  1. Overall a very bad start for Giolito. Results finally revealed just how poorly he was throwing. Hopefully he starts to get more comfortable because as of now, he looks like he did to start last year.
  2. That was terrible first pitch to swing at
  3. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 08:51 PM) Not to mention both his starts the weather has been cold as s***. Not worried about Gio's velocity yet. Yep I bet Lopez velocity is way down tomorrow also
  4. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 08:49 PM) You don't have to throw 95 to be successful in the majors. Better have good command and/or secondary pitches
  5. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 08:42 PM) Do we even want to be playing baseball? Been an insane amount of bad defensive plays that don't show up in box score because they weren't/can't be ruled an error
  6. That's the easiest dp of the season
  7. Fastball at 90 this inning. More awful defense of course
  8. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 07:36 PM) Yep. And I get that wins are unimportant this season and that we want to see the kids development, but Engel has had enough time. Cordell deserves a full season to see what he’s made of. The longer we wait with a guy who clearly isn’t a MLBer, the less viewing time we have with the guy who might be. Leury actually deserves a full season as he showed more potential last year than Engel could dream of
  9. QUOTE (Scoots @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 07:34 PM) He just looks so over-matched. Almost like he is afraid to swing sometimes. No leg kick and dipping on his swing. Exactly opposite of a few weeks ago.
  10. What an ugly swing. He's just not a major leaguer
  11. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 08:23 PM) Giolito has to do a better job of keeping runners on in check. He's very slow to the plate
  12. QUOTE (Tony @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 08:19 PM) I can honestly say the loss on Thursday didn’t bother me at all. Of course I’d love for them to win, we all would. But when Soria blows that game, I guy that may not even be here in August, let alone 2019 and 2020, I really don’t care at all. I’m watching to see Moncada, Anderson, Gio, Lopez, etc. You want to see how these guys perform in certain situations, trends, growth, etc. Well said, honestly only upsetting part was how bad Yoan looked. Besides that, loved what I saw from Timmy and Yolmer
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 07:17 PM) Castillo in particular has looked half-there most of the season thus far for me. Yet looked good in the dome
  14. QUOTE (Tony @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 07:15 PM) Abreu has always looked bad in the cold (which could be a problem in the future, ha) But I agree, it’s hard to quantify but you can see it Giolito, Abreu and Castillo look like they're in slow motion
  15. Some of these guys look incredibly uncomfortable playing in the cold
  16. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 07:02 PM) Which pitch? Fastball and even that has bad command
  17. QUOTE (mac9001 @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 07:01 PM) I don't think Giolito has thrown a single breaking ball for a strike this year. As poor as his fastball command has been today it's surprising he isn't getting totally lit up. Hasn't exactly faced good offenses
  18. Pitching is horrendous so far this season. At this point, Giolito is a one pitch pitcher. The curve is an urban legend
  19. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 06:57 PM) Giolito struggling to find the plate Mechanics terrible. Falling way off to the left
  20. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 06:48 PM) Exactly, and again, what good is speed if the guy is never on base to use it? At that point it's f***ing useless. Not sure how with his current swing he can ever get on top of a pitch. Meanwhile, Giolito has some of the same stuff/command from last game.
  21. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 06:45 PM) No, southsider will tell you that he's not terrible Such a headcase at the plate. Already changed his swing from spring training
  22. Why is Engel dipping so much on his swing. Looks absolutely awful
