Blue Jays vs White Sox 6:07 PM
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 10:28 PM) And Peavy has 22 starts, so AJ has caught 15 of them. I think Peavy isnt AJs biggest fan, but I dont think Flowers is his personal catcher Yeah, after looking at the numbers before, there doesn't seem to be any evidence that Flowers is Peavy's personal catcher.

Blue Jays vs White Sox 6:07 PM
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:40 PM) It could just as easily be that, though them not using a lefty off of the bench is peculiar. Especially with Romero and Laffey pitching this series. Heck, Henderson Alvarez is much easier for righties to hit than Villanueva is. However, hopefully Flowers stays hot and has some good at bats tonight.

Blue Jays vs White Sox 6:07 PM
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:26 PM) I would not be surprised if AJ and Peavy didn't like each other. The types of personalities they have, and the run in's they have had for the camera already just scream potential for conflict. Just would have rather seen Viciedo at DH and Wise in LF today, and then play Flowers against Laffey and Romero.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 08:11 PM) DeAza CF Youkilis 3B Dunn 1B Rios RF Pierzynski DH Ramirez SS Viciedo LF Flowers C Beckham 2B Peavy P So Peavy must hate throwing to AJ? Makes no sense to play Flowers against the tough righty and there are two lefties going during this series.

Jordan Danks sent down
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:07 PM) So the reality is, they are pretty identical players offensively, but Danks is a better defender. Wise is a very good base runner (42/50 stealing bases in his career) and has been a damn good PHer in his career (.307 average). Give me Wise over Danks every time at the plate.

Dewayne Wise come on up
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 07:01 PM) Wasn't this board ecstatic when we acquired Hudson? Now he's old news and we're calling for guys like Johnson and Jackson? Wow. This boards chews em up and spits em out. We want the second string quarterback all the time round here. No, we want someone that can contribute at the MLB level. The reason people weren't upset about Hudson coming to the Sox is due to how unbelievably terrible Morel was performing. Hudson got his chance, and he proved he just couldn't play 3b and thankfully KW noticed this and took a chance on Youk.

Rios and Dunn not moving in batting order
QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 04:02 PM) It helped him tremendously to make pitchers HAVE to pitch to him, especially making them fear walking him. Walking him now is not a problem because PK is a human DP machine. Taking away the fear of the walk just increases the pitcher's boldness in throwing borderline pitches to get outs. Rios has hit into more double plays this year than Konerko Dunn's walk rate is way down since the ASB. His .340 OPS in August has no business still batting 3rd in the Sox lineup.

The Bench
I don't think we know for sure that Aviles cleared waivers. Even if he did, I can't see Boston getting rid of him with Middlebrooks gone for the year now.

Is Smokey riding his big boys too hard?
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 02:14 PM) Fine by me. But the thing that is realy killing DET, and that I said pre-season I was amazed how few people brought it up... is defense. Defense matters, but people seem to forget that when analyzing teams. Detroit has allowed 33 more UER than the Sox (54 vs 21), allowed 25 more SB than the Sox, turned fewer double plays than all but one team in the AL... and that's not even getting into the fact that DET will allow even more runs with their defense via lack of range at 1B, 3B and other positions where their players suck on defense. They have probably the worst regular defensive players in baseball at three positions. Conservatively, if just in terms of errors they are allowing 33 more UER than the team they are chasing, given the lack of range at so many positions, I'm guessing the've given up just as many runs earned but defensively causedas well. That would be 66 runs, which is more than half a run EVERY GAME. If DET just misses the playoffs, or just misses the division, you can look at defense as the difference maker. I believe Porcello leads all MLB pitchers in errors this year with 5

Jordan Danks sent down
At this stage, Wise seems much more likely to have a quality AB against a tough righty starter. Prior to the home run, Danks had looked awful since the ASB, as he was being very aggressive early in the count and making weak outs. He'll be back in a few weeks and ready to take on his role as late inning defensive replacement.

Jordan Danks sent down
QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 12:52 AM) Another lefty in the bullpen is more important than our 4th outfielder right now. Both Thornton and Septimo are gas cans currently. Great post

White Sox vs A's 1:10 PM
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 07:33 PM) He hits like him too. It is ridiculous he's in the majors. They desperately need a legit back-up 3b with Youk so banged up.

White Sox vs A's 1:10 PM
What in the world is Dunn doing going after that ball? Pennington always seems to be a tough out vs the Sox.

White Sox vs A's 1:10 PM
QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 08:06 PM) I thought it was a decent gamble to send Beckham. No 3rd base coach is perfect. But with AJ up next (and if they walk him, then Alexei with RISP)?

White Sox vs A's 1:10 PM
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 08:05 PM) Beckham seemed like he was running in quicksand on the way home. He looks so slow on the bases this season.
