QUOTE (shoeless_joe21 @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 02:26 AM) With Burdi out, I wish they'd just let Fulmer try his hand at closing. I'm normally all for giving a pitcher every opportunity to stick as a starter, but it just seems like they're delaying the inevitable. Kind of bummed I feel this way, but I struggle to see him ever becoming a reliable starter. Here's my concern about Fulmer as a reliever in the majors. When he got called up last year, his stuff didn't improve out of the pen. If they want to make him a reliever, make him prove he can be a quality reliever in the minors.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 01:15 AM) I'm hopeful for Collins becoming a better hitter, but the Sox front office better be looking long and hard at the people instructing these guys in the minors. They cannot afford having bad hitting results anymore. Not a good sign that his strikeouts are getting worse as the pitching should be getting slightly worse due to promotions to AA

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 01:06 AM) Fulmer sucks. Indeed, the peripherals are awful. Drafting has to continue to get better in the organization.

Anyone else listen to Larry talk about Collins on the south side Sox podcast? Yikes, hopefully he starts making more contact.

QUOTE (harkness @ Jul 24, 2017 -> 09:04 PM) I apologize for everything I ever criticized about you Robin... I've never quite seen this boneheaded of a manager. How about next time there's a managerial opening, they actually interview someone

I hate the bunt with a passion, but if your manager is going to be an idiot about it, why wasn't Yoan practicing that in the minors? I'm sure the great Buddy Bell must have forgot to get things aligned.

Nice Abreu, if only Yoan got the bunt down, the situation would be the same

Again why are you playing for one run with the worst bullpen imaginable? As balta perfectly said, if Yoan is bunting in the future, then he was a bust

Reverse Standings Thread
Sure I would love the Sox to win 3 games but that seems incredibly unlikely given the Sox pitching and the Cubs playing good out of the break. As for Cubs not making the playoffs, it seems very likely they end up winning that division by 5-10 games

QUOTE (buckweaver @ Jul 23, 2017 -> 03:49 AM) Jesus! In May, 81-year-old Jerry Reinsdorf spent $52 million to sign 19-year-old Louis Robert. Can we stop typing crap like, "JR being cheap as hell again"? There's no reason to be overspending on anyone who won't be at their peak performance level 2-3-4-5 years from now. Give the owner a break already. Wow I was so not being serious
