  1. Offense struggling yet again.

Sox legacy game for Peavy tonight.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 09:09 PM) I thought they didn't have any awesome prospects/players? Viciedo, Jones, Reed, Quintana, Thompson and Sanchez would have been players that many on here would have been upset about if they were traded and the players received in return didn't lead the Sox to the postseason.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 08:07 PM) Because he's a veteran, over 200 innings, a free agent, and the season is over. That's just what they do. He'll say he wants to pitch, go out and pitch, and then complain in the offseason that he was forced to pitch
  5. I give Kenny a ton of credit for not selling the farm before the deadline. He showed good discipline, especially if he knew he was not going to be the GM for much longer. No matter what happens the next week, at least no one can say "crap, the Sox didn't make the postseason even though they gave up all those awesome prospects/players".
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 08:03 PM) Detroit's health is what is winning them this division. Their 3/4 hitters are going to play ~160 games and have been basically unencumbered offensively by injuries. Their top 3 starters all got healthy for the stretch run as well as their talented leadoff hitter. The rest of that team is very suspect (that's baseball, right?) Yep, their stars stayed healthy for a majority of the year and seem strong down the stretch (besides Scherzer). Konerko's injury/struggles has been the turning point in the divisional race, IMO.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 08:00 PM) Beating a team that is 16 games under 500 doesn't make you a good team. I never said they were a good team only based on beating KC. As I mentioned, they're likely going to end up around 88-74, which is a pretty solid record. It's not like they're going 81-81 and making the postseason.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 08:56 PM) Be sick of it. It is true, they aren't very good. They are struggling to win the worst division in baseball. The only reason they won today was because the s***ty team they were playing made 5 errors. They found a way to beat the Royals, same exact thing the Sox couldn't do this year. Tigers are probably going to end up winning 88 games or so and have a solid chance in the postseason. They're definitely a good team, as were the Sox up until 8 days or so ago.
  9. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 08:44 PM) I think the Sox would need a big play to get pumped up over. Did you see the reaction to Dunn's 3 run homer? Lovie Smith doesn't show enough emotion on the sidelines!!
  10. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 07:29 PM) KC puked that one up big time. Just confirms to me that Detroit is not very good I'm so sick of people saying this. They're good enough to have just swept a team that kicked the Sox ass since the ASB. Tigers were also good enough to dominate the Sox the last few months as well.
  11. How deep was the flyout by Perez?
  12. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 06:41 PM) There are some serious good vibes working for Detroit right now. Would be great to see that d-bag valverde blow this game. Fister's finishing this one up
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 07:28 PM) This could end up being under 2 hours. I'm not playing the "KC sucks/Help us" card, but do teams hate the Sox because of AJ and Hawk, and would love nothing more than to see us lose? I know there are some out there who believe Hawk's rants on the umps early in the year did nothing to help the Sox get favorable calls.
  14. Cy Fister dominating once again.

QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 05:31 AM) I'd keep Chris Sale, let every FA go, and listen on everyone else. I'd bring back AJ. If you start having to chase to find a new catcher, 3b and a righty starter, it's not going to be good.

QUOTE (Cali @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 04:29 AM) Q I'd trade, but I'm hanging on to Viciedo and Reed. As frustrating as Tank has been vs. Righties and not taking pitches I'm still damn impressed by his first full season at 23. The problem is that De Aza might not be long for CF.

QUOTE (Cali @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 04:24 AM) All I mean are heavy work loads on rookies pitchers in general. More for Sale and Quintana certainly, but Jones and Reed (assuming either or both aren't sent packing) might be a little gassed next year. I would trade 2 of 3 out of Q, Viciedo and Reed for MLB ready, cost-controlled talent
  18. fathom replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Put it this way....if Verlander, Scherzer, Fister, Cabrera, Jackson and Prince stay healthy next year, then Tigers will probably win the division. However, those guys all stayed healthy for the most part and had sensational seasons, and they still didn't run away with the division.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 04:13 AM) So what pitcher do we get to see work 4 2/3 lousy innings next game? Big Game Jake

QUOTE (Cali @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 04:10 AM) As negative as I was pre-2012, I see no way the 2013 team will compete. Too many pieces of this team will be gone, health concerns for Danks, Jones, Reed, Sale and Quintana (thought I think Hahn/KW will trade him in the winter) and its an odd numbered year so Rios should go in the tank. I'm not gonna say 100 losses but easily a .500 team. A lot depends on whether or not Konerko can rebound from his weak 2nd half. If he can, then the offense has potential to be decent. I also have faith in Rios due to Manto's ability to get him to have a regular stance. I'm definitely not pessimistic about next year's team, as I think there will be a lot more stability in the starting rotation.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 04:08 AM) That was awesome! The way he flipped the ball and the look on his face, it was like: Here fellas, I'm gonna single handedly give you guys a chance to get your head out of your ass and play some playoff baseball. It was classic. Then the next pitch or two, pop up and Lilly couldn't drop it. It woulda been too obvious. Thanks Lilly! You are now one of my favorites of all time. He should have just dropped the throw on the 1-6-3 DP
  22. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 04:05 AM) 1. Don't move the lineup around based on game to game play Why not? Maybe it shakes things up a bit.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 04:05 AM) lol are you serious? But you renewed them last year? This team was suppose to lose 95 games. I was going to post something similar to what you just said. 2012 has been way better from a PR standpoint than 2011 was. Who knows, maybe they'll make some exciting acquisitions this offseason that generate interest in the team.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 04:59 AM) If the Sox lose the division and no one is there to see it, did it really happen? Just over 20k tonight, and that's with a promotion that people typically enjoy
