9/5 at Indians
QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 6, 2014 -> 01:29 AM) Why was he brought up over Mitchell? I know Jared isn't great but should've been brought up to see what he is, good or bad. I thought I read where Taylor was out of options, while Mitchell has one more year in the Sox system left.

Taylor swings at some terrible pitches.

2015 Offseason
I know I previously mentioned Pedro Alvarez as someone the Sox could target. I would love for them to also go after Justin Wilson as their main lefty in the bullpen. He struggled this year, but he has fantastic stuff and would be a big upgrade to the pen.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 5, 2014 -> 10:31 PM) I really think he's part of the team next year if he can hit consistently. Yep, and just like with Flowers, I'll be ok with it as long as the available money goes to a strong starting pitcher and lefty hitting DH or LF

With Viciedo, it would be interesting to see if they really do want to make him the back-up/emergency 1B for Abreu next year.

I love this lineup tonight. I know we talk about how a lot of the games, it's not bad for the future if the Sox lose. Well, tonight is a game I'd really like to see them win.

Sox Prospects: Stock Up/Down
My prediction for White Sox players in the preseason top 100 rankings next year (taking out anyone called up to the majors this year): - Rodon #8 - Anderson #45 - Danish #92 Top 10 overall: 1- Bryant 2- Buxton 3- Giolito 4- Russell 5- Correa 6- Lindor 7- Urias 8- Rodon 9- Glasnow 10- Gallo

Sox Prospects: Stock Up/Down
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 4, 2014 -> 08:58 PM) I'd say Hawkins is significantly up, not neutral. The biggest reason why I didn't put Hawkins in the Up category is because the home run total was disappointing to me. He did a great job improving his K rate (while walking a decent number of times), but I think he needs to be in the 30 home run range to regain his above average prospect status. He's likely never going to have a strong hit tool, so the power better carry him.

It's about that time of the year again...
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 4, 2014 -> 09:33 PM) I feel the same way and you worded it much better than I did. I think where we disagree on this one is that I don't think the Sox would have any problem giving Stanton $25 mill a year. Thanks to the contracts they've signed with Sale and Quintana (assuming you didn't use Quintana to acquire him), they've gained some leeway in giving out extra money, and he'd clearly be worth it. Beyond that, I think he's the type of player who you can trade too if you need to recoup some value. He's also a very good candidate for an opt out after 4 years, which hurts the club long-term but assures you get more than the initial service time guarantee. Again, all hypothetical, but it's fun to try and quantify the value of certain players on the team. Stanton's going to get more than 25 million per year, it would seem.

Stanton is phenomenal, but there are quite a few other teams that can easily outbid the White Sox. Most people seem to think the Red Sox will put together an impressive package of players in order to try and get him. Just based on Hahn's desire to get some lefty power into the lineup, Pedro Alvarez seems to be someone that I could see the Sox going after.

Sox Prospects: Stock Up/Down
With the Sox minor league games all but over, I was thinking of who improved their stock/hurt their stock this season. Thoughts? Stock Up: 1- Frank Montas 2- Tyler Danish 3- Andy Wilkins 4- Tim Anderson 5- Chris Bassitt 6- Trey Michalczewski 7- Carlos Sanchez 8- Rangel Ravelo 9- Cleuluis Rondon 10- Adam Engel Stock Neutral: - Micah Johnson - Courtney Hawkins - Chris Beck - Scott Snodgress - Keon Barnum - Marcus Semien - Josh Phegley Stock Down: 1- Erik Johnson 2- Matt Davidson 3- Trayce Thompson 3- Andre Rienzo 4- B. Ortiz/A. Mitchell 5- Jacob May

Avi had a really good game. Not only that, two straight games without striking out.

Going to leapfrog the Cubs tonight. Also, closing the gap on the Astros.

QUOTE (1dog @ Sep 4, 2014 -> 02:45 AM) We don't really have more than a handful of good pitchers in the entire organization. Embarrassing. The wave of guys close to the majors that have been in the system 3-4 years now is horrible. Thankfully, the guys that have been acquired in the last year (Rodon, Montas, Danish, Adams) look like the real deal. Hahn's going to have to pay a ton of money to fill the pitching holes until the younger wave is ready.

QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 4, 2014 -> 02:18 AM) Soler figures to be the best of the bunch. Baez looking more like late-career Soriano than peak. Bryant will be better than Soler, but that doesn't mean both won't be well above average players.

Not really sure why Lindstrom's getting innings right now. Still shocked they didn't unload him for a bag of baseballs on 8/31. Danks ERA up to 5.12. It would be great if they can unload him this offseason and pay maybe half his remaining salary.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 4, 2014 -> 01:36 AM) John Danks is f***ing awful and has been since he got injured. It sucks but that is reality. Anyone banking on him ever being a decent starting pitcher again is doing so based on blind hope. Yep, his performance since signing the extension has been horrendous.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 3, 2014 -> 03:33 AM) I tell u one thing: A Viciedo highlight film put together by the Sox staff would be impressive. One of those that shows only his bombs. Same with Flowers. We know they both have made a million outs; I'm just saying they have some impressive highlights. So would Dunn
