  1. Was a reason ever given for why Rodon and Lawrie aren't going to be there?
  2. They really just need to let Avi DH and worry only about hitting. What all the excuses about him only having one full year leaves out is he got hurt one of the other seasons cause he plays the outfield like as if he has never played the position.
  3. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 10:09 PM) How many OF/DH does Tampa need? Loney, Morrison, Jennings, Kiermaier, Souza Jr, and now Dickerson. Plus it sounds like Brad Miller will see some time in the OF (depending on what else they do at short). Jennings possible trade chip. Lots of teams linked to him already.
  4. Can't link it but Merkin also tweeted that Ventura knows Hahn is trying to tweak roster
  5. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 10:56 PM) Same here. They'll only be improved some after only trading for a couple players. Not spending is ridiculous. Spending less than 10 million in free agency is inexcusable
  6. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 09:48 PM) Wow, makes you wonder if we could have offered something like Petricka and Guerrero and gotten Dickerson already. The FO better having something up their sleeves because all of this sitting on their hands while the OF market passes them by isn't go to get this team to the playoffs. You would have thought if nothing else Detroit getting Upton would have lit a fire under them...makes you wonder if Hahn is handcuffed with the payroll as it is? Just very frustrating. I think McGee is beloved by MLB teams more than fans think. I know Levine said last week the Cubs thought of him as their potential closer of the future.
  7. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 10:47 PM) If Avi is the starting RF again next season and he struggles, the front office should be cleaned the f*** out. That is not the horse I'd want to hitch my wagon to if I was Hahn. Couldn't agree more. Hahn has been a total disaster so far. Results on the field have sucked and the system is a mess.
  8. Avi will be around but doesn't mean it's not as DH
  9. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 09:28 PM) The Sox couldn't beat that offer? Seriously? What the hell is Hahn doing? No, Fathom, I'm not melting down. I'm just genuinely baffled as to why Hahn has done absolutely NOTHING to fix the OF problem the Sox have. Sox simply have no resources to trade that aren't important members of the team this year or next.
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 10:06 PM) So I don't get it. You trade a quality young outfielder for a good reliever. Makes no sense to me. Is a highly thought of prospect also part of this trade with the Rockies? If not, I'm extremely dissapointed the Sox weren't interested in Dickerson. He is young, cost controlled, and when healthy has been a much much better ballplayer than Avi Garcia. Who do the Sox have to trade that's as valuable as McGee? No one that is easily replaceable.
  11. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 10:02 PM) Rosenthal thought this trade made no sense for the Rockies a few days a go. They have no use for McGee... They didn't have a closer. Do now
  12. Wonder if Rockies flip McGee now. He's been rumored to a ton of teams this offseason, including Dodgers/Cubs/Nationals.
  13. QUOTE (Sockin @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 09:43 PM) McGee going to the Rockies with others. He'll make a nice trade deadline acquisition for someone.
  14. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 09:42 PM) As things continue to happen around the league it gets more and more likely Garcia is the Whitesox starting RF for next year. This move makes it way more likely the Sox get Fowler, IMO. No doubt in my mind he ends up with either the Cubs, Sox or Angels.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 08:40 PM) I'm sure a lot of teams would like 2 picks in the top 50 and Dexter Fowler. Agreed, and I know I've said this elsewhere, but I'm not that concerned about stacking up with draft picks right now. If the Sox decide to blow it up in a year or so, Sale/Q can restock the system immediately. Rather see what this core of players can do with another above average player on the roster.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 09:39 PM) Francona was on MLBN a week or so ago. He was pretty adamant they weren't trading any of their rotation. Smart by Indians..don't get why they don't bring back Raburn
  17. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 08:37 PM) If it involves Dickerson then you can pretty much call off the potential Soler to Rays trade that fathom posted about, meaning Fowler to the Cubs would look far less likely. EDIT: There it is. Yep, only other possibility could be Soler possibly to Indians, but that doesn't seem nearly as likely
  18. joseph carano ‏@josephcarano 6m6 minutes ago @whitesox @AvisailGarcia I would say "learn to hit ". Ryan Matthew ‏@rypie182 8m8 minutes ago @whitesox @AvisailGarcia you ask him why the sox didn't get a stud free agent OF mbeav ‏@chetlemonrules 46s46 seconds ago @whitesox @AvisailGarcia Tell him to get in the cage Matt Carlson ‏@mcarlson_54 3m3 minutes ago @whitesox @AvisailGarcia why are you still here? Cameron Chodacki ‏@ImDaBaron 6m6 minutes ago @whitesox Trolling season ticket holders now?
  19. QUOTE (Baron @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 09:09 PM) https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/692800623406772224 Are they trolling season ticket holders now? Nope, just clueless
  20. Please ask Hahn how his 6 week trip to a deserted island was In all seriousness, I hope things aren't too negative this weekend.
  21. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) Have the Sox ever announced the addition of a new player at Soxfest? IIRC, Kenny Lofton
  22. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 02:49 PM) #halfwaythere #almostnotquite #maybe2017 #wetried #hahnpokerpro #posturing
  23. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 05:05 AM) Back to Fowler. I kind of like the Sox chances and wonder if the cubs rumors are an effort to drive the price up on the Sox. By the time the cubs come to an agreement with Arrieta and fill out their roster with league minimum players, their payroll should end up around 165M+. How much more can they or are they willing to spend? Signing Fowler would put them around 180M which doesn't leave much room for adding future payroll without going over the luxury tax threshold. They would almost definitely be trading Hammel to free up money
  24. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 04:58 AM) I'd be extremely happy if this ended up being the move. Not only are you upgraded the defense slightly, but the offense gets a big boost: Eaton RF Fowler CF Abreu 1B Frazier 3B Cabrera LF LaRoche DH Lawrie 2B Avila/Navarro C Saladino SS I think that's a playoff caliber roster with our pitching Brings some solutions to the bench questions. Avi can platoon with LaRoche. Schuck won't be needed as much for defense, so he will be your designated PR
  25. If you are a team like the Dodgers, Rangers or Cubs, it makes sense to say you will look at mid-season trades due to system depth. Signing players for money instead of giving up your few resources is so much smarter for the Sox.
