Konerko said the only place he'd consider being a part-time player is with the White Sox.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFan05 @ Sep 27, 2013 -> 08:55 PM) Can someone please tell me what happened? I've been in a meeting all day and I'm sneaking this under the table he wants to take a month off to make a decision.

Listening to Konerko talk about the decision, it sure as hell seems like he knows the right decision is to retire.

yep, he wants to take a month off to make a decision. This feels like a very similar situation to Urlacher.

QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Sep 27, 2013 -> 08:41 PM) Why is comcast showing this one then? In case he does decide to retire?

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 27, 2013 -> 08:38 PM) If that is the case no need to call a press conference to do that. He could say that with beat writers before or after game. I was under the impression this is exactly what he's doing. It's the typical dugout interview with the media.

QUOTE (whitesox901 @ Sep 27, 2013 -> 09:31 PM) Mixed signals. Why's it mixed signals? The rumors all week were that Konerko would meet with the media and tell them that he hadn't made up his mind yet.

My favorite stat this year might be that BJ Upton is 0-28 with 18 strikeouts with a runner on 3rd base this year.

There was a report in the Tribune earlier this week that Konerko would meet with media, but it was very unlikely he would announce any plans.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 27, 2013 -> 02:43 AM) Happy 3rd pick day..................G. Holland's numbers as closer for Royals this year have been stellar. The pitching in the AL Central, outside of the Twins, is very underrated

WE DID IT! Congrats on getting the 3rd pick White Sox.

I really hope to see Semien at 2B next season. He doesn't seem to be a prototypical 3B.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 26, 2013 -> 12:38 AM) Someone over at WSI had Reed's and Sale's stats against teams other than Cleveland. Sale has an ERA of 2.16 and Reed, 2.97. Both get blasted by the Indians. You wouldn't think Sale would struggle with the Indians due to the lefties they have in their lineup. Guys like Swisher and Reynolds hurt Sale this season.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 11:33 PM) Bomb Oh Avi! Being a father agrees with him.

Can't believe I forgot J. Danks...I'd give him a C

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 11:22 PM) Tonight should be an easy loss, and then our magic # is down to 1, which means we can pretty much root for the Sox to win out the rest of the year, because there is no way the Cubs sweep the Cardinals and the Twins sweep the Indians. that's not how it works...we would need the Cubs and Twins not to get swept.

Balta, what's with the extremely low grade for Beckham?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 10:21 PM) Fathom, you were much more generous than I was. I definitely considered giving Keppinger/Konerko/Ventura/Manto an F. Keppinger and Konerko were two of the worst 5 hitters in all of baseball this year according to fangraphs' WAR.

Since it seems unlikely anything could happen this week that would significantly change these grades, here it is: C. Sale-A J. Crain-A J. Quintana- A- H. Santiago- B+ J. Peavy- B M. Lindstrom- B A. Garcia- B A. Rios- B A. Reed- B- M. Thornton- B- A. Ramirez- B- N. Jones- C+ C. Gillaspie- C+ A. De Aza- C+ D. Viciedo- C G. Beckham- C A. Rienzo- C A. Dunn- C D. Veal- C- J. Keppinger- D J. Phegley- D T. Flowers- D P. Konerko- D D. Axelrod- D R. Ventura- D D. Cooper- B- J. Manto- D

QUOTE (ChiSoxFan05 @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 03:13 AM) It's his 2nd season. you know how Bobby did in his 2nd season? ERA of 4. Give Addison another year before you write him off His stuff isn't good enough to be a closer, IMO

Wow! Reed is just terrible right now. Time to give Webb a shot at closing.

Can't Axelrod start every game the rest of the way?

QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 02:48 AM) 4th pick, here we come. UGH

QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 01:32 AM) I hope Paulie gets a nice send off on Sunday. I can't see how anyone doesn't think he's finished as even an average big league hitter.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 01:26 AM) Agreed. Just put him on the DL and leave him there. Sox should have sent him to the same Doc that is operating on Keppinger. Ha, golden sombrero for Dunn. Good thing we're playing Dunn and Konerko instead of L. Garcia and Semien.
