QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 03:35 PM) Wish someone could indicate to Chris Sale that nobody died Just trade him before he blows his elbow out. Haven't won crap with him here anyways.

Another thing to come out of this story is that by all accounts, the clubhouse chemistry sucked last year. Then you have someone like Tom Shear say players were frustrated by it last season as well. To me, I honestly think this has less to do with the kid and more to do with the belief that LaRoche isn't as focused on baseball as he needs to be.
-
And as a teammate, if LaRoche is told that it might be distracting to some of his peers, wouldn't he want to try and figure out a compromise if he was really interested in trying to win this season?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 03:13 PM) You of all posters would have a totally opposite opinion if this made a player who has been productive walk away. Sale was sticking up for his teammate. In the clubhouse, which supposedly "belongs" to the players. With all complaining you have done about LaRoche, why do you have to be derogatory towards him for quitting? You should be thrilled. Purely as a baseball move, I'm thrilled. As a potential chemistry issue for this season, I'm concerned. If he retired Tuesday and nothing else was ever said about this, that would have been fantastic. Also, I don't think a productive player would have walked away. He hated playing last year and maybe this situation made the choice easy for him.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 03:50 PM) So every out he has recorded has been a K? And all 17 balls he let in play fell for hits? Yep, it's false

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 04:07 PM) That's quite an assumption. How do you know it wasn't a White Sox player or coach or manager or executive? Say what you want, but Adam LaRoche himself has been pretty quiet. I'm sure his family and close friends probably wanted to know why he retired and he told them. I don't see where that would be a crime. Nothing in this whole thing is a crime or anyone doing anything wrong to the other person. That's why this whole thing is so freaking stupid. LaRoche was stubborn for quitting and Sale needs to worry more about not letting the Twins make him look like Jim Parque.

QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 03:05 PM) The Sox don't have a new management structure. They knew 100% leaks would happen and the story would get out. You have to know that. They should have been prepared for that happening. The quotes from Eaton made things a lot worse, and when more leaks started to surface, as of today no one in that locker room has stepped up and said they aren't true. So to me, there is some blame there. Yeah, the whole thing sucks. It's annoying hearing everyone on the Score talk about how this would never happen in the Cubs clubhouse....but I'm sure they're right. One thing I don't think I've said is that I have a ton of respect for KW for not losing his cool if Sale was verbally attacking him. That could have made things wayyyyyyyyyyy uglier.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) You raise a good point...but what does Kenny do when the team disagrees with management's decision on the matter? You can't muzzle anyone. All you can do is get rid of them. Do you start looking to move some of the vocal players who don't adhere to the organization's messaging? I hope Eaton is renting, not buying.

QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) If we are going by what we know, everything was seemingly handled right until the players got in front of media, specifically Eaton. I'm still of the belief players went to management and asked for Williams or someone to step in and have that talk with LaRoche, which I agree was the right course of action. However, if Williams agreed to fall on the sword for the team, after LaRoche announced his surprise retirement, Williams needed to have a meeting with the club and make it clear when media asks about this, you give the standard "This is a tight clubhouse, we don't need to go into what was said or personal feelings, this is a team matter and we dealt with it. We're going to miss Adam, but we have a season ahead of us and that is what we are focused on." Everyone needed to come together and be on the same page. That clearly didn't happen, and to me that's where the biggest PR mistake was made. Isn't this exactly what happened until someone from the LaRoche side leaked the story to the Pitt writer and Rosenthal?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 02:44 PM) It seems a lot of players are pretty pissed off he won't be around. Why is it necessary to piss off Chris Sale and Adam Eaton in order to accommodate Jimmy Rollins? Pedro Gomez said there were coaches who didn't like the kid being around so much as well.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 04:09 AM) I read on the Scout site the entire B1G went 2010-2014 with 6 total arrests. Illinois has 4 in 1 year. Oh and Werner seemed to stop just short of saying Tilmon isn't coming here. What changed, thought he was a lock?
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 02:45 AM) So this one said new players stepped up and let KW have it. Eaton loves the Drake, Sure, when you bring in a ton of them, I'm sure there were a few who were with him. Lawrie I believe is one

Honestly, no one needed to be wrong in this situation http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/laroche...te-sox-ventura/

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 01:24 AM) Excellent interview with Scot Gregor on the Score on the insides of the clubhouse. I suggest you seek that out on podcast. Cliffnotes?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 11:33 PM) KW is the bad guy because he din't care that his GM and manager gave their OK for this arraingment when signing the player, and made their word worthless. Who's to say in all of this the agreement wasn't "he's welcome as much as he wants in the clubhouse unless it's a distraction to teammate(s)". No one in that pathetic clubhouse says a word last year, and the new guys come in and say something.
-
I just can't see how LaRoche would want this becoming a lawsuit. Does he really want to have his ex-teammates giving statements about if they do/don't like his son in the clubhouse?
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 12:27 AM) Maddon said he wants no part of a kids in the clubhouse policy. He said it is up to the players to police it themselves. Same with Ventura. Too bad for KW that he's the bad guy cause LaRoche wouldn't adhere to the wishes of a few teammates/coaches.
-
QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 11:11 PM) That's not Jessie Rogers trolling, that's all Cubs. Yep....but I thought they don't concern themselves with the White Sox?

Groce shouldn't see another day at coach of U of I.

No shock, but Nightengale seems to be supporting KW during this: Bob Nightengale @BNightengale 31m31 minutes ago Several GMs have met w their managers today to review policy on kids in #MLB clubhouses. Most clubs prohibit kids from being on field.
-
QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 10:17 PM) I have no background in law, but I thought that was very telling as well. They don't teach law in the clubhouse?
-
Seriously, did any of these idiots read what KW actually said to LaRoche? The Cubs players/Manager might be dumber than their fans. Patrick Mooney @CSNMooney 58m58 minutes ago Joe Maddon: “We’re all for kids on the infield. They do have their own lockers. We get them whatever toys they would like Gordon Wittenmyer @GDubCub 2h2 hours ago Arrieta on LaRoche/Sox: “It kind of makes me mad to see this kind of thing happen. I want my teammates’ kids in the clubhouse.”
-
I hate to admit that it's Jemele Hill that made a great point, but for everyone asking if KW would have done this if LaRoche played well last year....would LaRoche have quit if he was coming off of a good season?

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 09:23 PM) If the MLBPA wins the grievance case (if it gets filed at all), do the Sox as an organization get punished in any way? Yep, Sale is automatically a FA
