  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 06:56 PM) Tomorrow pre and post should be fun. yeesh. Surprised Hahn declined to comment today
  2. QUOTE (Baron @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 06:53 PM) Bernstein is saying now that Kenny approached Adam first to try and hint that some players would like it if he wasnt around as much. Trying to slowly move him towards cutting it down. Then when he didnt do that Kenny put his foot down. Fits everything we've heard. #TeamLast
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 06:53 PM) If Jimmy Rollins went to KW and moaned, and then said this http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0315-story.html he is not a leader. A leader would cop to what he did and explain it to everyone. Why in the world would he say that when the story hadn't broken yet? Everything he said was justified in this situation, even if he was the one who said something.
  4. QUOTE (Baron @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 07:41 PM) Yeah they just repeated that report on 670 the score. Some well respected guys went to Kenny. They didnt name Rollins but it's obvious he was one. It basically is the same as bringing in outside consultants to your company and asking them for their recommendations. Hopefully Sale and company come to respect the opinion that Rollins and others had.
  5. One thing I don't like hearing is Hahn and Ventura disagreed with Kenny's approach. Before anything was said, JR should have made sure it was a united front.
  6. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 06:28 PM) So does this make LaRoche the worst ever FA signing by the Sox? Yes, HORRIBLE last season and potentially a worse impact this season.
  7. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 06:25 PM) Spiegel said this is a case of veteran players seeing the way it's been done in winning clubhouses and putting a stop to it. Then Bernstein said " Does Jimmy Rollins really think it's worth it though"? and Spiegel kind of just like laughed because Bernstein gave up the name. Wow, good for Rollins. Hahn has his work cut out for him right now.
  8. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 06:13 PM) Bernstein and Spiegel basically just confirmed that a group of players led by Jimmy Rollins went to management. I understand Sale wanting to police their own room but they've done a poor job of doing that to this point and their manager doesn't do it. This is a case of new veteran players coming in and deciding that this had to stop. They specifically said Rollins?
  9. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 07:01 PM) If the Sox are still mired in mediocrity next July, I hope that Sale is the first one out the door in the fire sale. I won't miss him. If they tank this year, he'll be in a Red Sox jersey come December
  10. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 06:58 PM) Here's the thing about this KW may have done the right thing, certainly it seems that way on paper. LaRoche may have done what he needed to do. The net result though is that the team is pissed off and the fans are screwed, and it seems to be a pattern with this organization. We lose a potential vital LH bat that we really need in the lineup, and the $13 million in savings does us as fans no good, necessarily. This has all the feeling of Baines getting his number retired and then getting traded. It has the feel of Frank Thomas leaving the organization, of Fisk with the sour taste in his mouth. And this team honestly wonders why they have a PR problem and problems getting asses in seats. As a pure baseball move, this is incredible for the Sox
  11. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 1m1 minute ago Sale told Williams, unequivocally, to get out of the clubhouse and stay out, per a source. Williams acknowledges meeting was passionate. 2/2
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 05:51 PM) At this point he can't come back IMO. Why not, the players are supporting him and would love for him to return.
  13. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 05:52 PM) LOL a grievance for what? On what grounds? The best player on the team is pissed because KW made a reasonable request to one of the worst players on the team? This whole thing is incredibly stupid. Clearly LaRoche will argue they had a verbal agreement
  14. yep, not going away Andy McCullough ‏@McCulloughTimes Tony Clark said the MLBPA has not yet ruled out the possibility of filing a grievance on Adam LaRoche's behalf with the White Sox.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 06:44 PM) The fundamentals deck is going to have a 4 inning time limit. It will be there for 3 years, max
  16. In all seriousness, how long before Latos gets blamed for going to KW
  17. Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 7m7 minutes ago The main thrust of Chris Sale's anger with Kenny Williams was that he's not around enough to understand the dynamics of White Sox clubhouse.
  18. KW really is falling on the sword Jeff PassanVerified account ‏@JeffPassan 5m5 minutes ago After GM Rick Hahn and manager Robin Ventura OK'd Drake LaRoche's presence, for Williams to unilaterally say otherwise set the players off.
  19. Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 6m6 minutes ago F-bombs aplenty flew during the White Sox's meeting with Kenny Williams. Players so pissed they considered boycott, as @karlravechespn said. Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 8m8 minutes ago Heard same as @thekapman: In a contentious meeting, Chris Sale absolutely lit up White Sox prez Kenny Williams over Adam LaRoche situation.
  20. Duke is the laziest defensive team I've ever seen. They look like they're playing 4 on 5 defensively.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 06:25 PM) I take it you have never yelled at anyone. We weren't privy to the conversation, but it had to do with his career, so the yelling might have been something most of us, except maybe you, have done. Sale yelling at KW about the closer thing is the best thing Sale has said in his life. Things like the Tigers cheating was pretty foolish though.
  22. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 06:24 PM) I'm also legitimately concerned moving forward that this will hurt the Sox's FA pull. Can't imagine many players want to be a part of something like this. The thing that's so crazy about this is that Reinsdorf has been TOO loyal to his players/ex-players the last decade or so.
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 06:23 PM) I'm actually hoping the opposite will occur, along the lines of your Major League analogy. Yeah, the fact Ventura convinced them to play for him is impressive. Good news is the Sox have a lot of guys on 1-year contracts that would be killing future contract options if they let this impact them and tank this season.
  24. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 06:20 PM) That isn't the point, and yet people continue to argue it as if it is. The point is that the Sox told him he could have his kid around all the time and then they changed their mind, after he relied upon their decision to come to his own decision to sign here. I agree, and it's why they should have come to an agreement. As David Haugh said, if LaRoche just turned around and retired without second thought, then he was probably looking for an excuse to quit.
  25. pretty good stuff https://twitter.com/TheHerd/status/710506405162127360
