Truth be told, I'm not a fan of Paul's. With that said, I think this trade doesn't hurt the integrity of the game nearly as much as the Gasol one did.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 03:15 AM) Fathom, The NBA is the crappy owner here. See the problem, if the Hornets lose everyone really has lost. Thats why its very odd that Hornets are even involved in any trade discussions. The #1 priority for the NBA should be to find a new owner for Hornets and let the new owner do what he wants. Thing is, aren't the Hornets better off by adding three above average players in Scola/Odom/Martin? I doubt Paul's body will hold up during this 66 game sprint.

Personally, I think it's bogus for the NBA to veto this deal if it's for competitive balance reasons. This shouldn't be fantasy sports where you have to oversee crappy owners.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 01:47 AM) I understand the doom and gloom, but I think the Sox are in an ok position. If they can get that rotation in order over the next couple of years, in this division, and with their revenue streams, they should be able to rebuild rather quickly. Think about how different things would be if you added Gonzalez and Hudson to Sale. A good, cheap, rotation is a key to the Sox contending for a World Series. It's a lot easier to think of Hudson in the rotation. Gio's been gone for a long time now.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 11:57 PM) It's annoying to me that somewhere out there there are legit people who are both Angels and Lakers fans. And there are Heat/Marlins fans
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 09:08 PM) Rios was known as a dog. If that's true (and it is), then the Marlins really screwed up hiring Ozzie. Hanley is a bigger dog than Rios, and it's obvious Ozzie can't motivate anyone then I guess.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 09:08 PM) Rios was known as a dog. How many teams acquire pitchers when they are on the DL at the time? Dunn ... I blame KW cause it didn't work out. Yes he deserves the blame, just like Pritchard deserved the blame for drafting Oden when ALL of basketball said to take Oden. That signing of the bum Dunn cost Sox fans Mark Buehrle. FIRE KENNY! And you can just as easily say that Ozzie getting his team to underachieve cost Sox fans Mark Buerhle. FIRE OZZIE! Greg, please just stop.

2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread

So Greg let me get this right. Whenever Joe Cowley praises Ozzie and bashes KW you think he is 100 percent correct. However, when he says that Ozzie might have been making moves to spite KW last year without teams best interest in mind, he is wrong? -
Orioles close to announcing a trade today. Could very well be with the Sox
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 04:33 PM) But they are also completely screwed in the short term. How so? There's a ton of options out there that will be much cheaper and might allow them to upgrade at other positions (I could see them going after someone like Adam Jones for CF in a trade)
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 03:31 PM) Blessing in disguise for the Cardinals. They dodged a long-term bullet, in my opinion. No kidding, they really should be going after Prince right now (IMO). I also could see them going after Cuddyer and then putting Berkman at 1B.
-
Morales might be non-tendered. Lots of fears his injury will end up being career-ending.
-
Best of luck to Doyle. It will be interesting to see if he can last the whole year on the big league roster.
-
Makes a little more sense, as he can DH the last 5 years when he's a senior citizen. I wouldn't be surprised to see Trumbo traded to Cubs now.

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 07:35 AM) I dunno, it looks middling when you consider what Benoit got last year. Benoit was also coming off of one of the more dominating relief years in a long time.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 08:01 AM) Few managers are better equipped to deal with the inevitable rocky moments than Guillen is. He's so candid and adept at using humor to defuse tense situations, he makes it hard for the tension to fester. Where some managers might be inclined to tap-dance around an issue, Ozzie is always going to charge in with combat boots and battle fatigues. At some point, if Ramirez sulks or loses focus, it will be Guillen's mandate to help him get his mind right.[/i] Jerry Crasnick/ESPN Yep, Ozzie did such a great job in 2008 of making sure that the clubhouse got along great. He also did a phenomenal job in 2009 of making sure that Dye took the addition of Rios well.
-
Wow did the Brewers screw up by offering KRod their arbitration. Basically is going to end up costing them the chance to sign Aramis Ramirez and Latroy Hawkins. Also, it looks bad for KW when Hawkins signs for less than what Frasor will get.
-
QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 05:23 AM) CJ looks to be signing with the Angels.. This mean they're out of Pujols bidding?
-
I'd rather blame Dunn, Peavy and Rios. This firesale never happens if we don't suck in 2011.

QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 04:34 AM) Unless Beckham requested to leave, I don't think you do it for another year. I want him to have at least one year with Ventura and Manto. As usual, I agree with you

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 04:17 AM) Did you read the interview with Oz in this edition of espn the magazine? I like Oz more and more after reading it. People that say I'm a sugary Sox homer won't have a problem with me this year cause I despise Kenny and definitely will not be defending Robin as he learns on the job. Wait, so you defend the veteran manager with a bloated payroll but you're ready to jump on Ventura, the rookie manager with a rebuilding squad? I can't wait!
