Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 04:33 PM) That tweet reeks of Orioles justifying overspend on Davis I did think of that also

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 04:31 PM) Then good luck to him. Now that Davis is signed, there should be clarity in the market for Cespedes. It's on him and his agency to get the best offers now, and pick one. And if the Sox don't match up, so be it. They have other options that will still be better than Garcia. Mostly, I think fans want Cespedes just because it feels like a win and it's not about what he actually brings as a player. He's good, but he's not that good...and don't discount that he could be a player that's part of the problem if things go bad in April and May. Then everyone will hate the guy and regret having him for 3-4 more years. Incredible post

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 04:31 PM) Mets are offering three years and $60 million to Cespedes. The White Sox would have to offer at least $70-75 to get him to leave NY. Again you are just making up numbers

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 04:26 PM) Gulp.... https://mobile.twitter.com/masnRoch/status/...387617805709312 If this is true, it would make sense why it seems like Hahn has shifted his focus

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 05:18 PM) I am going to be genuinely upset if Cespedes is not on the Sox come Opening Day. I felt like the Orioles were their biggest competition for him, and now they're out. And Upton is still around too. I feel more confident than ever about the Sox landing one of the big two because I honestly don't see anyone else paying them more than the Sox would. Fowler is significantly more likely than Upton. I really don't get why so many people ignore what rabbit and others have discussed.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 05:12 PM) Garcia was the starter last year, so why does Thompson matter? And Trayce got us what's projected to be the largest positional improvement in baseball. I have no idea what your angle is here. Anything to trash the Sox

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) Lol, yes they will and I think we all know what the FO responses will be. Avi is a 30/30 candidate. In fact he's 4 homers and about 15 steals away from those numbers in a Sox jersey!!

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 05:01 PM) Simple, Fowler signing means Samardzija's pick everyone obsessed over last year is sayonara for just a marginal improvement. Marginal improvement over Avi? It would actually be the biggest improvement in baseball from one former starter to the new one, only topping Frazier.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 03:54 PM) Fans will going to Sox fest to yell at the front office Well if they don't sign anyone and they win less than 81 games next year, Hahn and Ventura can attend as fans as well

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 03:46 PM) All the feel good stories about the farm system/renewed focus on development would be thrown out the window... The farm system sucks now, everyone knows that. With that said, no idea how that was your response to what I posted

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
There's going to be quite the meltdown on here if he signs with the Tigers before Sox get Fowler, etc

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 03:22 PM) So what's the deal with Baltimore's offer to Cespedes, is that offer still on the table? Googled it but cannot find anything that's says the offer has been taken off the table. Very doubtful it would seem

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) No kiddind. Now is the time sticking to their guns and hard negotiations. There is obviously no teams out there offering big deals. Yep seems like now or never. Really comes down to Sox, Mets and Tigers

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (blackmooncreeping @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 05:58 PM) If they provide out clauses for Cespedes along the way it might not be that risky overall. But it does sound like a reach for the Sox. Rumor is Orioles don't believe in opt-outs

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 06:53 PM) Brittany Ghiroli: "Source: Cespedes deal could include an option year beyond guaranteed five years. Hitter-friendly Camden Yards is appealing for him." "Orioles seem serious, esp if they add that option. Nothing is imminent, but Cespedes is at least considering the offer." If they are willing to offer him 6 years, they can have him. That won't be fun for them.
