GT: White Sox @ Angels
QUOTE (Baron @ May 17, 2012 -> 03:01 AM) Good news is were only down by 2 And the Angels bullpen is very shaky. Sox still have a great chance in this game.

That cutter/slider is going to get someone in the outfield bleachers injured. Gavin just doesn't have it tonight. It happens, as he's been so good lately.

GT: White Sox @ Angels
Let's get some guys on for Dunn and Viciedo the rest of the game, and easily get back in this game. Sox aren't done scoring, as Williams is perfect pitcher for them to hit.

GT: White Sox @ Angels
Of course...you give him the one pitch he can handle with his current swing. Starting pitching with just terrible performances of late....at least we'll see Ohman tonight.
-
GT: White Sox @ Angels
Gavin making some real bad pitches here. He's just such a different pitcher from the stretch.
-
GT: White Sox @ Angels
There we go Gordon. Huge break having that hit the top of the wall.

GT: White Sox @ Angels
Mercy, Viciedo crushed that! Get hot, tank!

Wow, terrible 0-2 pitch. That's what you get when you walk Vernon Wells.

2012 White Sox Catch-All thread
Is there a place to view late inning pressure situation (LIPS) stats for hitters? I was thinking earlier today that outside of one AB vs the Cubs a few years ago, Beckham has seemingly sucked big time at the end of games.

Will Ohman
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 16, 2012 -> 06:28 PM) Why? If its wrong to have him face a RH hitter, he's been misused. If Ventura is misusing him and has him facing LH hitters more often than anyone else, he's always been misused. Its not as if he's a guy who comes in to pitch 4 innings at a time. Is it OK then to have him face RHP in July and August but not April and May? What about the possiblity that Ohman just isn't as good as he was 5 years ago, and his stuff is getting a lot more hittable for righties? 3 homers allowed in 21 at bats against righties so far this year. That's why I asked about his velocity so far this year.

Will Ohman
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 16, 2012 -> 03:42 PM) You have to use fangraphs for that. 2007 89.4 2008 89.7 2009 90.9 2010 90.3 2011 90.1 2012 88.5 He's a little lower than last year but there's a sample size thing happening too. He's not outside the range of what he threw in previous stints. Thanks

Will Ohman
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 16, 2012 -> 03:30 PM) Another Will Ohman fact. 59% of the batters he's faced this season have been LH. Last year it was 49 %. His best year, 2008 with the genius Bobby Cox, 46%. So Ventura has him face a smaller percentage of RH hitters than any manager. I tried to find it on baseball-reference, but I was unsuccessful. Anyone know what Ohman's velocity was in 2008 as opposed to now?

Will Ohman
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 16, 2012 -> 02:23 PM) Usually though, Miguel Cabrera isn't sitting on the bench. If he is, then that's a case where you are very cautious about where you use Ohman (i.e. only to start an inning, rather than with runners on base). Or, you put him in to a place where he has room to walk the righty to face a lefty. Yesterday, he failed to get the lefty out. This does happen. He then gave up a big hit to Austin Jackson. If he'd gotten the lefty out, we'd have been fine, but those things do happen, they don't have a 0.000 OBP against him. The problem was that we didn't attempt someone like Crain against Austin Jackson, even if he'd just gotten off a plane. A tired Jones or Stewart, for 1 batter, against Jackson, would have been more relaible than Ohman. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Leyland have Delmon bat for Kelly?

After watching some of the highlights of the 6th inning, it sure looked like Peavy's stuff just hit a wall. 89 mph fastball to Cabrera should have been a warning sign that he was finished. After Raburn's homer, it should have been Nate Jones time. Ohman only should have been used in the game to face Prince or Avila, two guys that you know Leyland wouldn't ph for. Instead, bringing him in to face Kelly just made it way too easy for Leyland.

Peter Bourjos
No thanks...that type of speed would be better suited for a bigger ball park.

2012 MLB draft talk
I doubt it will happen, but I'd be excited if Sox draft Victor Roache. He put up Nintendo numbers last year when everyone else struggled with the new bats. If he stayed healthy this year, I doubt he could possibly fall to the Sox.

2012 MLB draft talk
QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 16, 2012 -> 12:28 AM) Nor can I. He will be seeking big money, and the risk of not signing him sucks as the slot amount is deducted from the total allocation if he walks. I think we say this every year after the draft, but with the way Stoney and Hawk talk about the draft, it's hard to fathom a situation where KW drafts a high school pitcher. I'm fine with this philosophy.

2012 MLB draft talk
QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 16, 2012 -> 12:23 AM) It will be really interesting to see what happens with Giolito. Potentially the best prospect in the draft class, even with the elbow injury. He supposedly will release his medicals right around draft day. Many think he's UCLA bound. Based on KW's reaction to drafting Loux (or should I say passing on him), I can't see him taking Giolito.

5/15 Tigers vs. White Sox
I'm going to say I'm pretty happy with the team today. The offense had some great at bats and not quitting at the end might have caused the Tigers to lose their closer. Also I want to give credit to Ventura for letting Morel sink or swim

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ May 15, 2012 -> 10:55 PM) about 1.5 feet short Hate to ask this, but did it look gone off the bat?
