brewers org without his nemesis in the lineup
  18. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 01:31 AM) 6. games. I'm not even gonna waste my time going through the first 6 game stats of some good players to prove a point. It's ridiculously early in the season to be wanting to send top prospects down Even I think that's an overreaction. I'm fine with him leading off all year. Just want to see improvements to his ability to make contact this year. He hits the ball too hard and has good enough speed to waste striking out 225 times this year
  19. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 12:27 AM) Is moving him down in the order not playing? I think a case could be made to move him down from a mental standpoint. I get the development aspect and if you'll see my posts I have not thrown the kid under the bus, I love his potential. But IS HE putting too much pressure on himself to be a perfect leadoff hitter? Maybe letting by great pitches he can handle in an attempt to "work the count", instead of smashing the first good pitch you see? Haven't noticed him doing anything different than last year
  20. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 12:25 AM) Yeah, it's especially funny to me that right when it started to unravel, 3-4 known trolls came out of the woodwork Fun time for me getting home just as bottom of 9th ended
  21. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 12:25 AM) Yoan has basically zero track record of being a bad hitter. I'm not going to worry about him too much. not like he has much of a track record either way
  22. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 01:19 AM) 0-6 with 4 K’s. That’s really terrible. At this rate I just hope he hits .250 His hit tool has been incredibly underwhelming
