  1. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 4, 2014 -> 10:05 PM) Yes you would. Let's just say the Sox were to trade Sale and Danks to the Red Sox... The Red Sox, without any doubt, would give up more for just Chris Sale. Adding Danks to the deal would lower the return prospect-wise. Sale isn't getting traded, but if Boston decides to offer Betts, Boegaerts, Swihart, Owens and Cecchini..Rick isn't going to say, "well Ben, I am going to need to to take John Danks as well. Hell, you can keep Mookie." The White Sox can dictate what they want for Sale, in my opinion. If they're not able to clear payroll to go out and acquire an ace to take Sale's role, then you don't do the deal.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 4, 2014 -> 09:01 PM) No it shouldn't. Why lower the return just to get rid of Danks. It's dumb. Danks goes in a move for another overpaid player, or he is on the Sox. It is that simple. They're aren't going to do another "Teahen move" where they pair Danks with an asset just to get rid of him. Dumb dumb dumb. You're not lowering the return by giving up Danks if you're going for all of the young "studs" they have in their organization.
  3. QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 4, 2014 -> 09:55 PM) Absolutely. But with our payroll flexibility, you trade Sale at his highest possible value, AND sign one of the aces on the market like Scherzer, and you've just stacked your team in two moves. Which is why unloading Danks' contract would be a must in any deal
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 4, 2014 -> 09:45 PM) Nope. It is completely bat s*** crazy. Boston could offer their entire top 5 prospect list, and I would turn it down as not enough. If the Sox trade Sale, they better make the other team take back Danks as well. If the Red Sox want to give the Sox Betts, Bogaerts, Swihart, and a few of their top pitching prospects for Danks and Sale, I think Hahn should do it.
  5. I was lucky enough to do this in 2004, but going to a White Sox game at the Rogers Centre and watching the game from a hotel room was an incredible memory. It's also cool because all the players hang out in the hotel lobby after the game.
  6. Lots of smoke that Lester's going to decide in the next few days. Seems like the Cubs are back to being the likely choice.
  7. Heisey traded to Dodgers. Seems like Van Slyke will be traded.
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 02:11 AM) So fathom when Florida State, Baylor, and Ohio State all lose this weekend, it has to be Georgia Tech in that 4th spot right? Very slim chance. They would be competing with Kansas St, who would be fresh off a Baylor win. GT has some bad losses this year which would make it hard for them to win a beauty contest with the current top 10. All I know is no matter what happens this weekend, GT better stay above Clemson.
  9. Anderson dramatically cut down on his errors in the AFL. I wonder if it had something to do with the quality of the first baseman he was throwing to? I know I mentioned this during the year, but it seems like Barnum might be a butcher at first base.
  10. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 05:52 PM) There is no pick involved, Orange Bowl is obligated to take the highest ranked team. I agree that it's a longshot, but there is at least some chance it happens. In any case, the point was about Louisville fans not wanting to root for FSU because of Winston's character issues. I was so stunned when people said that I couldn't even respond. I know there is no pick, as it's all based on ranking. As of today, Clemson is one spot ahead of Louisville. I can't see the committee putting Lville in front of Clemson after this coming week.
  11. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 05:45 PM) GT = 16, Lou = 22, it's not impossible for GT to fall behind Lou with a loss, especially if it ends up not being close. Those rankings are before the GT win at #9 UGA. I haven't read one projection today that hasn't said GT to Orange Bowl is a virtual lock. If GT loses to FSU, they'll have the same record as Louisville with much better victories (at UGA, Clemson), higher SOS and Louisville has no top 25 wins. It's hard to see any scenario in which Louisville ends up higher ranked than GT. Also, sure seems like Clemson would be picked over Louisville
  12. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 05:18 PM) So Louisville has a chance to go to the Orange Bowl, but only if FSU beats Georgia Tech. I've had at least two friends who are Louisville fans tell me that they don't like having to root for a team with somebody as slimy as Winston. Yes, these are fans of Louisville, whose coach is Bobby Petrino. GT is in the Orange Bowl even if they lose to FSU, as they'll still be the highest ranked ACC team besides FSU
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 12:05 AM) I say this every week now but this FSU team is so f***in annoying. Ga Tech is going to get them next week. It's going to be tough, as GT's only true receiver is likely out with a knee injury.
  14. I'm beginning to think Shark was the person Hahn was referring to about trying to get at the deadline. I know I mentioned it towards end of last season, but Hawk sure made a lot of references to Shark being on the Sox in the future.
  15. It would make a lot of sense for Anderson to be sad if traded, as I'm sure he was excited to play in Birmingham this year.
  16. Hopefully Anderson goes nowhere. I would be fine if Danish is main guy going to Oakland. I could see Beane liking Semien.
  17. Gasol is so great on offense, but he's also just awful on defense.
  18. Hahn still hasn't acquired the player they were close to getting at the trade deadline. With that said, I'm going to predict the Chicago duo of Gregorson and Gorzelanny are next.
  19. Not sure if it's been mentioned in this thread, but LaRoche has generally been a very slow starter
  20. Good stuff in this article about the type of teammate LaRoche is http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/natio...6985_story.html
  21. There was talk of the Sox looking at Leake last offseason. With that said, the starting pitching looks very thin if you give up Quintana.
  22. Gesell is just not a very good player. Iowa has a very good frontcourt, but a poor backcourt.
  23. Whenever I saw Ethier hit last year, he looked like someone who lost a lot of bat speed. Unless it's a deal for Danks, I don't want him in any deal where the Sox are giving up something good.
