2015 Wild Card Games
QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 07:28 PM) I'm really glad I don't live in Chicago right now. Bandwagon Cubs fans talking s*** was awful. It would be so great if the Pirates can just win tonight and shut them up. Doubt it happens with Arrieta on the mound though and a Pirates team that struggled hitting of late. I won't get too upset if Cubs win tonight, as it would still put them in the same position they were in for 2007 and 2008 where they had their postseason end in 4 days.

Never seen so many Wood and Soriano jerseys at work. Also, Bryant's playing LF instead of RF because of the deeper dimensions in LF at Pittsburgh.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 08:04 PM) I think Ian Desmond is someone the Sox look at. He can play SS next year, and if Anderson is good enough, move him to 3B. His contract could be a little depressed by his awful start this season. Us Sox fans would hate Desmond. Lots of inexcusable errors and lots of terrible at bats. Unless he comes way cheaper than most would imagine, I'd rather stick with Alexei for one more year.

2015 Wild Card Games
I went to Sports Authority in a suburban mall a few weeks ago, and there was probably 95% Cubs stuff and 5% White Sox stuff. Before this year, it was probably 55/45 in terms of Cubs stuff. Doesn't take a marketing major to know this is not good for developing your fan base.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 07:57 PM) Cespedes will easily be $100m+. I can see him with a Werth-like deal. Yep, I know someone like Gerardo Parra has been rumored to get something like 3/45 as a FA this offseason. With the lack of bats available, the prices are going to be insane for the top guys.

2015 Wild Card Games
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 07:47 PM) Yeah sorry but that's an awful post. The cubs directly impact our fanbase. To his credit, not living in the Chicagoland area right now might make it hard to realize just how crazy the Cubs bandwagon is now (as well as how dead the Sox are). He's a very smart poster though, so I'm sure he knows.

2015 Wild Card Games
QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 07:37 PM) You're really not. 1) Cubs fans are a more nation wide fanbase. There are nearly as many Cub fans in Austin as there are Astros or Rangers fans here. You're never going to make those people White Sox fans. 2) When the White Sox were good, you know a huge portion of the people watching were Cub fans. Also, they don't affect our organization. Period. If the Sox are good, they have enough fans to go. If they're bad, no one bothers. Cubs have nothing to do with it. So you don't think there are casual sports fans in Chicago that jumped on the Cubs bandwagon this year and went to their games/watched them on tv and are now Cubs fans for life? After seeing the insanity of the Blackhawks bandwagon over the last 5 years, the Cubs being consistently good would definitely hurt in developing the next generation of Sox fans.

Hahn Confirms: Ventura back for 2016
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 03:22 PM) I thought the team was one of the lowest bunting teams in baseball? Yeah, what I was saying was greg shouldn't worry about them learning to bunt, but instead hoping they work on their approach and/or acquiring better hitters.

Hahn Confirms: Ventura back for 2016
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 05:46 AM) Yeah but I'm being realistic here. Ventura DOES call for the bunt a lot. He's not going to change in that regard. If it's 2-2 in the sixth and we have a runner on and nobody out, we probably are bunting. So they must learn how to fricking bunt!! Remember watching Lexi try to move a runner or whomever? It's downright horrible and is costing the White Sox ballgames. 22nd in sac bunts this year, and 6 of those were the light hitting Sanchez. They were dead last in 2014 under Ventura. Find something else to dislike about Ventura.

how about not bunting and getting better hitters

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 12:54 AM) If Sox acquire Frazier, they would have control of him for 2 years. After that 1 year, I really think they would extend him. Frazier is only making 6 million next year..... Which would make it worth it to me, as you get him cheap this year and if the team implodes again, you have a trade chip. I don't fault Frazier for his awful second half, as that Reds team was dead. Has to be demoralizing getting destroyed every game with a rookie pitcher on the mound and the dumbest manager alive.
-
My/Your Off Season Plan
I'd have no problem acquiring Frazier if he wasn't going to be a FA soon. I also think the Reds have no use for an established star like Quintana, as they won't even try to compete if they get rid of Frazier and are left with Votto, Bruce and their returning injured guys.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 09:36 PM) After the disaster that Chip Kelly has been. Teams might shy away from the college level for a year or two. He could name his job if he went back to college.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 10:56 PM) Preller also overpaid for Norris because he (like us) thought he had a good club on his hands. Danish for Norris straight up I could see. Norris was a top 5 catcher in terms of WAR at age of 26. I just imagine it will take more than a non top 150 prospect like Danish to get him. Other teams needing a catcher could surely offer more than that.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 10:52 PM) I'm a huge Derek Norris fan. Thanks for bringing him up. Dont think we would need to send Montas for Norris. I think Beck and Johnson could get Norris. I would imagine Preller would want more back for Norris given they gave up a good pitcher for him (Hahn). Who knows, maybe the Padres love Danish. The Padres need help on the infield, as Gyorko was moved to SS due to Amarista being god awful. They have been rumored as a team that might go after Ian Desmond.

QUOTE (Mike F. @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 10:42 PM) How is Alex Gordon than much better than Melky? I know he's a better defender, but that would be reflected in his steep price tag. I'm content with Melky honestly. Gordon is so much better in every aspect than Melky. He'd be a great addition, but I have a feeling KC brings him back.

How about Montas and Micah Johnson for Derek Norris?

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 02:20 PM) Ga Tech was #14 at the time and considered a good team. ND never plays FCS teams and they had to play ACC teams due to their new contract. I really think that calling a schedule made 5 years ago a "joke" is overstating things. Yeah, I wasn't blaming ND at all for how bad their schedule's ended up looking so far. When you schedule a game with Texas, you anticipate they're going to be a powerhouse at the time. Biggest thing ND needs (besides winning) is for Stanford to keep playing well.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 02:12 PM) The Cardinals remind me of the 2000 White Sox. Just ran out in front of the pack and held on because of the lead they amassed, but injuries devastated them down the stretch. Once the playoffs hit, they were spent Great comparison, no doubt in my mind the Cardinals are the worst of the 5 NL teams in the postseason right now due to injuries and players falling off in their performance (ie: Wacha and Peralta)

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 02:54 PM) No offense to the Notre Dame fans on this board, but I'm glad Clemson put an end to the Notre Dame playoff mirage. ND is such a tough team to measure year in and year out. I have no idea what to expect with them this year. Their schedule prior to Clemson is a joke with how bad Texas and GT are. ND was better than Clemson, as Clemson seemed far too conservative from the 2nd quarter on

Hell no to Puig. Health and attitude issues galore. Also not sure about the dynamic with Abreu

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 12:52 PM) Fathom has broken the record for consecutive weeks complaining about a break ND got from the refs. I'm pretty sure he even does it during their bye weeks. Read want I said again, said they got a bad call against them
