The Avi Thread
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 07:23 PM) Bichette is a top 35-50 prospect in baseball. No chance Avi has that type of value. Especially with what we have seen Ozuna go for

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 08:21 PM) Yeah, I definitely think the O's are pushing this in the media. Don't forget that Rosenthal covered Orioles for a long time

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 04:44 PM) Right that's always been the assumption but this kind of confirms it. I do think that once players do get here though they have a good experience for the most part. The Sale and LaRoche stuff obviously made an impact. Yeah the players like it here but the fear is lack of exposure and marketing opportunities

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 04:38 PM) Daryl Van SchouwenVerified account @CST_soxvan 23s24 seconds ago More Hahn: "We are not looking to make any sort of move that’s aimed at simply jumping up and perhaps contending for a Wild Card or maybe even the division for one year. The focus remains on the long term. "Now, we may take some calculated risks along the way." Calculated risk -barf

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 04:38 PM) The fact that Hahn is trying hard to get an impending FA kind of makes me think they don't think he would sign here without playing here. Makes me a little concerned the org isn't perceived well by players. It's not

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 04:31 PM) Minus the idea that you could overpay him and have exclusive negotiations for 7+ months. Why would he sign during that time? Besides yanks, Phillies have an insane amount of money they could offer.

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 03:29 PM) Rodon and Anderson for Machado sounds good to me. That would be selling as low as possible on those guys

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 03:29 PM) Yeah which I'm fine with but then you have to compete with other teams. And I'm sure plenty would be interested. Same as if he is here for a season with a non-contending club. There are also some rumors that he could be on the Yankees radar next offseason.

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 03:26 PM) They have to already know JR would sign off on a huge extension for this to be possible. I'm talking like 10 year/$300-$330 mill with a few opt-outs. But at this point, I would think he would wait until free agency. Then you don't deal for him and wait for free agency

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 03:24 PM) If you do the deal and don't re-sign Manny, you've really hindered the rebuild. And depending on who you would lose in the trade, you might have just killed the rebuild. Not worth the risk especially when he seems intent upon reaching free agency where the Sox can woo him and gush about the culture, etc. And say that you trade Giolito and Dunning and Rodon continues to be injury-plagued. You're suddenly lacking starting pitching depth.

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 04:15 PM) Why? If it were 3 top prospects, I can see it. But if they are dangling one top pitching prospect and maybe Avi and/or Tim Anderson, we should be ecstatic. Though he had a down year, Machado is 25 years old and a top 10 player in the game. He's an everyday player. You feel great as long as you don't give up, Kopech + Giolito +. The one thing the White Sox have been able to do right over the past 15 years is draft and develop pitching. Everyday players is where they have struggled in recent history. As long as you're not giving up Moncada, Robert, and those likes, it's a pretty easy deal to make. I just don't get what the positives for getting Manny for a season is. You run the risk of really hurting the talent level on the team in two seasons if you don't extend him while giving up a few starting pitchers

Rule 5 draft preview
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 03:45 PM) Tocci to Texas for the infamous cash considerations? That is what Hahn meant when saying "We plan to be active in the rule five draft"?!!? I'm convinced Hahn has been kidnapped and someone else has taken over last 24 hours

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 03:36 PM) I agree 100%. You spend all this time acquiring assets, now to trade them for a probable rental, since apparently you are selling culture over money, is exactly the opposite of what you have been doing. Most of the guys they traded have more control than Machado, and I love Machado. I really think, especially if he moves back to SS, he can be the best player in baseball. But you have to pay him if you want him. Keep your prospects and pay him when it's time. You can give him a nice presentation, and then offer him the most money and he will sign with you. If you aren't prepared to do that, he's gone anyway, and that is some more rebuilding time. As I said yesterday around this time, if you want to put together a title contender, you trade some of the prospects for Yelich and then break the bank for Machado

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:23 PM) Orioles are still talking to teams about machado but sources say there’s no expectation/belief MM/agent would grant negotiating window for acquiring team at present. So would be 1 year player. Heyman Can't think of a dumber idea for the Sox

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 03:19 PM) What's the 72 hour window do?? We get 72 hours to negociate a contract.. What happens if nothing is reached in that time frame? Can the trade be thrown out? Someone enlighten lil' ol' me Yes the trade can be called off then

Wouldn't be surprised if they trade Tocci

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 03:13 PM) It is interesting to note that the White Sox, except for Freddy Garcia, really haven't brought in a potential free agent, to "see the culture", but even that trade was about immediate winning. Machado will love the White Sox culture as long as they offer him the most money next winter. Wonder how much he'll love the culture if they win 70 games

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:10 PM) You'd pretty much be buying a 7-month negotiation window. Then you could flip to recover some value in July. And more than likely get far less than what you gave up

Haven't read a single rumor since this broke again last night that makes me feel comfortable about this

White Sox have shown interest in Machado
QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:22 AM) What are the odds a White Sox has is connected with Hahn? Not buying much of what he sells He's broken as many, if not more, Sox stories last two years as anyone. It's obvious he found out the Sox put in an offer for Manny, which others have reported.

Orioles even said today they're going to go home from meetings tomorrow and revisit the proposals down the road. Absolutely nothing close
