  1. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 05:12 PM) Garcia was the starter last year, so why does Thompson matter? And Trayce got us what's projected to be the largest positional improvement in baseball. I have no idea what your angle is here. Anything to trash the Sox
  2. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) Lol, yes they will and I think we all know what the FO responses will be. Avi is a 30/30 candidate. In fact he's 4 homers and about 15 steals away from those numbers in a Sox jersey!!
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 05:01 PM) Simple, Fowler signing means Samardzija's pick everyone obsessed over last year is sayonara for just a marginal improvement. Marginal improvement over Avi? It would actually be the biggest improvement in baseball from one former starter to the new one, only topping Frazier.
  4. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 03:54 PM) Fans will going to Sox fest to yell at the front office Well if they don't sign anyone and they win less than 81 games next year, Hahn and Ventura can attend as fans as well
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 03:46 PM) All the feel good stories about the farm system/renewed focus on development would be thrown out the window... The farm system sucks now, everyone knows that. With that said, no idea how that was your response to what I posted
  6. There's going to be quite the meltdown on here if he signs with the Tigers before Sox get Fowler, etc
  7. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 03:22 PM) So what's the deal with Baltimore's offer to Cespedes, is that offer still on the table? Googled it but cannot find anything that's says the offer has been taken off the table. Very doubtful it would seem
  8. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) No kiddind. Now is the time sticking to their guns and hard negotiations. There is obviously no teams out there offering big deals. Yep seems like now or never. Really comes down to Sox, Mets and Tigers
  9. How long before the first "sources say Sox still only willing to go three years" report this morning
  10. This team is a tough watch
  11. Bet we don't see Noah in a Bulls jersey again. Thanks for some nice memories
  12. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 08:15 PM) White Sox should offer 4 years and $88 million. Might be best chance while backloading the deal
  13. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 06:59 PM) Hey, you were right. Something did happen today! Not yet
  14. No way he takes three year deal and becomes a FA with everyone else
  15. Rabbit had a big rumor yesterday, it's just not what people wanted to hear
  16. Wow Sox clearly didn't want him back
  17. QUOTE (blackmooncreeping @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 05:58 PM) If they provide out clauses for Cespedes along the way it might not be that risky overall. But it does sound like a reach for the Sox. Rumor is Orioles don't believe in opt-outs
  18. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 06:53 PM) Brittany Ghiroli: "Source: Cespedes deal could include an option year beyond guaranteed five years. Hitter-friendly Camden Yards is appealing for him." "Orioles seem serious, esp if they add that option. Nothing is imminent, but Cespedes is at least considering the offer." If they are willing to offer him 6 years, they can have him. That won't be fun for them.
  19. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 05:43 PM) I think it's safe to say they are out on the top 2. Time to change focus to Fowler/Trade option, IMO. I would love to know if they were ever in on the top 2. I have big time doubts
  20. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 06:36 PM) Jon Heyman: "orioles offer to cespedes is said to be about 90M for 5 years. may include 6th year option. uncertain how he'll respond." I don't see the Sox topping that in years or total money
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 05:04 AM) I see it differently. I see it as Sox having worst shortstop in AL Central now. And 2B and 3B could go either way. Hopefully both will rake to go with MVP at 1B. They would have worst SS either way
  22. QUOTE (Saufley @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 04:55 AM) Fowler is not quite the "big bat" I was hoping that RH was going to sign! Biggest club deal or not!! That's cause all of the three big guys after Heyward weren't ideal fits. Still have no idea what they are doing with RF
  23. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 04:55 AM) I thought the white sox said they only go 3 years on Cespedes. That's the rumor, why
  24. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 03:49 AM) Maybe in 3 years the Sox payroll might get over $150M . What do you think the Sox are going to spend money on when Frazier and Lawrie are gone after 2 years ? There's always going to be an excuse not to pay good players . The farm is back to being woeful now after getting rid of all but the top 2 or 3 guys. Signing Fowler means another draft pick gone. You get nothing for Alexei when they could have, didn't trade Samardzija when they could have. Do the Sox actually value the minors for anything but trade bait while they give lip service to an extended window of contention ? Do you think the Sox would have done that deal where Atlanta got all those guys for Shelby Miller if they had offered Quintana ? I see no clear direction for the team. They aren't building a farm system and they aren't willing to do what needs to be done to compete unless they stay completely healthy and get 5 or 6 career years from guys. Might as well just tell everyone don't bother getting excited or buying season tix . We're shooting for .500 . Nice post, I don't disagree with your premise. Hahn's poor acquisitions the last few years have really hurt this offseason. His poor choices last offseason scares me with his choice of outfielders.
  25. Sure he could flip, but it seems they wanted new blood.
