  1. I was thinking today that the 3 biggest positions where they need upgrades heading into next year are likely LF, C and SP. If they acquire someone this season, hopefully it's a player that has at least another year on their contract that can play one of those positions.
  2. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 02:48 PM) Updated 1 (3): Carlos Rodon, LHP, /$5,721,500 2 (44): Spencer Adams, $1,282,700/$1,282,700 3 (77): Jace Fry, /$726,000 4 (108): Brett Austin, $450,000/$485,400 5 (138): Zach Thompson, $363,400/$363,400 6 (168): Louie Lechich, $40,000/$272,100 7 (198): Jake Peter, $203,800/$203,800 8 (228): John Ziznewski, /$162,100* 9 (258): Brian Clark, /$151,400 10 (288): Jake Jarvis, $141,300?/$141,300 - Assuming that this is full slot since this is a HS player 14 (408): Bryce Montes de Oca, /$100,000 So they basically signed 2-5 at slot value given Fry and Austin combining to equal their 3-4 slots now. I find it hard to imagine a situation where the Sox sign Montes de Oca. As for Rodon, it would seem he will be getting in the 6 million range if he signs.
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 04:45 PM) Seriously, any concern of Rodon not signing is completely unwarranted. There is a 99.999% chance he is signing. They wouldn't be signing some of the guys they have already for slot money if they were concerned about saving enough money for Rodon.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 06:16 PM) The info finally trickles down to Chuck. So sad. In your opinion, does Beckham actually have enough value to other teams to get back a piece that can contribute to the Sox?
  5. It's shocking how often Davidson has homered in his first AB, only to go hitless the rest of the game. Oh well, at least he's showing a ton of power right now.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 10, 2014 -> 07:19 PM) It looks like Sox went out to grab a 9 and a 10 in the first couple rounds, and then balanced it out with some 1's and 2's later, where the Cubs brought in a bunch of 6's. If the Cubs strategy of drafting last week ends up paying off with more MLB production, then good for them...they earned it. It's a risky strategy they took, and I will never bash the Sox for the strategy they took in taking Rodon, Adams and then mostly filler.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 10, 2014 -> 03:23 AM) I wish they would have removed Belisario Wait, you can't bring Putnam back in?
  8. Game of inches, as that Avila fly ball was extremely close to leaving the park.
  9. Watch the bunt...they did it once already this year in a similar spot.
  10. From what I've seen this year, Leury Garcia is better on defense than Sierra and ADA
  11. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 10, 2014 -> 03:17 AM) Eaton is the most inconsistent arm in baseball. It either short hops about 5 feet away or is an absolute cannon. Reminds me of a computer game
  12. Fastball after fastball after fastball
  13. Are you kidding me with this defense!
  14. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 10, 2014 -> 03:14 AM) Why would the Cubs want Beckham? If they did, to package him with Samardzija to Toronto?
  15. Yay for bad defensive players as defensive replacements
  16. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 10, 2014 -> 04:08 AM) What about the Twins duo? Sano and Buxton Scary injury issues with both right now
  17. Chisenhall is turning into a star. 5-5, 3 HR and 9 RBI tonight
  18. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 10, 2014 -> 03:27 AM) Is he a better hitter than Addison Reed? Well, they have quite the battle this year in terms of homers hitter vs homers allowed
  19. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jun 10, 2014 -> 02:19 AM) Tyler's chances of making the Sox next year are starting to disappear.
  20. Flowers 2 for his last 31, and both were homers (16 K)
