  1. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 12:12 AM) Tigers score one, third inning, game now in delay. Beckett leaves game with injury. They had Verlander on the ropes in the first and couldn't get any runs.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 12:32 AM) Honestly, I'm not nervous one bit. Team's played head and shoulders above where I thought they'd be, the guys who looked unsalvageable have all produced, and we got a pennant race to be in. Heckuva lot better than where we were the last couple years in August, which was starting to look like no one cared and limping to the finish. And with how the young guys have played/pitched this year, there's a whole lot to build on going forward as contracts start to clear. Yep, KW's managed to upgrade this team by a huge amount during the season without giving up one key piece for the future.
  3. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 08:42 PM) I cannot imagine any player not wanting to play with the White Sox. He must be pure evil. I guess you don't want to watch our starting pitcher tomorrow then
  4. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 08:45 PM) This is all true. However, I'm still skeptical if this is the actual problem. The did an ultrasound after the MRI. As I stated in a different thread, these are usually for muscle injuries not tendon. I think this case is one that no one really knows what's going on so they rested and rehabbed it to see if it would help. If it does, he'll pitch again. If it doesn't they'll do surgery. Most of the time, this type of ambiguous pain comes from overall shoulder instability. In a pitcher typically the "looseness" focuses in the anterior part of the shoulder and begins to degenerate tissue in this area. This could explain the original Subscapularis findings. The grade 1 tears show as fluid in the area as it's only a minor tear. General degeneration will show up like this as well. My guess is that if can't continue to throw they will do surgery to tighten up the joint capsule and "clean up" anything else they find. The only real danger of this is if they tighten up the capsule too much it isn't flexible enough. If they don't tighten it up enough, the joint is still too loose. It can be tricky. Either way if they do surgery anytime before Oct. he should be ready to go in spring Training. Would a full recovery be expected?
  5. Just create a different thread that contains no spoilers at all.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:33 PM) Good deal for the Cubs. Say what you want, but Theo is doin' things. Still a long ways to go. But it's hard not to like what he's assembled so far: Rizzo, Solar, Vizcaino + Texas deal. He didn't draft him, but it sounds like Javier Baez is blowing up this season
  7. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 08:22 PM) He blossomed this year. I'm sure you were looking at pre-season rankings. And their 20-25 ranked prospects could be top 5 for the White Sox. I believe Molina was an example of someone who went from not in the top 10 for the Blue Jays to our #1.
  8. Harden led the NBA in 4th quarter FTs this year
  9. they have some better arms like Holland/Crow/Herrera they can have close now, but it weakens their middle relief. With how bad their starting pitching is, this is likely going to hurt them.
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:03 PM) If the Sox land Liriano today, everyone's happy. All they did was land him 4 days early so he could already be pitching on deadline day. There are no complaints from me. +1000000000
  11. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 08:04 PM) We landed Contreras and Peavy after the deadline was apparently up. It's not over. It's not over until bucket, docsox, rock or kona say it's over!
  12. If the Cubs traded Garza to the Dbacks, it would be for one or more of their starting pitching prospects.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 06:35 PM) Oleny thinks Garza for Upton makes sense. Is he crazy? I saw that, and it seems absolutely nuts to me. Garza has not looked good at all this year, and that's before the injury.
  14. QUOTE (balfanman @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 04:58 PM) I don't really want to come off as being down on our pitching staff. I think that we have a good starting staff, maybe the best as a group in the A. L., but right now it just looks like a train wreck waiting to happen. I hope that Quintana & Sale get over their respective "dead arms", Peavy never has his "dead arm". Humber & Floyd pitch as well as they are capable of pitching, Lariano pitches like a man on a mission (for a new contract), and Danks has a miraculous healing happen and pitches like an "ACE". Wouldn't it be great to be arguing 2 months from from now on which ones of the 7 deserve to be in the playoff rotation more than the others. At some point, you need the starters in the rotation to step up and lead the team to the playoffs. You can't try to go 8 or 9 deep in the rotation just to cover for guys fading at the end of the year.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 05:04 PM) I think the Tigers should take him and promote the fattest 3-4-5 in MLB history. CLee doesn't have much power anymore. No power and no strike outs. He's like Juan Pierre's clone now at the plate.
  16. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 05:01 PM) Done deal per Tim Brown on Yahoo Good for the Dodgers, as they're definitely a much better team today than they were 3 weeks ago.
  17. QUOTE (joeynach @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 04:49 PM) Yeah becuase there is a freaking tear in the scapula of the his throwing shoulder. Those things dont fix themselves, he needs surgery and has this whole time. Where are you getting he has a tear in his shoulder?
  18. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 03:41 PM) Marlins begging people to take Carlos Lee of their hands, what a joke of an organization. I said it in the Marlins thread yesterday, but I can't see how that organization rebounds from this year in the next 2-3 years.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 03:36 PM) What bat are the Tigers going to get? Young and Boesch are up and down, but is Soriano really he answer? He would obviously DH, well, not sure...it's a crapshoot who is worse out there, him or Delmon. Soriano might actually be a defensive upgrade there, funny as it might seem. Soriano's had a good year at the plate, especially since he went to a lighter bat in May. Honestly, if the rumors are true that the Cubs are willing to pick up a large portion of his remaining contract, then I'm surprised more teams aren't interested.
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 03:30 PM) I know you are all about doubting the pitchers, but Floyd has been pretty good his last six starts. his WHIP has been high because of a lot of walks, but I think his ERA is something like 1.60 He's been the best pitcher for the Sox during that stretch (ERA wise), correct?
  21. It's scary that Tigers are looking for a middle of the order bat though. Unfortunately, they probably finally realized that having a terrible #5 hitter behind a great 3/4 can really hurt you.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 03:23 PM) I think he's a poor man's Buerhle myself. When he's off a bit, he's going to get rocked, just like Buerhle gets rocked for stretches. I think he'll bounce back. If he can put the ball where he wants to put it, you don't have to have much stuff. And he needs his defense to play well behind him. There's been a few games where his defense hurt him this season.
  23. Traded to the Dodgers
  24. Travis Snider for Brad Lincoln. Nice trade for the Pirates, as they have enough starting depth to get rid of Lincoln.
  25. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 04:00 AM) Cubs are busy tonight. My guess Dempster deal to LA gets done tonight. Soriano rejected a trade to the Giants
